Back when diablo was released, this formula was fresh and interesting and diablo games were pretty well made as well. Now, after the super mid diablo 3 and a plethora of other diablo clones, the genre has been saturated and the coming of diablo 4 couldnt save it.
Also, the fact that diablo 4 was an okay sequel that turned worse due to devs inability to balance, put the last nails on the coffin of this genre and blizzard's future as well. I guess Path of Exile can keep things alive, but not for too long
