Newer gens are more popular with normalcucks because the switch is a home console. Hence why Geeta got more art than Diantha because normalcucks never played any ds games
While that’s absolutely true, Geeta also has more screentime and better established relationships with other characters which makes her more fun to draw with the more popular characters. Unless you watch the anime or read adventures then there’s very little to go off Diantha from XY alone, which doesn’t stop other characters with even less things going on, but they’re either better looking or fill some niche.
Diantha is pretty forgettable in the games. She is more of a factor in the anime (which a lot of people didn't watch) and the manga (which a lot of people didn't read). Geeta has more screentime, a unique look, and has also become sort of a meme.

Masters alone has done more for Diantha XY ever did.

Geetas team was so bad that it actually generated more discussion of her character than Diantha’s.
Then they fixed her team in the DLC, where XY was not updated at all.
