Did anyone here play this and other Blizzard games during the peak of Battle.net, circa 1999-2009? I have to say it was some of the most fun I've ever had online. I started playing competitive but soon got addicted to UMS maps, as the map variety was practically endless. I have very fond memories of those days.

That was blizzard during its prime. WC3 frozen throne was the last time I had fun with a blizzard game.

I entirely skipped over Warcraft 3 custom maps, so I played the shit out of SC1 customs.

    Diplo 7.7/infinity
    Blood pressure marathon
    Bunker wars
    "Naruto" style character battles
    Zombies
    The Thing
Intricate strategy games covering WW1, WW2, mediaeval, various scuffed settings

Good stuff. I loved Dawn of the dead maps more than the Resident evil ones, which were more RPG-like. The thing style maps always ended up with some player raging. WW1/WW2/diplomacy were too in depth for me. I preferred siege type maps like 300, Helm's deep and Heaven's last stand. I remember playing a 3 hour fantasy RPG map with some dudes, which was insanely long for a single map, and we lost at the end.

      >so I played the shit out of SC1 customs.
They were basically the same, anything that was made in wc3 eventually came to sc

You could do way more in WC3, SC didn't support commands through chat or complicated effects.

I actually did see one guy somehow do a map (or at least a prototype version) with chat commands, but yes in reality it wasn't there. I kind of appreciate the forced simplicity in retrospect, some things in starcraft 2 custom maps are so fricking bloated.

      >The Thing
I played the everloving shit out of those maps, specially the one in which everyone has a black colour and not being able to tell who's who
And it makes me cringe to me very core that game niche was claimed by the zoomer brainrot that is Amogus

You have to mention cat and Mouse! Unbalanced as hell in favor of mice but a lot of fun.
And there were these really cool adventure maps, I mostly remember a haunted house themed one that had a lot of neat scripting going on.

Yeah I was obsessed with SCBW and WC3. Frick Blizzard for killing old Battle.net and fricking up WC3.

Did anyone hear ever blogpost there and other images boards during the peak of Ganker, circa 2016-2023? I have to say it was some of the most fun I've ever had online. I started replying but soon got addicted to making threads, as the board variety was practically endless. I have very fond memories of those days.

you've hit euro hours so yeah
    >I started playing competitive but soon got addicted to UMS maps
me too, but that's only because I loved the game but was shit at it competitively as a kid, I couldn't manage tunnel vision at all
I loved Sand Castle Wars even though apparently its a more obscure map, people just sort of migrated to Desert Strikes. I really don't like the endgame in those
but there were tons, I distinctly remember Evolution Wars or however it was called, Cat&Mouse, all sorts of tower defence maps.
Nowadays the shit asiatics do with this engine is ridiculous, playing God Defence turned the game into a fricking casino complete with flashing lights and cheerful tunes
