The power creep in this game is going to be moronic
No item sets, but the in-game store and battle pass will work!
Are you guys just fricking moronic or something? Everyone hated set items in D3 because Blizzard couldn't figure out how to balance them, and every set item just became "increases damage of X by 10000%". Everyone specifically asked to NOT have set items like that in D4, so Blizzard actually listened(for once) and decided to wait with set items until post-launch where they can balance things properly.
Who says that sets automatically have to mean +x damage? Also how long has this game been in development? Half a fricking decade? Like that isn't enough time. Frick off.
Set items were fine until they did the moronic "X skill gets 1000000% more damage".
Yeah they were niche and not brokenly OP, but you could do fun builds with some of them.
>Set items were fine until they did the moronic "X skill gets 1000000% more damage".
Nah, they were shit before that, so they swung the pendulum the other way.
Diablo 2 handles set items just fine
No it doesn't, most of the sets are unusable trash.
It really didn't. Most veteran d2 players admit that sets in D2 are kind of a clusterfrick and are kind of just crammed into the game from a design standpoint. That's why PoE devs who basically originally based their game off of D2 left out the game completely. Sets are lame. They always felt weird. I'm not defending D4. They'll find multiple ways to frick off the game, but sets delayed isn't a huge issue.
>Blizzard listened to the fans saying not to include sets >by delaying the introduction of sets
Do you even think about the shit you say before you say it?
>ggguys everyone actually hates one of the staples of looter games and wants them gone because theyre badly balanced or something so now blizzard fixed this by removing then please clap!!!
>Everyone >Everyone
Stop lying you histrionic b***h. You're right though that Blizzard can't balance for shit and ruined it but I enjoyed set-items before they became obnoxious. And you just got them way to fast by the end.
ho boy I sure do appreciate it when the multi billion dollar company removes features from the 5th iteration of their game rather than making them functional, yup, I sure do love less content!
>no set items
There better me more legendaries and uniques than what were in the closed beta. If there are barely more, or worse, the same amount, then build variety will be dead.
Were set items even that good in D2? Tal'rasha and Immortal Kings were the only good ones if I recall? And even then, they are outclassed by better alternatives or not being optimal than having 2/3 items of the set
no, they were always dogshit
uniques and rares (depending on slot) were always better, when runewords came, they became even more worthless
they revamped them at some point but they were still fairly bad

The problem with sets is that they're either not useful or they're mandatory. In D2 you'd find a piece and be 20 levels higher before finding the next piece. In D3 you're character is dogshit unless you're wearing one of the meta sets.
It's almost certain they would have been like D3. Good legendaries are the way to go for build diversity and player creativity. I doubt most of this team was even born when D2 came out. Blizzard outright admitted last expansion that hardly any of the current WoW developers had ever even worked on sets.

It's literally a list of +70 games. If you genuinely can't find at least a handful of games on that list that you're interested in, then you might as well just pack it up and admit that video games are just not for you anymore and find another hobby.
It's the opposite. I still enjoy video games because I don't use them as escapism, I just use them for entertainment. The people on Ganker who scream about how vidya is dead, but still hang around here are the ones who are miserable because they can't admit to themselves that they should let go of video games and find other hobbies.

You are literally here to complain about how other people like video games that you don't like. Don't you see how sad and pathetic you are being?
Is there anyone who actually has hope D4 will be good? There has been no news to make it seem redeemable and Blizzard has made exclusively terrible choices for like... almost a decade?
I have no hope. I'm not trolling for answers but if you really believe that D4 is going to be good can you explain to me why? They have been signal blasting more red flags than a Tiananmen square parade.
>Ummmm but i played diablo 2 online for hours and it was like a mmo for me so now you should all play diablo as a mmo with always online! You were all only using offline to cheat anyway!
Its marketing drones and mindbroken blizzcuck.desperately holding on to what passes for blizzard and "Diablo" these days because they associate them with the days when they were young, healthy and with full manes of hair on their heads
I was being serious. I don't need confirmation that it looks like it's going to be fricking awful. I wanted the outlook of someone seeing D4 and being optimistic.
>Did they confirm this game having a cash shop?
Haven't seen anything in writing, but you'd be betting against the sun rising if you think it won't.
I believe the 'battlepass' is confirmed though.
>Did they confirm this game having a cash shop?

