I played the last beta for about 4 weeks, all the way to Lv100, on a Sorc. Was pretty fun, mix of D2 and D3, with a bit PoE.
Only the Campaign was missing but no homosexualy or woke shit.
It's going to hide all the shit people will be pissed about in the beta so it'll be hard to tell. Battlepass, endless grinding systems, etc. will all be hidden until the full release for sure.
This. They did the same thing with Immortal. They will hide the most egregious things until live release, so that the beta testers will give out incomplete information and help create false impressions that the game is actually worth people's time and money.

i'd say that combat and items is more like D2, skills and stats are like D3 with some additions and new bits (like fractured, overpower and vulnerable), history and ambience is D2 + new content, skill trees do seem lacking at first but when u got to tinker with them they open a lot of options for different builds

Diablo 1 on PS1 used the Dpad. Console arpgs use the analog. Immortal uses wasd control. No reason to be dragging your character around snorting items.

I dont really get how to use the different equipped weapons.
I think certain skills are bound to certain weapons. Like Frenzy will always use your Dual Wield weapons, that Skewer move uses your 2H Sword, Upheavel is your 2H Mace etc.
in case you are wondering, some skills can be switched to certain weapons (Right click on the Skill, then I think Middle Mouse Button will toggle which weapon it will use) but some moves (Frenzy, Skewer) are 1 weapon type only.
I'm pretty sure its almost on purpose nowadays, bad publicity is still publicity.
They absolutely know how many people will attempt to log on on release but it doesnt matter that it should work for everyone.

I'd like to think its a beta and there might be more but its not a deal breaker. I'm confused by what you mean by options, they are standard.
Not really, the closed beta had more options. They had a makeup option that I didn't see in the open beta. They removed many tattoos and skin tones. The UI is also dumbed down. Don't know what the frick is going on with this game. I was expecting some progress after playing the closed beta but it looks like it regressed. The talent trees are the only thing that improved slightly.

i've been wondering the same. i couldn't enjoy diablo 2 (res) at all, while ragnarok online, a "diablo like" mmo, is one of my favorite games. i want to be proven wrong, so many non-moronic people think d2 is a 10/10 game.

getting mad stutter when i walk around, some people saying it's the unreal engine shader complication? not sure. playing on 3070ti and a brand new good cpu, the game runs at 130+ fps maxed out but will freeze for like a second or two at a time regularly, espcially in cutscenes
AWDS movement + lower camera angle would make this game a 10/10. But right now the mouse clicking is giga-awkward, and the camera angle is making me cringe because I can't see my player avatar waifu that I made.

How do I swap between weapons in my arsenal? I want to try the warhammer, and it's equipped, but my barb keeps using the dual axes.
I think certain skills are bound to certain weapons. Like Frenzy will always use your Dual Wield weapons, that Skewer move uses your 2H Sword, Upheavel is your 2H Mace etc.
Yeah that makes sense. I got the bludgeon skill or something and i couldnt do it with my two handed sword.
in case you are wondering, some skills can be switched to certain weapons (Right click on the Skill, then I think Middle Mouse Button will toggle which weapon it will use) but some moves (Frenzy, Skewer) are 1 weapon type only.

Besides the fact that potentially allows people to cheat as long as they do it in the tutorial section, it fricks with the flow of things. Imagine instead of waiting an hour upfront in a queue, you instead play the tutorial for ~20 minutes THEN have to wait an hour in the queue.

Not really, the closed beta had more options. They had a makeup option that I didn't see in the open beta. They removed many tattoos and skin tones. The UI is also dumbed down. Don't know what the frick is going on with this game. I was expecting some progress after playing the closed beta but it looks like it regressed. The talent trees are the only thing that improved slightly.

It has been this way since diablo 1. Does runescape have wsd movement? No, it doesn't.
Thats not a reason why it can't be an option.
There are several reasons why it shouldn't be an option.
The most important one is dev time and the others are related to it in one way or the other.
If the game only has RTS-style movement that works through pathfinding, it means devs don't have to spend time implementing directional movement, movement collision, etc.
Similarly, how games with WASD movement rarely offer the RTS-style movement option because that would require working on pathfinding instead.
Enemies also have to be balanced around the available movement options.
With RTS-style movement, devs might decide to reward attempts of manually evading enemy attacks by making the enemy attack range minimally short, allowing the play to get away from attacks as long as they went through the effort of moving the mouse and clicking the button. Even if the difficulty of dodging regular hits successfully is trivial, it'll be inherently balanced due to the necessary player input being relatively burdensome.
Meanwhile, if WASD-movement is a thing, that approach doesn't work anymore, as here "moving out of the minimally short attack range" only takes a single button tap with no downsides. So, it would limit the creative freedom of the devs and require them to balance things in a different manner. Which is, again, dev time.
The vast majority of games are balanced around their respective movement systems from the ground up. If you want a hack 'n' slash ARPG with WASD movement, you can play the Borderlands series which does exactly that.

All I want is a better Diablo 2. That is not hard to ask from a AAA company with years of experience like Blizzcucks. However, they fricked up OW2 I'm surprised they haven't fricked up DF. I have 0 faith in them but I'll wait till the game is release to see if I should spend my hard earned $70.
