Yes.
a bit I think, but mostly it's nomura's that's lost his touch; that or his team sucks bow
Sure KH was always really goofy and convoluted after KHI but even in this light KH3 is really inferior in writing and symbolics, i wonder what happened
Different writers+nomura didn't have such a prominent role until after KH2
Nomura is decent at creating moments, but he's abosulte trash at creating stories
after they dropped FF characters the series was done and nomura already confirmed it won't be any different with KH4 so gg.
They didn't drop FF characters.
There were no FF characters in 3 and Nomura said in an interview FF characters were used to attract people to the series but KH is now its own thing, it's hard to fit FF characters into an already large cast
>There were no FF characters in 3
Re mind doesn't count
KH only had a single good game that was released 20years ago. It's been mostly going downhill but with small ups along the way (Birth By Sleep)
No fricking doubt it does, Also you must be the same person creating these KH threads over and over again.
Listen here buddy, the only good KH games were 1 and 2 everything else was absolute DOG SHIT.
How many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man?
>everything after KH2 is bad
Reddit moment.
>more people like KH3 than KH1
Seems pretty based imo.
You mean the game that was an absolute snooze fest except for the very few Org fights it had/ Final boss?
Seems like they're zoomers to me.
>he didn't like the Toy Story level
Okay troony.
I'll be 42 in a few days and I like KH3 more than KH1. In fact I like most KH games more than KH1.
Must be a tran.
100% male and probably have a bigger dick than you.
Ganker the land of make belief.
You probably didn't play KH1 when it first released then.
Wrong again homosexual.
I played every single game when it first released.
In fact the only reason I bought KH1 was cause at the time, Squaresoft had never made a bad game.
THEN YOU SIMPLY HAVE SHIT FRICKING TASTE AND HAVEN'T MOVED OUT OF YOUR MOM'S BASEMENT
How anyone can play 1 and 2 back to back and call 2 the superior game is beyond me.
2 has flashier looking combat and better gummi missions. Aside from that, KH1 absolutely mogs 2 in every department.
>2 has flashier looking combat
never underestimate how many idiots see particle effects while they brainlessly mash buttons and think they're looking at incredible combat. just look at the yakuza games. more braindead than any western game but the flash tricks morons easily.
I personally prefer KH1 combat because RPG elements, strategy and party set up matter a lot more. Also, the combos feel “meatier” for some reason. Let’s not forget all the mechanics KH2 removed like Tech Points, Critical hits, being able to issue basic commands to your party members to attack/retreat mid battle, combos regenerating MP, status effects and so on. KH2 threw out so much in an attempt to be a discount DMC, except worse since only FM exclusive superbosses are difficult enough to require anything beyond basic button mashing.
Also,
>giant ursula
Can be killed in under a minute without taking any damage with Stop, Spiral Wave and Tornado.
Foreshadowed, yes, but then Ansem is never seen again until Hollow Bastion. You might even forget that exchange even happened in the 20+ hours between the meeting in the Secret Place and the cloaked figure resurfacing in Hollow Bastion again. You don’t even know who he is aside from the fact that he’s some creepy guy who’s probably up to no good.
>You don’t even know who he is aside from the fact that he’s some creepy guy who’s probably up to no good.
You are supposed to be reading the Ansem Notes as you unlock them. The dude from the notes being the villain is what surprised me.
>in the 20+ hours
Even as a kid it didn't take me over 20 hours to get to Hollow Bastion.
>Let’s not forget all the mechanics KH2 removed like Tech Points, Critical hits, being able to issue basic commands to your party members to attack/retreat mid battle, combos regenerating MP, status effects and so on.
They also massively nerfed your party members by not having Donald’s magic upgrade alongside Sora’s so he’s stuck with the base magic even into the endgame, which sucks because he was actually pretty useful as a party member in KH1.
That too. The “Donald is useless” meme actually makes me seethe because it’s inaccurate and exposes brainlets who don’t know how to customise their party settings. Don’t even get me started on Goofy, who can more or less break the damage cap with the proper set-up. In KH2, party members are just drive and limit dispensers, compare that to KH1, where you’re actually significantly weaker without their help.
Xemnas in KH1 isn’t that bad. All his attacks can be easily dodged, he’s weak to Gravity and Zantetsuken, and Ars Arcanum absolutely shreds him.
KH1 has weak combat, annoying forced platforming, a shit camera, and some of the worst boss fights in the entire series. I'm looking at you giant ursula.
>annoying forced platforming, a shit camera, and some of the worst boss fights in the entire series
These are the main reasons I slightly prefer 2. They both do a lot of good stuff separately but 2FM was more fun to play through.
t. Regular Pat
>BBS over DDD
I will never understand this. BBS is clunky as all frick and has the most boring world selection ever.