I believe the 'battlepass' is confirmed though.
Its marketing drones and mindbroken blizzcuck.desperately holding on to what passes for blizzard and "Diablo" these days because they associate them with the days when they were young, healthy and with full manes of hair on their heads
I'm not too optimistic just based on the slop they've put out in the last ten years. But if I had to come up with reasons it might be good I'd say the conversations with the director and assistant director seem promising, it looks closer to D2 than D3, no pay for power (that battle pass has me shook though), endgame ideas sound good, and there have been rumors the launch is getting delayed.
If it plays remotely good, I'm fine with it. It's probably hyper casual, but action packed. And the overall experience won't be as aggravating as with path of excrement. The real winner though will be last epoch or any other arpg though.
Honestly I don't know how you would go about properly designing a game with set items. If sets are strong (like Diablo 3), they lock down most equipment slots since they're reserved for the set items, making most other items useless since they're not part of the set, which defeats the point of a loot game. If sets are weak, then there's no reason to use them. Maybe Path of Exile was right to eliminate sets. It's a cool concept but I can't think of a good way to pull it off.
Set items suck because it makes gearing your character insanely boring. Hey, wanna craft good high end rare items, mix in some uniques/runewords and come up with cool combinations to make a unique feeling character? Well frick you! Just hunt down this static set of items instead! It's bad design, even when the set isn't that powerful. It was already weak design in D2. D3 just amplified how bad they can be.
>Hey, wanna craft good high end rare items, mix in some uniques/runewords and come up with cool combinations to make a unique feeling character?
well too bad it fricking sucks should have copied the 3 functional builds for D2
[...]
How can an item with green text not exist at launch
>there is no excuse for AAA devs releasing unfinished games
The entire philosophy of Diablo 4 is that it's a game that will never be "finished". They are taking the PoE approach of having huge content patches every 3 months.
>sets were shit in Diablo 3 >thus Blizzard did something right by outright removing them in the sequel
The mental gymnastics
Sets will still be in the game, just not at launch.
The fact that you joined this thread in the first place already means that there's a 90% chance you will end up buying the game when you see that it's a great game that will sell like 20 million copies.
item sets are cringe
cash shop is cringe
battlepass is cringe
the franchise is dead, it appeals to the common moronic american who has more money than sense
>Always online >Cashshop >Battlepass >Diablo3 version 2.0 systems and itemisations >Monetisation focused design rather than basement dwelling gamers trying to iterate design >Made by israelites and trannies and women
Who cares? Who uses Item Sets during the level up experience? And unless you are a no lifer Ganker dweeb, by the time you reach endgame Blizzard will deliver.
People in this thread are too stupid to realize that its not about the fact that sets in particular won't be on release, but rather that they are cutting and delaying (major) features months before release. This is always a giant red flag that the development process is troublesome and you can expect either more features to be cut/delayed and a complete shitshow of a release.
The "at launch" and "postponed" is the only thing that makes this bad. One of the smartest things PoE did was not use sets.
These games are already braindead enough outside of gear choices, why do you need to have a big neon sign saying "USE THESE PIECES OF GEAR" while making any non-set items that drop for those slots automatically disqualified until you collect a critical mass of gear good enough to offset the loss set bonus. Upgrading gear is fun and sets actively discourage that.
The only time I'd be in favor of sets is if they're early, early late game items for new players to use without worrying about theorycrafting, but which non-casuals will very quickly replace with dedicated grinding.
PoE doesn't have item sets either, whether this is a bad thing or not really just depends on what the itemization is like. If its like D3 then yeah its catastrophic, but if its more like D2 and PoE it should be fine
>bought deluxe edition with tax returns
i really hope D4 is nu-blizz's redemption game but man these trannies devs are making it tough.
i hope its good but the long road ahead..
It isn't, but you're a good goy who has been conditioned to compulsively spend extra money on junk so I don't blame you.

