There are autists who love it but they are autists. Titan's Quest was just given out for free, Last Epoch is very promissing, Grim Dawn, PoE, ect, all advanced from D2 in ways that were good for the genre. D2 as it is today is purely autism sim. I tried playing a Holy Shock Paladin last year and I was bored out of my fricking mind half way through act 1. I tried a javazon after and I couldn't make it to act 3. Don't get roped in by the nostalgia homosexuals out there, it is a relic of the past.
you dropped those chars before they even got their main abilities, you goomba. of course it was boring. javazon is a slog until you hit 30 with lightning fury and holy shock is at 24
bud titan's quest doesn't even have random gen maps and the chat is the clunkiest shit ever seen in a video game >I tried a javazon after and I couldn't make it to act 3.
You fricking suck idiot stop pretending to play ARPGS if you get filtered in the 2nd hour
I'd agree honestly. You'd either have to be autistic or install mods to enjoy Diablo 2 now.
Nostalgia probably wouldn't even carry me past Normal mode -- I've already played vanilla more than enough
Diablo II is a true 90s game. The story is irrelevant as all frick, and you only play it for the gameplay. You are supposed to experience the game first by yourself and then go multiplayer to get help for a hard boss, or to find some sweet gear. If you don't like playing the game solo then this isn't the game for you.
I bought D2 today and I already regret it an hour in. It's pure autism because like says, its a 90's game through and through.
I just don't have the patience nor the temperament to compete on how fast I can ninjaloot yellow and orange pixels against other autists. That's really what multiplayer boils down to.
How did you miss the part, in the months leading up to this day, where D2R would be the exact same game that was released in 2000, but with new shiny graphics?
I didn't. I missed the part where my sensibilities changed since the last time I played it >15 years ago.
But let's be real here. It's a looting competition. That's all it ever was. How fast can you ninjaloot from other players?
Its kind of weird, playing once for the story is ok, but you're missing out on the good skills until you're halfway through chapter 4. It would be much more fun if you could simply start at level 25-30 in nightmare and have that as the story mode
>today's standards
the arpg genre >path of exile, a fluke game with devs who prove over and over its success was accidental and solely rode off of diablo 3 being dog shit, probably the best game in the genre currently but criminally mismanaged >diablo 3, an arcade dungeon crawling game like gauntlet that could entirely have its looting system removed and have all legendary special mods turned into unlockable passives and the game would play the exact same if not better, fun for a few days a year with friends and that's it >grim dawn, fun single player game with no ladder and bad endgame and dead multiplayer >titan quest, grim dawn's 50 year old cousin in an 80 year old's body, game plays and looks like shit and a majority of the paid dlc is terrible and makes the game worse >every random stupid ass warhammer, darksiders, etc spinoff 3rd party cash in shit game that have at best 4-6 hours of playtime if you like to play awful games, none of these are even worth pirating >victor vran, lol don't even need to say anything about this joke of a game >last epoch, looks good but is far off from being a finished game worth investing a lot of time into >torchlight, every single one of these games is boring uninspired and awful with 2 being just okay for a one run and done kinda thing, only people left who play these games are modders that have low functioning autism
i'd rather play a mod than just a remaster of the original game
project diablo 2, path of diablo, median xl, eastern sun, etc.
at least they change things up a bit (or a lot)
project diablo 2 is the closest diablo 2 mod to being good, the rest of them feel like you're playing some 15 year old's shitty warcraft 3 rpg custom map ESPECIALLY median xl, just play grim dawn if you want diablo 2 but with more classes and big numbers and no endgame
>just play grim dawn if you want diablo 2
Path of Exile is the closest feeling game to D2. Obviously it's very different, especially now since I haven't played it in like 5 years, but that's what it started as, a spiritual successor to D2.
Grim Dawn and Titan Quest have a different design philosophy with regards to the skill trees, the way potions work, tons of different little things that give them a unique feeling and identity apart from D2. Which is a commendation for those devs. They aren't like "D2 but more/bigger."
>waaah i hate the stamina mechanic waah game aged poorly
I love how zoomzooms and journos couldn't get past the first 30 minutes which after the stamina mechanic totally becomes a non-issue. Stick to your containment games.
Even then, why is it such an issue? Oh no you have to walk slower, or stop for a second, who gives a shit? Why the hell do zoom zooms even play video games anyway? I thought the idea was to be immersed in a character in a fictional world. Stupid shit like stamina and food mechanics was what teenage me loved back in the day.
By definition a game is filled with stupid arbitrary bullshit to make things seem more challenging. What does dribbling add to basketball or soccer? It adds an arbitrary challenge to make things more entertaining. If you hate it then frick off and play something else.
what do enemies add to the game? why do you have to kill them? why do you collect loot?
It's a video game, it has mechanics that are made so that you can waste your time playing the game.
Gotta say I definitely got used to some of the quality of life changes they brought in for D3. Using more than a couple of skills in D2 feels so clunky - you can't freely bind skills to left mouse button? Only attack skills.
I played for 9 hour straight when it launched, took a 2 hour break and then played for another 8 hours straight
I haven't grinded a game this hard in over a decade, i can barely do a 4 hour gaming session nowadays but i just pulled a double shift on it out of nowhere
I fricking live it
I've tried a few of these games but I don't get the appeal, why do people play multiplayer when you can solo content and grind for items forever when you can do content without it?
>why do people play multiplayer
for more experience, to get to higher levels faster >you can solo content and grind for items forever
low level items are shit and higher level items are easier to farm solo if you're a higher level
none of us did

