You are naive if you think a children's game like TOTK will significantly affect D4 active players. They are different demographics and only manchildren "35 years old still playing WoW" overlap. D4 was designed and marketed for new players.

It's only this beta that gets you the mount? I killed the world boss in the earlier betas.
This one is exclusive to this "server slam" event. You need to be lvl 20 and kill that world boss. You can also earn the previous rewards if you didn't have them.
is that easy or time consuming? I only ask because I've never played a Diablo game before and might have some free time today/tomorrow to check it out
getting to lvl 20 is fairly easy, it takes about three to five hours depending on how you go about it. the world boss will be tougher than before because the players are capped at 20 for this beta instead of 25 when the boss is 25.

Any tips about Barb? Just started, not even level 10 but feels kinda shitty tbh.
The way I leveled barbarian got nerfed but it should still work fine super early on. Make those thorns elixirs asap and keep them up, upheaval and the shouts were very strong, but hota was also solid if that feels better. The generator I used was the one with increasing attack speed, whatever its called. It felt the best for me to just quickly gain rage then dump with upheaval. Barb does feel bad early on but not quite as bad as druid does.
Ah I see, didn't think about potions at all thanks. Been using the same basic skill, Frenzy and was using Double Swing as my core skill but didn't feel good against lots of enemies, switched to Rend and it was quite a bit better.
I can't believe they didn't fix it, the leveling experience was dogshit last time. Guess I'll skip this beta since Druid was the only class I didn't max last time.

I'm enjoying the game play, but I rather just play like Path of Exile, cause like the main reason I WOULD play Diablo is for the Role Playing and there is none in this game. Why would my Necromancer, a class that I view as reclusive and at least slightly evil, give a frick about some village, and even if she did, why would she party with them? That whole scene with the barn was annoying cause I don't even get the choice to be like, "IDK" before they coax me into eating the food. Unironically Gacha bullshit like Honkai: SR does a better job with that aspect then a game that should be devoted to it.

necromancer is all about balance of life and death, demon and angel realms.. If he ever went demonic/light coruupted, Trag'Oul would explode his ass in gore. They also dislike angels just like they dislike demons, for upseting the balance and bringing their wars into sanctuary

It's really not that hard, you're never out of corpses outside of maybe a boss fight if you didn't choose your skills properly. If you keep all them up, resummoning them buffs and heals them. So idk what you're complaining about.

The issue is more when your skeles die in a boss fight and you have nothing to use for rez. Gotta do that one spell but its channeled and the boss has no other target but you.

Bone Necro was the only viable build in the endgame closed beta and even then you'd be outdone in both single target DPS and AoE by Sorcs and kitted out Druid.
I played a frick ton of the closed beta already. Might install it to try out the Druid though.

I was sold on the game until I heard about the additoinal monetization battle pass scheme. I think I'll be passing on this one. By all means, enjoy the game lads but I think the Diablo series is dead for me.
This is my gripe as well. The one thing I hate above all else in the modern gaming industry is buying a game, and then you have to keep paying more and more forever unto eternity if you want to keep getting all the same rewards as other paypigs. $70+a $20 battle pass every three months or whatever is fricking gay.

That's what I'm saying. To many nuwriters hate the "chosen one" story, but they always write it even though they try to make the MC some random nobody. Why on earth would some random even believe they have the chops to kill a literally demon mother? There's no reason for the MC to take this quest. There's no characters to latch on to because they're all cookie cutter archetypes. There's no RPing in this roleplaying game. It's sad cause the opening cutscene sets an level of expectation, that the game itself had no chance of living up to.

This has been an interesting couple hours.
My oldest brother is a big fan of the series and the genre in general. We usually play ARPGs together once a week or so. He is so hyped for the game that it's basically all he can talk about. He can't play it until tomorrow due to family obligations and work, but I don't have such issues so I played it.
Really disappointing, I played as a necromancer and your minions are so damn squishy that I ended up giving up on Them. Thankfully they let you do a non-minion necro and let you take passives instead of minions, but why even make a necromancer at that point? Also the combat is really punchy but you have this feedback like you're plowing through hordes but you have to swing 3 or 4 times to kill anyone. I just felt like the game lost the dumb action gameplay of 3 and is trying something really void of anything, at least diablo 3 felt good to play mindlessly.

Levelling with 2/3 skills, and even with XP points its a skill twig with barely any options. D3 was far more complicated and most people think that game is oversimplified.

Depends. A game that can be completed in a few hours with little to no replay isn’t worth more than a movie (like $5). If a game has loads of content and a real endgame that allows you to sink hundreds if not hours of time into its worth the price of a regular video game.
"Replay" is entirely dependent on you. It isn't something a game can give you within itself, besides being very fricking good. You either like a game enough to replay it, or you do not.
True, I’ve played through a few games multiple times before because I liked it, however while I’d place monetary value on how good a story is, I’d also place it for enjoyment (obviously) and how much time I can put into it before I’m essentially burnt out. No matter how much I like a certain video game story I’m not going to keep replaying it, a game like Borderlands 2 for example has an ok story, but a lot of replay ability and end game content.