I don't know the ins and outs of American tax law, but I know that you are cucked by the IRS.
You shouldn't preorder games, unless it's from a series you absolutely love and now it's going to be good. In terms of d4, homosexuals who preorder the hyper homosexual edition will have three days of a headstart. They can be your guinea pig.
That is so fricking ancient by now, and was already clunky when I played it as a kid. No idea what you people see in it. The only good thing was the atmosphere.

You're dumb and gay if you buy this game.

Kek, he means a holy class like a paladin or monk. An unusual choice given that it's a game about slaying demons and undead almost exclusively.

>you are not allowed to still enjoy video games
>you need to be as miserable and contrarian as me
Sad.
>wanting something new and fresh instead of rehashing the same gameplay/plot loops forever makes you miserable and contrarian
You just have shit taste, enjoy the flavour
It's literally a list of +70 games. If you genuinely can't find at least a handful of games on that list that you're interested in, then you might as well just pack it up and admit that video games are just not for you anymore and find another hobby.
>he's miserable without video games
lel
It's the opposite. I still enjoy video games because I don't use them as escapism, I just use them for entertainment. The people on Ganker who scream about how vidya is dead, but still hang around here are the ones who are miserable because they can't admit to themselves that they should let go of video games and find other hobbies.
The games from more than 10 years ago are still fun so the problem here is (you)
>so the problem here is (you)
I don't have any problems. I am enjoying video games, both old and new. It's people like you who seem to have problems, to the point that you feel the need to whine about it on chinese basketweaving forums.
I didn't realize scat fetishits had spread into video games
>anime reaction gifs
You can just admit that you're a loser who used video games as escapism and now that you have grown older, they can't distract you anymore.
You must have missed the part where games from more than 10 years ago are still as enjoyable to play as they were then. The remakes of those same games are not.
>I don't care about new games because I have my old games
>btw all the new games are fricking garbage and I feel the desperate need to always talk about how bad they and attempt to shame anyone who likes any new games
>but I totally don't care, I still have my old games
Who are you quoting?
You.
Link the posts shiteater
You are literally here to complain about how other people like video games that you don't like. Don't you see how sad and pathetic you are being?
I'm here telling you that humans do not enjoy having shit shoveled to them and the industry being in such a state leaves nothing to anticipate positively.
>and the industry being in such a state leaves nothing to anticipate positively.
I listed +70 games. If there's not a single game on that list that you're at least interested in trying, then video games are probably just not for you anymore.
>there's not a single game on that list
now you're beginning to understand twat
All that's left to do is piecing that together with older games still being good
>twat
Ah, now I understand why you are miserable. You're from a shithole country. There's no point in carrying on with this conversation, because you'll always be miserable.
Are you having a stroke?
i would frick andariel all night. then cuddle.
Ganker is full of people who doesn't even play games but pretend they do.
>you lopping up dressed feces
>reaction
See
Get control of your fomo.
Stop supporting blizzard.
They fricking hate you.
They have been signal blasting more red flags than a Tiananmen square parade.
>can you explain to me why
Two words:
Always.
Online.
>Ummmm but i played diablo 2 online for hours and it was like a mmo for me so now you should all play diablo as a mmo with always online! You were all only using offline to cheat anyway!
Actual blizzdrone logic btw
I was being serious. I don't need confirmation that it looks like it's going to be fricking awful. I wanted the outlook of someone seeing D4 and being optimistic.
Did they confirm this game having a cash shop?
>Did they confirm this game having a cash shop?
Haven't seen anything in writing, but you'd be betting against the sun rising if you think it won't.
I believe the 'battlepass' is confirmed though.
there will be a shop with cosmetics
The real winner though will be last epoch or any other arpg though.
we doubled it and then we doubled it again
