actually they do mean something, you can deny it all you want but your character looking cool is part of the fun and reward of the game when you put time in it and hunt down your gear, a lot of the classes have very limited variety in their armor appearances, imagine if even half of the bullshit in the shop was applied to the armor you pick up in the game? your character would have tons of different options for customization with transmog, etc, when you put all of that shit in the cash shop and you put unavoidable popups and splash screens telling you how much cooler you could look if you just please please please spend more money it sours the taste of the game, you can say it doesnt matter to you personally, that you don't care about how your character looks, but it objectively makes the game worse when a ton of time is put into designing armor sets that a fraction of the playerbase will ever see

its a full priced game, you should be getting a full fricking game and if they want to add shit later you can do expansions or some shit this isn't some f2p game that needs to sell shit to keep the servers up you already paid fricking 70$ for it
I love Inquisitor Martyr, if you use ranged it can almost be a twin stick shooter with APRG mechanics. I wish there were more like this rather than generic fantasy knights and wizards shit. It can be grindy though and it has some flaws but overall its worth a play. Crusader voice actor is legend, little details in the backgrounds are very good
I like the gameplay but even for a casual oriented ARPG the skill tree has no versatility. The itemization is the worst in the genre with procs on procs on procs from specific skills to do 3% more damage it's so unsatisfying, but at least they said they're pretty much completely reworking how items work so we'll see.
Story is lmao but then again who cares about story in these games.

I like mixing shit up, right now as a barbarian I have it so I'm constantly in a state of berserk in combat, constant crits, cooldowns keep getting chopped in half so i can go berserk again even before the last one runs out. attack speed is almost tripled.
everything works synergically. i love that. I haven't had to use a healing potion in 70 hours because when I hit the Iron Skill key, not only do I get healing capabilities by my damage output, fury gains, attack and movement speed increases. every 4 strikes (4 in a second) my cooldowns drop 5 seconds.
anyways frick you, this game is tight. I will take nothing back that I said in the OP, D4 and D1 are better than literally every other game in this genre. COPE

the only redeeming part of the game WAS the story, which was 6/10. Frankly the entire game is worth a watchthrough on youtube for the cinematics then thats it. Beyond a ripoff, it was extortion to charge $110aus for the standard edition.

I'm level 34 and I'm genuinely having a good time really suprised by the size of the map and the side missions are really polished, that whole exorcism side questline really stood out.

Only the very first Diablo was a proper Dungeon-Crawler, as the emphasis was on delving the increasingly difficult and brutal dungeon layers to Diablo and loot was distinctly a secondary concern compared to reaching the bottom of the dungeon to fight Diablo.
Diablo 2 created the loot grinder subgenre which has changed very little fundamentally since Diablo 2. Mostly it got moronic-proofed more and more, although Crate's Grim Dawn still offers a game where you can customize the same class in different directions unlike POE or Diablo4 where the developer only has one playstyle allowed and won't let you go off-road; you play THEIR meta you don't get an option.
