Same shit as all the other time-sink ARPGs. Gets boring and repetetive after 10 hours. >spend 100 hours grinding the same 5 procedurally-generated dungeons to earn the right to challenge some uber boss
Only morons put up with this type of game design. Normal people quickly realize that investing a lot of time into a grindy game is a waste of life, while moronic people think it's a bragging right.
I used to have a lot of fun playing Diablo 2 or Diablo 1. There was a good community even years after its release. I just did not feel that way with this one. Huge map that you need to invest hundreds of hours to find every altar of Lilith. Boring and pointless side quests. Feels repetitive of environments from the previous games: frozen barbarian north, arabesque deserts, and so on.

>grind to get to max level >grind dungeons to farm boss mats >get enough mats summon boss >grind that boss to get mats for next summon >run out of mats and start over, ad nauseum
It's so fricking shit. It's a grind of a grind of a grind of a grind.
this 'end game' system they implemented is fricking horrible
And the funniest thing is, all of the endgame "superbosses" are just reskins of campaign bosses, but with higher stats and maybe 1 new attack.
The game is a joke.

>You can literally boil down any video game into a gameplay loop if you wanted to lmfao
God of War has a gameplay loop of killing monsters and getting new abilities, but it's not boring since each area is unique and hand-crafted, and the game doesn't require mindless grinding.
ARPGs have gameplay loop of killing monsters and getting new abilities, but they quickly devolve into repeating the same-looking procedurally generated dungeons for hundreds of times.
You thought you were making a smart comback, anon, but turns out you're a dishonest lying c**t.
>God of War has a gameplay loop of killing monsters and getting new abilities, but it's not boring since each area is unique and hand-crafted, and the game doesn't require mindless grinding.
not the anon you responded to but holy frick you are actually moronic
god of war is a single player "le cinematic" experience with little replay value, if you play on any difficulty harder than normal enemies become damage sponges, and yeah you get new abilities but your build variety is extremely limited compared to an arpg, your example is extremely moronic since you are comparing apples and oranges its like comparing sim racing to gta, makes no sense and another thing is people like grinding, which is something you are to moronic to understand
>my ARPG game has tons of replay value because each playthrough offers a variety of new builds >you only need to invest 100 hours every single time you want to enjoy playing a new build!
ARPG morons really think like this. They have no respect for their time. If fact, they feel proud and accomplished of grinding the same mobs in the same dungeons for hundreds of hours, "but this time I use lightning spell instead of unga bunga spin2win skill".
>>you only need to invest 100 hours every single time you want to enjoy playing a new build!
no you dont and the fact is working towards the build is the fun part moron and if im playing for hundreds of hours and ENJOYING it that means i got a lot more value out of my game than you holy frick youre moronic, its pointless to argue with you

>working towards the build is the fun part
It's not. Most of the builds don't feel fun to play until you invest 50-100 hours into getting the correct items. It only becomes fun once the synergies and desireable stats are met.