People like Star Wars over Pokemon.
Abilities being locked behind pokemon amie is annoying.
BBS actually has some of the best Disney worlds since KH1. Castle of Dreams and Enchanted Dominion are top-tier. The only really lame Disney world is Disney Town (which still has some nice level design for a mini-game world).
Because I like being able to get abilities without having to pet Pikachu 500 times.
Why do you follow Reddit to stay abreast of opinions you don't like?
I think the main problem with kingdom hearts is that it has no brevity. Instead of each game being it's own self contained adventure that could exist with or without a sequel, it became this lore clusterfrick that you need a 3 hour video to explain to newcomers because the story spans across several games from wildly different platforms INCLUDING mobile phone games.
There's nothing wrong with having that kind of ambition, but it's got the shounen anime problem where it becomes impenetrable and has the whole
>"NO GUYS SERIOUSLY NARUTO/ONE PIECE/HUNTER X HUNTER GETS GOOD AT EPISODE 500 WE SWEAR"
problem that permeates a lot of other long running series' that had the same issue as Kingdom Hearts. And with that much length on a series, it's eventually for nothing, because while you're keeping track of all this lore, there's bound to be retcons and asspulls somewhere, like "no guys really sora was around the whole time he was just hidden away in other people and there's totally a way to come back from being a heartless"
>there's bound to be retcons and asspulls somewhere, like "no guys really sora was around the whole time he was just hidden away
The only instance that I can think of where this happened is with 0.2 where Aqua was supposedly around during the KH1 finale.
does terra and aqua giving keyblades to sora and riku count as that? cause that plotpoint in bbs annoyed me a little
Eh idk, cause Sora and Riku taking the keyblade from eachother back in KH1 was weird to begin with. A better example would be something like Marluxia/Lauriam suddenly being a time traveler from the keyblade war era.
Only if you matured or changed as a person since you were 12. Autistic people don't have that problem and KH will still appeal to them when they're in their 60s - unless they're trans (they won't live that long)

Probably all of these for me, not to mention the fricking gap between 2 and 3 granted I did play most of the spin-offs but regulating a bunch of very important story moments or revaluations to games some people might not touch is stupid tbh.
Also 3’s plot was so stupid and nonsensical. I feel like it wouldn’t even take much to solve that issue either. Sora goes to these world it feels and it feels like he’s not even learning anything or advancing the plot. They have this “awakening” thing he has to learn but none of these worlds are helping him achieve that and the plot magically starts later in the game and then it’s over. All you’d have to do it’s have him learn something new from each place that helps him understand what he has to do.
I also think reviving all those characters was just pure fan service. Sora should be soloing pretty much everyone on the evil team.
>spin-offs
Stopped reading there.
KH has no spinoffs.
>Re mind doesn't count
Remind is part of KH3. Its like saying KH2 has no post game content because Final Mix doesn't count.
Re mind is a DLC and is its own thing. Final mix were complete reworks of the games, they are different things
You are a homosexual. There is no difference between Re Mind and Final Mixes.
Remixes have extra bits of story throughout the playthrough, new keyblades and abilities you get while playing.
DLC adds nothing storywise until the end of the game and being able to play as different characters and also mickey mouse moaning sinulator
>KH has no spin-offs
What did he mean by this?
they are not spin offs because they all are relevant to the whole story. that's my guess
generally speaking, spin-offs(like say, persona 5 strikers) work out of the canon so what happen in them doesn't matter that much because it'll hardly have anything to do with the main story except referencing it at times.
Kh spin-offs, on the other hand, follow the story or brings story points for it(wether good or bad).
Chain of memory is the real KH2, you can go in KH2 withouth it, but you'll lose quite a bit.
Kh2 is 3, Birth by sleep would be called a prologue in just any other series, DDD is KH4, then you got the online games, and then Kh3 is KH5.
Don't forget that the online game are quite important to understand what the frick is happening in KH3.
I agree with your post for the most point, but I'd argue the writing in KH (specifically 2) is so exposition and flash back heavy that if you're good at picking up on context clues it shouldn't be hard to piece together the story too much. Roxas involvement and Sora's disappearance and emergence from the pod
I conflated 1 and 2, but there's been a critical mode mods since the PC port. Still, play on proud then if it's so easy.
He means vanilla which was 33 ( still a good chunk near the next third of the game). He obviously hasn't played in a bit.
>Still, play on proud then if it's so easy
I've never not played KH1 on proud.
Does anyone ever play KH games on less than max difficulty?
When I was young I used to play the games on Beginner.