Well, I've stopped to play. The game is super, ultra boring, too many cinematics, silly story, long cinematics.
I don't know about the advanced gameplay, but I don't really think it's a better experience compared to D3. I won't even compare to D2 because it would too unfair.
The animations are horrible and the game is like, 80GB? So far all the cinematics that should've been in game, but I think it's a movie, that's why the game is so big. It doesn't make any sense. Anyway, I didn't like it.

The skeletons just eat shit instantly and there aren't enough mooks to make more corpses, so I just walk around for 10 minutes doing fricking no damage until it finally kills me

Took me like 3 hours and some change to get to level 20 going slow, I realized that it's pretty much meta to just bumrush the southeast, with all those ghoul mobs, you can get a level every couple minutes.
That said, I'm gonna beat the boss when it comes up tomorrow and think a bit about whether I want to buy. I don't agree with early purchases, but it seems like the game is leaning VERY heavily on season shit, which means by others getting in earlier, they're getting a direct advantage because of stupid timegating daily quests, if it's anything like immortal.
So, that's a thing I'm not into, but I actually did enjoy the combat. Other stuff like the way gearing/armoring/upgrading worked was less so.
The season won't start until mid to late July. I'm not a fan of early access but this won't impact the season, it's just to play it over the weekend instead of waiting.
Okay maybe it won't impact season progression, do we know about endgame progression, maxing out legendaries? Will it require daily quests? Weeklies?

This test has LESS content and LESS shit to see, things are MORE nerfed, and you get LESS experience. It's worse in every conceivable way, of course no one's fricking playing it.

No, towns are hubs, but they cap at like 50 people per instance. Once you leave a town's borders you're thrown in a 20 player cap instance of that "region" (highlighted section of an area on your map).

Also "the stronghold" there's like 6 strongholds. Do you mean the fricking prologue? Yeah, it's a bit spongey bullshit because you only have your basic and core, but if it's causing that much trouble, leave the dungeon, log out, log back in, it should reset the instance, and you can squeeze a few more levels out to get some extra passives.

I think the key is Debilitating Roar, and upgrading it to Fortify your health. Use that as an opener and then Pulverize's Overpower will hit like a truck.

Not that D2 was entirely bullshit free but somehow it managed realism, well as much as those graphics at the time could and yet it had visual clarity and most mechanics were avoidable after you learned what the mobs did. Off the top of my head the only real bullshit were Iron Maiden at Chaos Sanc, offscreen Lightning and Nithlatak Corpse Explosion.

I probably won't make a necro this time, but besides Ashava, this never once happened to me in the previous beta. Even the boss at the 30+ fortress I came out at nearly full health with max summons. I did spec defensively though and a couple key legendaries certainly helped, so everything was getting a free shield on the regular and healing whilst I sat on the boss endlessly spamming blood nova.

Yeah it feels worse in every way than D3 but you can tell that the same devs created the combat system and item progression. It has all the same cooldowns, generator/spenders, level scaled drops, extremely limited skill hotkeys, etc.
I think they don't actually have any old d3 designers around they just copied what d3 did because they were using the same engine so it was the cheap way that's why the core is so similar
the new devs working on it are probably some diversity hire freaks who suck so they weren't able to make the combat as good as it was in d3

I think it's close to the truth but not quite. They know that the game is bad but they need it for *long term* viewer trapping, not short term. You cant play God of War for 6h a day for years. You need some kind of empty soulless gacha game with a leaderboard, a live game. Even though the game is very bad right now they are hoping that it wont matter and they can keep milking this for years. Just look at how long quin69 takes before deciding which game to play next. None of the classes are fun. None of them. They all feel so weak. More than that, it's so fricking slow. Map is empty. No massive monster packs. It feels like a shitty Mobile MMO rather than an ARPG.

That's the problem with modern day Blizz attempting to make a "slower" ARPG. They have no idea how to do it because none of those old guys work at the company anymore so when they attempt it, the game comes off as a shitty and soulless imitation of a series they had no involvement with. They should just play to their strengths and turn it into a full arcade screen clearer like D3.
I managed to get Necro to level 20, even as nerfed as he is, but I give up with playing Rogue at level 12. Probably my most unfun gaming experience of this year.
Yeah I'm not entirely sure what happened. I only got a couple hours in with the open beta but it felt good and had me generally interested in buying at release. I just forced myself to get Necro and Druid to 20, while Necro was leaps and bounds easier than Druid (just sacrifice summons for the passives), I still feel... Hollow? I guess?
If there aren't hidden uniques in the data mining and more lego powers we aren't shown, I fear I'd be bored before level 50. There just doesn't seem to be any real jaw dropping builds to me. Also these Black folk need to learn that not every fricking build needs to be a builder/spender ffs.

I'd hoped after the "success" of D2R would slap some reality back into the hacks that have tried to turn ARPGs into MOBAs. Our level of enjoyment isn't based on apm, it's perfectly fricking fine to have passive or single button fricking gameplay in a single player game grinding focused game.
