Diablo is just a bunch of repetitive MMO style pointing and clicking and I don't know why people pretend it's so great. It may unironically have helped lower the bar for the whole industry.

>am I cool for hating the popular video game yet
Got any actual arguments?
>playing Diablo 2 pre 2021
Based
>Playing Diablo 2 post 2021
Cringe
What's significant about 2021?
You're looking at it with zoomer vision. It was revolutionary - the forefathers of many games and the RPG genre.
what other games were like it at the time? it pioneered dark, mature fantasy
I played this game way too young at 11 at my older cousin's at a sleep over and it was the foundation for the love of computer games.
>the forefathers of many games
Shitty point and click bullshit games
>and the RPG genre.
Now this is just moronic, bro. I honestly can't believe you called me a zoomer.
"Shitty point and click bullshit games"
literally every game played on PC is this.
What?
It's hilarious that you zoomzooms actually believe this.
why do you keep making these d2 hate threads?
>why
Mind your own fricking business, butthole.
youre in my board, you made it my business. youre that shitter that was crying about his garbage skele build arent you
>youre in my board
Based, but eat shit. And no that's not me.
it's blizzard shills, unironically. Gotta murder d2/3 before 4's release.
It was good at the time it was released because it was something new, different, and polished. Now it's just a relic of a bygone era Activision is still trying to milk.
You should have bought some before Christmas. Now it's too late.
Diablo 4 will never be good, the mount thing is the proof that they don't give a shit, i didn't play the game but the way it seems it looks like they took everything from d3, diablo don't work if you out cooldown on abilities, oike a moba, i don't get why they do stuff like that, the formula is there. Ah, before i forget, those transitions that the character jump up and down ledges and stuff is so ridiculous, omg, it breaks the flow
True. It's unfortunate that it's tied in with a game that has great atmosphere, it gives the appearance of being a good game.
I think I just need to write off the whole genre like gacha/idlers.
I think risk of rain or some other fast paced roguelite is the best the genre can be. You get the gambling and looting but the game respects your time more. Some of em even have decent gameplay.
The D2 gameplay loop is unbelievable
This, honestly. The sense of progression is fine tuned so perfectly that you’ll almost always have something to do at any given moment. It’s addictive as frick.
>gameplay loop
I hate this Reddit meme so much it's unreal.
>Beat game
>Beat the game again, except difficulty is higher!
>Beat the game again, except difficulty is even higher!
>Now do the same "run" over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.
yeah great gameplay loop.
Nothing's stopping you from quitting after beating Baal once(per difficulty or otherwise).
It's a decent game, that's about it. It was never the holy grail as many people blinded by nostalgia believe. D2R gets updates every season but you can tell how held back it is by its fanbase from really blossoming into something better. The ladder is essentially "Which streamer gets carried to the top" so to play it competitively is moronic. If you play it for build variety and gameplay it's beaten to a pulp by D3. D2 is the favorite son that grew up and never left home, over appreciated, spoiled even though it does nothing spectacular and is the epitome of mediocrity it gets by on memories from 23 years ago.
>MMO style
never played an mmo before have you
I used to feel this way, but the fun isn't in the quests or even the gameplay for the most part. It's almost all about building your character. Which is funny because a lot of people who play these games allow characters guides which basically ruins the whole aspect of the genre itself.
play titan quest
huh, I dont even remember buying it on steam
thanks anon, installing it
I only have the Anniversary Edition. Is this version good enough or are the new expansions necessary like in Grim Dawn?
>only playable with carefully copied meta builds
So how exactly is this a role playing game?
>Diablo is just clicking!
Why is this "complaint" regurgitated so much for just Diablo and games like it when you could simplify 99% of games down to the most basic of actions?
Diablo 2 thread?
I don't like what they've been doing with the new patches. The new Assassin is fricking moronic with particle effects out of the ass and clearing entire screens in one attack. It's like PoE gameplay and I fricking hate that game.
These games are for midwits like most rpgs and fantasy genre.
What's your favorite game?
whats wrong with having a casual "right click c**ts after work with a beer" game?
not every game has to be pants shitting adrenaline or le ebin storytelling.
just fricking chill anon and you'd probably make less shitty threads like this
I've never understood the appeal although I do like Nioh.
Is Nioh good for people who like Diablo or is it more focused on action game input autism?
>action game input autism
This does not apply to Nioh at all because once you get your character build situated you just roll through any opposition. Diablo 1 unironically has more strategic combat because you at least have to kite enemies.
I think Nioh is easy to break but there is also a shitton of variety. They didn't really care about balance. Plus you can always just over level if you're bad or you want to use a shitty build. I only compare it to Diablo because there is a lot of loot.
The core of Diablo 2 (and other similar games like Grim Dawn/PoE) is in the character building and the loot hunt. The mindless point and click gameplay isn't bad but not good enough to carry the game by itself.
Well that's fricking stupid and you're moronic.
Try hardcore single kill everything.
Also no save game and exit game cheesing. Play the game roguelike
You can do this shit with any game it doesn't make it good.
But have you done this with D2?
I have not.
Well try it. Grinding makes so many game mechanics and aspects of each class a lot worse. Playing the game roguelike makes strategically playing the game matter a lot