I exclusively play on either Proud or Crit now though. KH1 is still a decent challenge on Standard, but the game really shines on Proud.
>KH1 is still a decent challenge on Standard
No it isn't. You can mash X for victory.
On Proud at least you have to stop mashing X occasionally to guard or heal.
>persona 5 strikers
P5S is a direct sequel to 5
A direct sequel that ignores and conflicts with the definitive canon of Royal. You can’t take it so seriously
>KH has no spinoffs.
Chain of memories
358/2 days
Birth by sleep

DDD

None of those are spinoffs.
All are important to the main plot of the game.

Birth by sleep
>literally a prologue
2.8
I'd say it's the only one that i'd count as.
Sure, there's some stuff in it, but it really is just a tech demo
DDD
>actually KH4

i haven't played it, but from what i know, it might fit the bill.
>Re-mind doesn't count
>Thread of replies
Excuse the other non-explaining homosexual, but re-mind doesn't count, Nomura stated in an interview that FF characters were used in the dlc because of fan demand, people complained that there were no FF chars so much that they had to bring them back, that's the only reason they're there
>There were no FF characters in 3
There weren't unless you count cloud and aurin's statues at the beginning or flashbacks that ridiculously clashes with the game's artstyle
I was really excited for the mobile (as in all mobile platforms) versions of Kingdom but of course i didnt have a psp or a DS or 3DS or the money as a kid to buy all the different consoles and Games to go along with them or to buy JUST the console for 1 Game -
so the story became so fractured to me that by the time i actually got to play KH3 ABSOLUTELY Zero Made sense to me -
Nevermind the actual Game KH3 was fricking terrible and
this guys Reddit Polling probably consists of a newer generation too young to have the attention span to play the 1st game - (in all honesty how many times did you get lost in KH1 dont fricking lie to me)
But the Story only got more and more confusing the more i played KH3 -- I just remember that old ass secret cutscene in 2 of the mysterious knight picking up a keyblade of their own and even more secret was FIGHTING Them SO Cool Were not alone ! and they hate us apparently !! -
Now fricking everyone has a keyblade if they so much say bless you to someone sneezing "YOUR HEART PURE HAVE A WEAPON"
i dont get it anymore - KH3 was the biggest Disappointment ever after waiting for it (after 2 was announced to be 11 years ended up being what like 16 years later ? too lazy to look it up)
>in all honesty how many times did you get lost in KH1 dont fricking lie to me
0. The game isn't hard Black person.
i always got lost in Tarzan and the initial Town Square trying to find donald and goofy -
Everytime took an hour trying to get through those places - no issues elsewhere
Did you play it first as a kid or an adult?
as a kid - i spent countless hours on the peterpan world and NMBC worlds
KH1 has exactly 2 somewhat cryptic moments:
>In Deep Jungle, it’s not made clear that you have to kill Heartless in all areas to save the gorillas
>In Atlantica, it’s not made clear that you have to ride the Dolphin twice, despite Flounder telling you that it can ride against the current
Apart from that, you can easily progress the story through exploration and common sense. NPCs also give you hints on where to go on several occasions.
Hell, the fact that some people get lost in Atlantica despite the fact that the way to the Palace is clearly signposted is baffling to me. How moronic are gamers that they can’t find their way around in a literal children’s game?
Not to nitpick but KH was literally designed for ~14 year olds.
I mean I consider 14 year olds children but a lot of people don't.
>Not to nitpick but KH was literally designed for ~14 year olds.
>I mean I consider 14 year olds children but a lot of people don't.
So youre saying that a game thats 20 years old is made for 14 year olds - Packed with lore and details from over 20 years ago - across several platforms and games - is for 14 year olds - that 14 year olds will understand
Ok then
Yes. KH1 and every game since is written with 14 year olds in mind.
All of them have kanji (with no furigana) that are known to mid teenagers.
KH was not a game for 5 year olds.
let me put it like this instead -
You are expecting 14 Year Olds to have the Money and time to Learn as much lore and story and details and mechanics for a 20 year old game series they have Zero Involvement in
See
>There's nothing wrong with having that kind of ambition, but it's got the shounen anime problem where it becomes impenetrable and has the whole
>"NO GUYS SERIOUSLY NARUTO/ONE PIECE/HUNTER X HUNTER GETS GOOD AT EPISODE 500 WE SWEAR"
problem that permeates a lot of other long running series' that had the same issue as Kingdom Hearts.
>You are expecting 14 Year Olds to have the Money and time
Well apparently they do since KH is big in Japan.
