D2R was excellent, though that was a smaller contracted studio, vicarious visions. Headed by a woman actually. D4 creatively is like a Marvel movie compared to the redone horror art + oldschool music/themes in D2R.
Diablo games exist to give people an opportunity to look cooler than someone else. That’s pretty much it. Not many games cater to a no-lifer more than Diablo. Not even FPS games. If you step foot in Diablo IV, you’re basically paying to give your time to get into a no-lifer’s arena. They’re literally sucking your time down the drain, and then after showing you how much cooler they are in the game, they’re gonna tell you gg no re, uninstall.

The will have a ton of pointless 'mini'grinds like an MMO and other MMO-lite elements, so it MIGHT be worth if you're grinding accounts for selling. From the betas it's just shitty rep grind though (for now).
As for the gameplay itself - It's pretty flat and limited, character/build customization is as barebones as ever and with Blizzard support it's gonna get blander if they focus on the MMO elements so its 'accessible'. Personally, I think the game is 'fine' if it was F2P, otherwise it feels like one of those Gameloft mobile 'ARPGs' of where you just go through super linear dungeons and you get to do an event from the main menu (world bosses), except this time you walk there instead of hitting a button. It just feels like shitty gameplay and terrible dungeons.
Also, the whole literal shilling tactic of goading people that they’re too poor to afford the Emperor’s new clothes is definitely a bold tactic, but I feel that Actiblizz has burned far too much good will over the past decades for it to be a viable tactic.

Usually with a free track everyone gets and at least one paid track. Sometimes you can buy battle pass skips, sometimes you can't.

The actual chad move is to wait until you've maxed out the free track, then buy the paid track. That way you know you won't drop the game halfway through.
better games also give enough tokens to buy the next pass without further investments like fortnite or cod does, but this shit? it will give you like 800 and the pass is gonna be 1000, so you can buy the pass now get 800 and buy the cheapest token pack for like $5 to get 500 tokens so you can buy the pass after that, grind it out, get your 800 + you'll have a lefotver 300 from that 500 pack you bought, so you can still buy the next one meaning 3 passes, but the 4th pass? nonono you have to buy another 500 token pack because you'll only have 900 tokens 🙂
The game is locked behind progression. So you must either play the game an incredible amount of time to get everything or more realistically for anyone with a job or a life, you pay extra money so you can get what you already paid for in a realistic amount of time playing the game.

The will have a ton of pointless 'mini'grinds like an MMO and other MMO-lite elements, so it MIGHT be worth if you're grinding accounts for selling. From the betas it's just shitty rep grind though (for now).
As for the gameplay itself - It's pretty flat and limited, character/build customization is as barebones as ever and with Blizzard support it's gonna get blander if they focus on the MMO elements so its 'accessible'. Personally, I think the game is 'fine' if it was F2P, otherwise it feels like one of those Gameloft mobile 'ARPGs' of where you just go through super linear dungeons and you get to do an event from the main menu (world bosses), except this time you walk there instead of hitting a button. It just feels like shitty gameplay and terrible dungeons.

It's shit you get for playing the game a certain number of hours every season. Different games do it differently but it basically boils down to a player retention mechanic. Usually with a free track everyone gets and at least one paid track. Sometimes you can buy battle pass skips, sometimes you can't.
The actual chad move is to wait until you've maxed out the free track, then buy the paid track. That way you know you won't drop the game halfway through.
better games also give enough tokens to buy the next pass without further investments like fortnite or cod does, but this shit? it will give you like 800 and the pass is gonna be 1000, so you can buy the pass now get 800 and buy the cheapest token pack for like $5 to get 500 tokens so you can buy the pass after that, grind it out, get your 800 + you'll have a lefotver 300 from that 500 pack you bought, so you can still buy the next one meaning 3 passes, but the 4th pass? nonono you have to buy another 500 token pack because you'll only have 900 tokens 🙂
