Yeah, it's a unity game and the devs are really inexperienced, so the visuals are meh and the gameplay is just alright, but the class design is top tier. I also really like how they're going to handle the trade vs SSF split. Wouldn't recommend it until 1.0 unless you're really boared though.

there's no fun to be had. even the absolute end game items like shako only really give stat bumps and don't fundamentally change the way you play. there's only really 2 viable end game builds for each class with very minor variations among people. the idea was to IMPROVE on d2 and d3 not be objectively worse than both.
Basically you can itemize up to ancestral, and if you wanna grind further theres the lilith echo fight, if you want to do that glyphs go up to level 21, helltides get you crafting materials and party farming dungeons is good for xp

It might be interesting to see the number go up, but it needs something to compete with, OR it needs good items that can be traded freely so there's an incentive to keep staying with the community. It's a single player game at this point.
It is, plus items always drop at your level so even if you organize a trade via a discord or a forum the demand for items will he substantially lower if it dropped at a high level.
The uber lilith fight is actually sorta tough and requires a good build and for you to know the fight but again there's no real reason to do it, the game needs more stuff 100%, from things to farm and reasons to farm

I bought this game out of boredom but it's not really my style. I played all the diablos growing up but was never into replaying the games multiple times to get the best items.
Playing this, it's always the same thing, you just click on enemies rinse and repeat, minimum gameplay involved and when there is (bosses) it's not that fun.
I remember diablo 3 being more fun to look at, for all its flaws, at least the encounter scripting and the animations were enjoyable to watch. There were way more interesting things going on in the screen

No Leaderboards to reset
No Paragon to reset (capped at 100)
No Economy to reset (no trading)
Nightmare Dungeons (rifts) capped at 100, no timer, you can't fail.

Maybe it gets better, only finished Act 1 so far (Level 26). The side quests largely suck, exploring this world without a mount is boring. It's empty and at best you fight like 1 or 2 modified enemies between objectives. The gameplay is decently fun but the power of my character fluctuates so wildly.On Tier II, sometimes I'm able to one shot regular enemies and have fun killing hordes and then I'll level up and suddenly I have to use every ability I have to kill a room of enemies. The boss of Act 1 was actually fun and I wish the open world dungeons had more bosses with real mechanics. I liked D2-3 story as a kid but for some reason I just can't get into 4. Im no ARPG fanatic but this diablo just seems harder to get into.
The good about this game is the overall graphics & animation quality. The bad is everything else. I hate how each class has 1 real endgame build. The paragon and skill trees are a horrible illusion of choice. D3 had 100x more variety when it launched relative to now. I miss having elemental style attacks because they were cool.
Finally got my gorgh gauntlets on 81 for WW barb. Can’t tell if it’s good though.. basically sacrificing almost 10% crit chance (prvious hands with god roll) for this aoe ability

The problem is that Diablo 3 added a non-story mode because they knew it sucked and that mode is far better than Diablo 4. 4's only strengths are good combat (for all that means in a game where you click on shit and press hotkeys) and being a relaxing little ride through story mode.

I had a blast from 60 to 65 in torment. Stopped playing at 70. They failed to bring many things that D3. I hate dealing with loot and backtracking during dungeons. Aspects should have be treated the same way as kanai's cube. No fricking armory. NM dungeons feel really gimmicky, I was crafting really high levels and only doing the easier ones. It's a barebones game.
As a lightning sorc, how important is the "+2 ranks on chain lightning" on gloves? I've kept mine since like level 40 because I'm afraid of letting go, but now (58) I got a nice glove with +15% lightning critical strike damage instead. Should I go for it?
keep the +2 and you could try to enchant lightning crit onto them if you havent already
I wouldnt though personally, save crafting mats for your ancestral gear and prefferably 725+ ilvl unless you get an item with a frickton of great mods and just need to reroll one
I used the same pair of gloves from 40 until 68 because they had crit chance and +2 twisting blades
you'll still be replacing it soon with ancestral tier gear, you can try to enchant the second glove to make it more of an easier choice to upgrade

I wish I could enjoy Diablo 4. I really wish I could. I wish I could understand why some people are finding it so fun even at endgame, but I think most of the incorrect statements are coming from people who watch streamers. The game's just not fun for me. It takes too long to get another toon going too. The level up process is either boring when you start without the campaign or overly-long when you start with the (arguably more fun) campaign. And then once you get to 50 it kind of gets more fun, but then the items suck and are boring and there's no targeted farming so everything feels like a waste of time. There's no leaderboard and no community aspect

