the phone system was pure soul...in GSC
the fact that you have to actively call people for rematches, and they're only available at certain times on certain days of the week, and there is nothing in the game to tell you anything about how the system works or who's available when, is fricking cancerous.
playing HGSS is a soul-rending experience on par with SM, and they remain the only pokemon games i've played but not finished.
I like them both but HGSS is better.
HGSS was the only time it felt like a Pokemon game went above and beyond expectations.
The fact that the Pokewalker exists and was included with the game is insane to think about now.
nah, but i still love platinum.
i was too young to play gen 2 and started with leafgreen so im like a zoomer genwunner lol.
hgss blew me away. 2 regions, 16 gyms, the red battle, pokewalker, and it has the battle factory from emerald and platinum???
I loved Platinum a lot, and even more when connecting it to Battle Revolution.
I never got to play GSC consciously so I was fairly excited for HGSS.
Then I got and it and it just wasn't clicking. I was not having much fun with it. I am actually one of those people who wanted to use Houndoom (like I actually did in Platinum) and then realized I was not allowed to. I had little enthusiasm for my final team and even had to slot in a legendary just to make it work by the end.
Then I got to the postgame and my enthusiasm was already faded. I did not savor transferring my mons from Platinum into HGSS.
It was just a bewildering disappointment at the time. I didn't know back then why I cared so little for it, but now years later with all the thorough Johto dissection that's happened on here, I actually comprehend how the games could be so underwhelming and why they are objectively flawed in the first place.
I liked platinum a lot more, I still do
HGSS had too many little inconveniences to be considered the best, it's regrettable how they didn't fix the problems the game had despite being willing to add an extra route and safari, at least their post-game is decent enough with rematches and legend quests even if the phone system is more annoying than other rematch systems
Nah, I pirated Platinum and it was still a fricking disappointment. In hindsight I've been a lot more kind to it, but in the moment HGSS was what really revitalized my interest in Pokemon. In a similar way, ORAS is what got me out of it. Oh well, I got USUM, I can live with that.
they're both pretty good but platinum doesn't reach the same heights
No
Cyrus > Team Rocket’s “Revival”
of course
In some ways, yes.
In other ways, no.
Been too long since I played Platinum to say.
Early-midgame of HGSS is a slog though.
It also sucks when the mons you want only learn semi decent moves before their stone evo right after the e4.
Goddamn exeggcute and slowpoke
Yes.
The fricked up bag and shit implementation of berries in HGSS make it impossible to be rated higher than Platinum for me
Also they retained the shitty phone system and didn't implement a vs seeker
The phone system was awful, keeping it for nostalgia reasons was moronic.

>The fricked up bag
bro DPP's bag is the worst one since gen 1. literally 90 seconds of scrolling
I wanna say no, but i haven't played Soul Silver in a long time

I liked the Pokéathlon. I wonder how well it works on the phone emulator.

it felt like the ultimate pokemon game
No because I played Diamond before and I felt ripped off
NO

If you didn't play HGSS(WITH the pokewalker) when it first came out you can't accurately rate it
