Wrong PC had the best sim games, as for arcade there was solid stuff like Screamer, Carmaggedon, Network Q Rac Rally, NFS series, Trackmania, Flatout, Rallisport Challenge etc

            Sims don't have unlocks.
what game are you talking about?

Gran turismo isn't really a sim and you can just play arcade mode for fast cars anyway

              >Gran turismo isn't really a sim
              It's an MMORPG right?

the grinding is close to a rpg, yeah lol.
Driving-wise it's simcade, not completely unrealistic but not as strict as a sim either.

is it that bad? i thought the complains were mostly about the VN shit

No I'm saying Racing Lagoon is more RPG than Gran Turismo ever dreams to be, it's an awesome game

It's great as long as you tolerate the relatively low text speed of the VN sections.

So...you hate arcade games and not sims then? Because sims....dont have locked cars or tracks.

Show me one game in an arcade where you somehow have to unlock cars before being able to race them.

There are more and higher quality arcade racers on the PC than on any console. And there were also great simcades, like Viper Racing.

As soon as polygons became the norm in the mid 90's arcade racing games became PC's bread and butter

The Shutoko battle series (TXR) had an online PC version at one point, and I think there's a discord out there you can join or something to race around highways on a private server.

Personally I just stick to emulation. The FFB arcade plugin works on plenty of arcade titles, you can play everything from Virtua Racing/Rage Racer to modern Initial D releases. PS2 emulation is decent enough and you can use any wheel you want on it, unlike the actual console. Teknoparrot offers LAN support in a bunch of titles, so if you've got a buddy you can go head to head.

Personally I tend to prefer arcade style racing in actual sims. The SRP map for AC has plenty of servers, and you can live out your fantasy of being a weeb in the tuner era with 40 other people online.

It is not, and SEGA Rally, Touring car championship, GT and Daytona USA were ported. Also, if you want arcade experience in DOS, try Screamer.
