I played the beta as 10k hours Poe player, it was super casual but still found it a little enjoyable. I can see myself playing new seasons for a week between poe seasons.

It was so boring, all the forced stuff. I liked 3, but 2 is the ultimate experience. Even D2R is bad, because it's basically a graphic overhaul that broke the mods without adding anything meaningful. The worst part of it is that they killed actually good series, like W3 and HotS.
I'll admit I'm typically a soi faced sperg when it comes to Diablo. I even put 1000+ hours into D3. Don't get me wrong the story sucked in D3 but at least combat is fun. During the beta I made a sorc, no matter what combo I picked in the character creator she looked ugly, the skill tree is a downgrade from D3 because no there's only 2 or 3 branches off a skill to change it instead of 6 ruins. In D3 when you hit monsters with lighting they fly around the screen and you feel the impact, nothing like that in D4. The combat at least for sorc sucks, the quests suck big time because it's all just talking to NPC with shitty college graduate level of writing, you either suffer through it or skip it the armor drops are just ATK/DEF then you got those red alerts on all the menus for stuff you unlock account wide so your constantly opening menus like lost ark. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills how do people like this dog shit, you have zero agency leveling up, you just stuttle between NPC to NPC listening to filler dialog. People praising this dog shit story need to read books or something. Holy frick. Theres even an Anon in another D4 thread right now that posted his Necromancer standing over Rathmas dead body and nothing... No unique dialog... A Necromancer standing over the body of the man who invited Necromancy and no unique dialog SOULESS FRICKING TRASH AHHHHHHHHHH.

D3 is good, it's just not a Diablo game, they should've released it as a spin-off. I agree, 4 felt so strange, the colors, the animations. Everything is souless, the excessive narrative. I watched an presentation with the original designer, he said that he wanted to make a game that you wouldn't lose any time on menus and you'd play the game as fast as you could. It's a completely different design from what we are seeing in 4.

I remember when Outer Worlds came out and got universal praise, but when you asked people what was so good about it the response was pretty much "It works unlike Fallout 76". I think this game also strongly benefits from not having any competition in its genre by other large IPs, it's pretty much just Diablo and a bunch of indie games.

Saw a couple of Unreal Engine videos on yt and it's always about how you can use tools to automate the creation of huge parts of the game through scripting and randomization.
A small team of around 5-15 people would know how to allocate their time to make a game that is as enjoyable as possible.
These morons just hire a few hundred sub 90 iq mouthbreathers, hook them up with the latest automatic game generation tools and let them put together a game.
I can't even blame the engines, poe have shown they hand craft their zones and then randomize them to some degree, and every single one of them still looks like complete fricking horseshit.
Modern game devs just can't design areas, period, they're not invested in it they just want it over asap and to shit out whatever the frick annoying bland garbage. Meanwhile you walk out of the rogue encampment into a fricking open field and it has more colour and atmosphere than their entire modern games combined.
Their artists spend no time on colour palettes. Their devs spend no time on lighting they just slap on whatever the frick nvidia 'tool' that does lighting for them and its always terrible
Bought D3 on release, despised it. Tried again after RoS, still hated it, but less. Played again about a year ago, hated it still and just played D2R instead.
Game is sort of boring so far up to level 15. Started rogue, didn't really like it, went sorc and it's ok but I'm constantly respeccing between fire, frost, and lightning because they aren't grabbing me either

It was so boring, all the forced stuff. I liked 3, but 2 is the ultimate experience. Even D2R is bad, because it's basically a graphic overhaul that broke the mods without adding anything meaningful. The worst part of it is that they killed actually good series, like W3 and HotS.
I'll admit I'm typically a soi faced sperg when it comes to Diablo. I even put 1000+ hours into D3. Don't get me wrong the story sucked in D3 but at least combat is fun. During the beta I made a sorc, no matter what combo I picked in the character creator she looked ugly, the skill tree is a downgrade from D3 because no there's only 2 or 3 branches off a skill to change it instead of 6 ruins. In D3 when you hit monsters with lighting they fly around the screen and you feel the impact, nothing like that in D4. The combat at least for sorc sucks, the quests suck big time because it's all just talking to NPC with shitty college graduate level of writing, you either suffer through it or skip it the armor drops are just ATK/DEF then you got those red alerts on all the menus for stuff you unlock account wide so your constantly opening menus like lost ark. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills how do people like this dog shit, you have zero agency leveling up, you just stuttle between NPC to NPC listening to filler dialog. People praising this dog shit story need to read books or something. Holy frick. I remember when Outer Worlds came out and got universal praise, but when you asked people what was so good about it the response was pretty much "It works unlike Fallout 76". I think this game also strongly benefits from not having any competition in its genre by other large IPs, it's pretty much just Diablo and a bunch of indie games.
