The game has a very solid foundation and mechanics underneath everything. It's looking like it could easily be an 8/10 ARPG if they handle the endgame + seasons properly where they keep building onto the base foundation.
My main complaint right now is that it seems like it's lacking in depth when it comes to the skill trees and how it's very likely that most people will just flock to whatever is the best meta build on each class, to the point that everyone will have the same build, the same paragon boards, the same glyphs and chase the same unique/ancestral/sacred items, instead of having a couple of viable builds. I guess we'll see how they do with balancing.
Its like a ~6/10 if I were to be frank with how the betas felt
its an arpg so this score can go up or down pretty fast if there isn't enough substantial things to do beyond the campaign, plus Blizzard can still pull a fast one and put player power in battle passes at any point
I was excited until playing the beta. It's alright, might be fine for one playthrough but certainly not for the pricepoint. Nothing about it sticks with you tho. Combat is surprisingly dull, loot never gave a single feeling of excitement, story is dismal, npcs were... can anyone name one in the main town? Can anyone remember the name a zone that wowed you? What was the name of the act 1 boss?? The game was made in a board of directors room by people who look down on the losers they're selling to. 6.5/10
Controller plays incredibly smooth in D4. The only thing where you'll be at a disadvantage in any way is for teleport/leap/etc. abilities and for inventory of course(although you could just swap to mouse instantly on the fly when doing inventory management). Other than that, it has 100% full native controller support.

I played the beta and while I liked the graphics and overall atmosphere the art direction was going for, I found myself quite bored with the low level gameplay. Maybe it gets better, but for the cost and an online subscription I'd rather skip on it and maybe get it on sale a few years from now.

2 is really dated, tbh. I picked it up for the first time with friends and the genre has expanded so much since the game came out that it feels really shallow and repetitive. 3 is fine for what it is, but the endgame is quite boring, if I'm being honest. You basically make a build that wipes the screen or dies in one hit.
4 is hard to tell because the beta was all low level, so the gameplay you'll experience the most isn't available. It seemed interesting, and a decent balance of depth and accessibility, but there's quite a few red flags with the game, notably battlepass and nu-blizz.
If you like ARPG loot games, then I guess get 4, but if you don't steer clear because it won't be fun

They toned down mobility heavily in comparison. There's no rifts. Artstyle is bleak but not remotely spooky. I liked having color.

The game has a very solid foundation and mechanics underneath everything. It's looking like it could easily be an 8/10 ARPG if they handle the endgame + seasons properly where they keep building onto the base foundation.
My main complaint right now is that it seems like it's lacking in depth when it comes to the skill trees and how it's very likely that most people will just flock to whatever is the best meta build on each class, to the point that everyone will have the same build, the same paragon boards, the same glyphs and chase the same unique/ancestral/sacred items, instead of having a couple of viable builds. I guess we'll see how they do with balancing.

its an arpg so this score can go up or down pretty fast if there isn't enough substantial things to do beyond the campaign, plus Blizzard can still pull a fast one and put player power in battle passes at any point
I was excited until playing the beta. It's alright, might be fine for one playthrough but certainly not for the pricepoint. Nothing about it sticks with you tho. Combat is surprisingly dull, loot never gave a single feeling of excitement, story is dismal, npcs were... can anyone name one in the main town? Can anyone remember the name a zone that wowed you? What was the name of the act 1 boss?? The game was made in a board of directors room by people who look down on the losers they're selling to. 6.5/10

Can I play with a controller reasonably well? I cant really game with a keyboard and mouse anymore like I used to.
Controller plays incredibly smooth in D4. The only thing where you'll be at a disadvantage in any way is for teleport/leap/etc. abilities and for inventory of course(although you could just swap to mouse instantly on the fly when doing inventory management). Other than that, it has 100% full native controller support.
Ill just hope Druid doesnt have too many etc. abilities then. Thanks.
Druid's Shred leaps to a target automatically and Trample is just a straight forward charge in a line, so you're good to go with Druid on controller.

2 is really dated, tbh. I picked it up for the first time with friends and the genre has expanded so much since the game came out that it feels really shallow and repetitive. 3 is fine for what it is, but the endgame is quite boring, if I'm being honest. You basically make a build that wipes the screen or dies in one hit.
4 is hard to tell because the beta was all low level, so the gameplay you'll experience the most isn't available. It seemed interesting, and a decent balance of depth and accessibility, but there's quite a few red flags with the game, notably battlepass and nu-blizz.
If you like ARPG loot games, then I guess get 4, but if you don't steer clear because it won't be fun

only 1 build on druid is capable of that and the rest suck sshit. everyone of his builds uses the same generator because they all suck dick. Half his abilitiese are marred by cooldowns or zdps, ust because pulverize exists doesnt make him a good class.

I simply do not trust ActiBlizz after everything they've done recently (OW2, WoW Token in Classic, etc). So I'm not giving them any money until I can be sure this won't become a similar rug-pull debacle in 2 months or some bullshit.

Wasnt sure since from all the gameplay footage Ive seen of the snow place there doesnt really seem to be any hub area like Diablo 2 had in every Act.
You can co op from the start, but co op during the campaign is awful. You are forced to jump into conversations or you get kicked. And half the time I got kicked even when accepting.
Surely they must be fixing that.