It takes so much time to even complete a build that the variety doesn't matter because nobody has enough time to experience it. Even streamers play 2 or maybe 3 builds a league.
like I said its a game for a very specific niche of gamers who only want to muh build out in an arpg. It doesnt have broad appeal. they also just dont have the motif/feel of diablo. even if you skip all the dialogue diablo has got a great ambience of a ruined decaying world that is perennially hopeless. If you get a quest to save someone they are gonna die. If you meet a leader they are selfish and will betray you. If someone defeats a demon they will end up the vessel of its rebirth. other APRG games just never capture this and it does improve the gameplay experience knowing this is the world you are fighting in

Yeah, it's a unity game and the devs are really inexperienced, so the visuals are meh and the gameplay is just alright, but the class design is top tier. I also really like how they're going to handle the trade vs SSF split. Wouldn't recommend it until 1.0 unless you're really boared though.

Basically you can itemize up to ancestral, and if you wanna grind further theres the lilith echo fight, if you want to do that glyphs go up to level 21, helltides get you crafting materials and party farming dungeons is good for xp

The uber lilith fight is actually sorta tough and requires a good build and for you to know the fight but again there's no real reason to do it, the game needs more stuff 100%, from things to farm and reasons to farm

I bought this game out of boredom but it's not really my style. I played all the diablos growing up but was never into replaying the games multiple times to get the best items.
Playing this, it's always the same thing, you just click on enemies rinse and repeat, minimum gameplay involved and when there is (bosses) it's not that fun.
I remember diablo 3 being more fun to look at, for all its flaws, at least the encounter scripting and the animations were enjoyable to watch. There were way more interesting things going on in the screen

Maybe it gets better, only finished Act 1 so far (Level 26). The side quests largely suck, exploring this world without a mount is boring. It's empty and at best you fight like 1 or 2 modified enemies between objectives. The gameplay is decently fun but the power of my character fluctuates so wildly.On Tier II, sometimes I'm able to one shot regular enemies and have fun killing hordes and then I'll level up and suddenly I have to use every ability I have to kill a room of enemies. The boss of Act 1 was actually fun and I wish the open world dungeons had more bosses with real mechanics. I liked D2-3 story as a kid but for some reason I just can't get into 4. Im no ARPG fanatic but this diablo just seems harder to get into.
The good about this game is the overall graphics & animation quality. The bad is everything else. I hate how each class has 1 real endgame build. The paragon and skill trees are a horrible illusion of choice. D3 had 100x more variety when it launched relative to now. I miss having elemental style attacks because they were cool.

The problem is that Diablo 3 added a non-story mode because they knew it sucked and that mode is far better than Diablo 4. 4's only strengths are good combat (for all that means in a game where you click on shit and press hotkeys) and being a relaxing little ride through story mode.

I had a blast from 60 to 65 in torment. Stopped playing at 70. They failed to bring many things that D3. I hate dealing with loot and backtracking during dungeons. Aspects should have be treated the same way as kanai's cube. No fricking armory. NM dungeons feel really gimmicky, I was crafting really high levels and only doing the easier ones. It's a barebones game.
Yeah, right now the backtracking is a bore, and consumable aspects is annoying.

As a lightning sorc, how important is the "+2 ranks on chain lightning" on gloves? I've kept mine since like level 40 because I'm afraid of letting go, but now (58) I got a nice glove with +15% lightning critical strike damage instead. Should I go for it?
keep the +2 and you could try to enchant lightning crit onto them if you havent already
I wouldnt though personally, save crafting mats for your ancestral gear and prefferably 725+ ilvl unless you get an item with a frickton of great mods and just need to reroll one
I used the same pair of gloves from 40 until 68 because they had crit chance and +2 twisting blades

White-ish is Unique, Sacred is the WT3 modifier and Ancestral is the WT4 modifier
The modifiers give more armor and a chance at another stat

Diablo 3 can be fun if you theorycraft, but there's not much to theorycraft anymore. Everything is very simplified. In PoE, the theorycrafting is insane. But in D2 you have the itemization that saves the game's low ability to theorycraft. D4 has neither of these things. It's dumbed down for consoleBlack folk

I wish I could enjoy Diablo 4. I really wish I could. I wish I could understand why some people are finding it so fun even at endgame, but I think most of the incorrect statements are coming from people who watch streamers. The game's just not fun for me. It takes too long to get another toon going too. The level up process is either boring when you start without the campaign or overly-long when you start with the (arguably more fun) campaign. And then once you get to 50 it kind of gets more fun, but then the items suck and are boring and there's no targeted farming so everything feels like a waste of time. There's no leaderboard and no community aspect