My review is that I uninstalled it months ago and am currently playing Season 30 of Diablo 3. Yet Season 30 of Diablo 3 is extremely lackluster. Playing as Unhallowed Essence Multishot Demon Hunter because it's literally STILL the only build that clears the entire screen of enemies. Also it's one of the few builds that were buffed, instead of nerfed into the fricking ground, like most of the "top builds".
wtf is wrong with you playing d3/d4 shitter when project diablo II exists?
are they severely brain damaged or are they just not aware still?
if you want the best item game in existence, you play PD2
Lost ark is one of the worst games that I have played. The 'aesthetic' makes me physically sick.
Part of Lost Ark is simping for some chick in the tavern as if I want to do that.
Reinstalled for the new Season, saw the dev post yesterday and uninstalled. Nothing groundbreaking. Just wait for the expansion and pray that they have a total itemization overhaul. Until then, looking forward and trying to build some hype/fomo for Last Epoch next month.
>pray that they have a total itemization overhaul
you goys will literally never learn. blizzard itemization died with WoW, let alone D3-- or God forbid-- D4 LOL
I got the game for 40 and I still feel like I'm trying to justify the purchase. I like the seasonal content but I realized at some point I'm just playing an MMO and I'm kind of disappointed.
I do like how Necromancer plays. But the game feels more like busywork the more I play it. I'm not excited to keep running on the gear treadmill.
I feel the same way. I'm almost level 50, but the grind is real. We all only have so much time. Not sure why I'm wasting time playing this game when I bought other games that are actually decent and rewarding.
The problem is the monetization. Its not a horrible game if you like ARPG grind in and of itself, but they added the battle pass shit, the seasons (paid and limited). Hell, they had a certain world boss in the fricking BETA that was an exclusive mount that if you didn't beat it when it spawned every couple of hours for like 1 or 2 days max, whoops lost your chance. Frick that kind of FOMO. Add to this the paid battle passes for seasons when before they used to be basically free seasonal gear in D3. THen after all that insult to injury - $30 fricking skins for the player, the horse and all kinds of other shit NOT part the battle pass (which would be bad enough on its own)..
I don't know who thought this was a good idea. The game itself, the updates and seasons okay fine...but they clearly looked at gacha grind and the way everything was going and their activision sense tingled right up their asses.
The next 3 months will be super fricked because of this
[...]
.. I am just doing the campaign now and it's fun. I got 30 hours deep, just finished Act I only. So if I do like 80 hours to finish the campaign and leave the game, I guess I will be satisfied.
It's a 6/10. It's likely going to be a repeat of D3, where the game will become fun after the first expansion and 1-2 patches afterwards, so check back at the end of the year.
I don't think it'll follow d3's trajectory because they so thoroughly fricked up the base game that bolting on new shit won't make it better & the fact the current diablo devs seem like they have no clue what they're doing.
I agree, even in the beta I was screaming from the rooftops that the game needed to be delayed by at least one year. My estimation was that by the end of summer we should have the Base game, but I see now that could've been a generous guess. All in all, I'm in total agreement that Diablo 4 has a solid foundation - the engine and graphics, sound design, it just needs more time. IIRC, Diablo 3 only really became one of my favourite games an expansion and a few seasons in.
>back to grimdark gothic
Check. >satisfying steel to flesh viable melee combat back
Check. >archer with the option to use daggers or swords any combination at each hand
Check. >long solo single player content/campaign

Check. >rated R
Check.
This is what I wanted from D3, I am good with D4. Good sequel.
The writing wasn't terrible either. Actually felt things and it wasn't just a Marvel movie with heavy exposition and things I recognize. It is weird to have a Diablo sequel without Diablo though.
Mine is maybe a 6 or 7 out of 10.
It was disappointing considering the hype. And why didn't they include a new character class like the Blood Knight?
because they plan on making you pay $100 for the new expansion that includes a class in it, goy
5/10 at launch, maybe 6/10 now
in a couple years it might be a solid 8
It's totally dead. Don't waste your time on this.
Yeah, man. Sometimes I'll log in and about three to zero people are playing the game. Forget world bosses since you're going to be doing them alone.
Same shit as all the other time-sink ARPGs. Gets boring and repetetive after 10 hours.

some people like that gameplay loop

Legitimately rather play D3 instead of PD2.
so brain damage
Yes, because path of diablo 3 is so much better
its project diablo 2 not path of diablo moron
no? its project diablo 2
isn't that staff from median xl?
D3 is ARPGs for the biggest morons in the genres history.
3/10. Like why would you turn diablo into lost ark? WHY?
Better than Lost Ark at least. Not saying much.
Lost ark is one of the worst games that I have played. The 'aesthetic' makes me physically sick.

D4's game systems are so fricked that an item rehaul wouldn't fix anything. You would need to gut the skill and paragon systems as well.
Has Diablo ever been more besides busywork? Diablo 1 was a roguelike but D2 was pretty much an MMO lite only difference was you could be alone.
I feel the same way. I'm almost level 50, but the grind is real. We all only have so much time. Not sure why I'm wasting time playing this game when I bought other games that are actually decent and rewarding.

I'm enjoying it, so maybe a 7 out of ten. The class selection is worse than D3 sadly. I thought Demon Hunter was more creative than just Rogue.

Abandon All Ye Hope/10