Honestly I don't know how you would go about properly designing a game with set items. If sets are strong (like Diablo 3), they lock down most equipment slots since they're reserved for the set items, making most other items useless since they're not part of the set, which defeats the point of a loot game. If sets are weak, then there's no reason to use them. Maybe Path of Exile was right to eliminate sets. It's a cool concept but I can't think of a good way to pull it off.
set slots
fixed
Still playing project diablo 2, for fre btw, not going to play this crap, thank you
Set items suck because it makes gearing your character insanely boring.
Sets are stupid in any game, I want to piece my character together and not have the game just tell me what to wear.
Diablo has been dead since 3 so who gives a flying frick
Because poe WAS great for a good 4-8 years depending on who you talk to, but it needs competition. Last epoch and wolcen didnt quite do it.
Can't believe we went through the entire lifespan of Diablo 3 and Ray of Frost wasn't playable a single time.
100% delayed
It's bad enough when indie games make early access shit, there is no excuse for AAA devs releasing unfinished games.
>there is no excuse for AAA devs releasing unfinished games
The entire philosophy of Diablo 4 is that it's a game that will never be "finished". They are taking the PoE approach of having huge content patches every 3 months.
Sets will still be in the game, just not at launch.
thanks for clearing that up blizzard employee
Great, I will continue not buying it then.
The fact that you joined this thread in the first place already means that there's a 90% chance you will end up buying the game when you see that it's a great game that will sell like 20 million copies.
How can an item with green text not exist at launch
item sets are cringe
cash shop is cringe
battlepass is cringe
the franchise is dead, it appeals to the common moronic american who has more money than sense
>Always online
>Cashshop
>Battlepass
>Diablo3 version 2.0 systems and itemisations
>Monetisation focused design rather than basement dwelling gamers trying to iterate design
>Made by israelites and trannies and women
Who cares? Who uses Item Sets during the level up experience? And unless you are a no lifer Ganker dweeb, by the time you reach endgame Blizzard will deliver.
I am going to RIP the armors and weapons in that game and mod it into another game. THank you blizzard for doing all the dirty work for me
>diablo
>won't be a disaste...
After the defunct of Bizzard north? No way
People in this thread are too stupid to realize that its not about the fact that sets in particular won't be on release, but rather that they are cutting and delaying (major) features months before release. This is always a giant red flag that the development process is troublesome and you can expect either more features to be cut/delayed and a complete shitshow of a release.
not sure what else they would 'cut or delay'
stuff was working in the beta
I think set as chase items could be cool as well
>yes please blizzdaddyy I need less content to enjoy the game
Holy fricking shit. I am out.
lmao
>I'm fine paying 79.99 burgerbucks (plus tip) for an incomplete game
modern gamers truly are vile and pathetic
PoE doesn't have item sets either, whether this is a bad thing or not really just depends on what the itemization is like. If its like D3 then yeah its catastrophic, but if its more like D2 and PoE it should be fine
Set items should have their own slots.
>bought deluxe edition with tax returns
i really hope D4 is nu-blizz's redemption game but man these trannies devs are making it tough.
i hope its good but the long road ahead..
Give me a single reason to pre-order an unlimited good, which you don’t know the quality of.
like i said, bought with 'tax return'
that was the reason
kek
That's not a reason.
tax return is
It isn't, but you're a good goy who has been conditioned to compulsively spend extra money on junk so I don't blame you.
im sorry you are poor
I would not burn my money on moronic garbage even with it being infinite, likewise I'm not going to risk purchasing moronic garbage by putting up the money before the thing is even out yet.
>you are poor if you don't waste your money
Another great American wisdom. I'd be willing to be $1k that my networth is ten times higher than yours.
I don't know the ins and outs of American tax law, but I know that you are cucked by the IRS.
do you even know wtf tax return is?
You get automatic beta access if you pre-order. Then you can test it out and cancel if its shit. Checkmate atheists.
You shouldn't preorder games, unless it's from a series you absolutely love and now it's going to be good. In terms of d4, homosexuals who preorder the hyper homosexual edition will have three days of a headstart. They can be your guinea pig.
Diablo 1 is the best diablo game
That is so fricking ancient by now, and was already clunky when I played it as a kid. No idea what you people see in it. The only good thing was the atmosphere.