Titan Quest was outdated on release, the game has static layouts.
STATIC LAYOUTS.
bud titan's quest doesn't even have random gen maps and the chat is the clunkiest shit ever seen in a video game
>I tried a javazon after and I couldn't make it to act 3.
You fricking suck idiot stop pretending to play ARPGS if you get filtered in the 2nd hour
the random maps in diablo are shit
Titan quest released 6 years later and had NONE.
I'd agree honestly. You'd either have to be autistic or install mods to enjoy Diablo 2 now.
Nostalgia probably wouldn't even carry me past Normal mode -- I've already played vanilla more than enough
Any of these games get boring after you play them a lot just FYI.
>Grim Dawn, PoE, ect, all advanced from D2 in ways that were good for the genre
it's been going backwards since the first Diablo
i'm playing project diablo 2 instead, feels good
>play d2r solo
>very hard, too slow and boring
>play d2r in group
>content goes by way too fast
>dont even have time to stop to listen to the quest

its not the exact same game sadly, its the shitty 1.10+ version with clown runewords and shitty mob and skill balance to appeal to multiplayer autists
1.09 is the chad version
Its kind of weird, playing once for the story is ok, but you're missing out on the good skills until you're halfway through chapter 4. It would be much more fun if you could simply start at level 25-30 in nightmare and have that as the story mode

good
ladders transform the game into competitive autism
How can you complain about Grim Dawn's endgame when Diablo 2 literally has no endgame?
Also Last Epoch at it's current state has more content than D2.
>just play grim dawn if you want diablo 2

What about Sacred, it was almost as big as Diablo 2 in my area back in the day
Frick you zoomers, I am loving the remake.
because you are a moron
also it's a remaster
Zooms zooms like you who refuse to admit that they like anything is the reason the modern gaming industry is such an addiction driven shitfest.
Games don't age, people do.
>ITT If you don't have severe ADHD you have autism
the absolute state of zoomies
i'd rather play a mod than just a remaster of the original game

D2 has great art design and fantastic sound, shame the gameplay is so bad
man i took the day off work today to play and the servers were down for literally 3 hours in total. what a fricking joke
bitches filtered
all is as it should be
upvoted

Diablo 2 is pretty barebones compared to later releases, obviously.
so.. the whole 1 later release?
I was talking about the genre itself.