KH is big everywhere - it topped sales charts almost immediately Everywhere
how many people dropped it immediately after is the question - i personally beat the came in 20 hours and havent been able to pick it up since - reminding myself to never preorder again - Till Dying light 2 - and then once more reminding myself to never preorder
>not playing Re:Mind
It's like you don't like fun
>It's like you don't like fun
Yea where the hell was this gameplay throughout the entirety of KH3 ?
i had more Cutscenes than actual gameplay in every fight especially if i was with a 3ed character
Seriously frick off Rapunzel and baymax
The same place KH1 gameplay was if you watch the fight against Sephiroth.
Yea Sephiroth included in a majority of titles but paid DLC in the last
Just like every other game.
Reminder that Final Mix was basically just a paid DLC.
All of the Final Mixes have included extra bosses.
KH2FM included the organization fights just like remind. Not to mention the entire Cavern of Remembrance.
KH3 also did ship with an optional boss but quite frankly compared to previous hidden bosses like Lingering Will he's a massive push over and no where near as good as the series's best boss battles.
Lingering Will wasn't in base KH2.
>Lingering Will wasn't in base KH2.
You're right but when I think back to great bosses I immediately think of him. I'm not gonna go back and think of other FM bosses like fricking Mysterious Figure KH1 - what a shit show that fight is. Literally just fighting a KH2 boss but as KH1 Sora.
>I immediately think of him.
Lingering Will is not that great of a boss. In fact he's extremely easy.
The music in the series has been extremely inconsistent since KH2, but jesus christ that boss music is terrible.
>even the music isn't from nostlagiagays
Jesus Christ.
safe*
Remind has a bunch of super bosses including a secret one which is essentially not-Noctis and if you win you see a secret cutscene which is a remake of the FFXIII Versus car ride trailer
They are the best boss fights in the series for sure. Remind also gave Sora a bunch of new snappier moves designed to make him feel more like he does in KH2. He's still a bit floaty and doesn't snap the ground as well, but it's a massive improvement over base KH3. Plus you get to dual wield again which is always cool.
KH 1 is certainly the most kid friendly game in the series overall due to the lack of sequel baggage and the comparatively straightforward plot. Gameplay wise, I’ll concede that 2 on Standard is probably the most child friendly entry, since KH1 is a much more difficult game overall, but even so, there’s nothing in KH1 a child COULDN’T do with a bit of practice. If anything, the fact that some teens and adults still get lost in KH1 despite this only further proves my point. Atlantica is probably the most complex and big world level design wise and even it has signage, multiple shortcuts and NPCs telling you what to do. I’ve also heard of some people getting lost in Traverse Town, which is strange to me because Cid tells you to come and see him if you’re stuck— Assuming you’ve killed 5 Heartless before doing this (which, let’s be real, 99% of players will have met those requirements), this is enough to trigger the Squall/Leon cutscene.
It could take that long assuming that you’re not rushing and doing all the side content along the way.
These days I usually end up in HB at around 24-25 hours because I want to do everything I can possibly do before finishing HB (since beating Riku-Ansem buffs the enemies and bosses in all worlds). The most optimal way to play the game is to have beaten every world, done every Cup except the Hades Cup, and found the majority of the puppies by the time you reach Maleficent. Then you want to beat every superboss and do all remaining side content before doing End of The World.
They literally made this for people like you Black person
It's literally your fault
Why would you skip this?
how many discs are in there?
2 probably? I'm not sure.
It has
>KH1FM
>Chain of Memories:RE
>KH2FM
>Days (but as a video summary. they remade a lot of the important cutscenes in the KH2 engine and the rest is just given through text)
>re:coded (same as days)
>and then everything else is playable except for the movie they made of KH unchained
If you've never played the series it's probably the best way to go. It's a shame Days and Re:coded didn't get KH2 engine ports but it is what it is. You also should go watch all of the KH insider uploads of the mobile game up until the ones that were released after KH3 came out. Nomura has basically been squirrelling away all the important lore and set ups for KH4 in there.
Black person only two of them are cutscenes and the rest are playable. They didn't just make a port for the DS games because they were made for two screens. It's a shame Days didn't get a remake but Re:Coded is literal dogshit anyway and you can just skip it and you won't miss a thing, except for maybe the concept of data worlds.
>you can just skip it and you won't miss a thing, except for maybe the concept of data worlds.
thats not the point of this though
the point is that we missed a huge scrap of lore and story that they put into KH3 solely because of these mobile games that were just out of our reach way back when -
Its all Skippable i promise you but you are missing out on what it all even means if you do -
its just simply not what i hyped myself up waiting for KH3 all these years since KH2 and its a huge disappointment that they expected a kid to shill out an enormous amount of money for each console and game just to listen in on their story as if they had a deal with the devil
>Its all Skippable i promise you but you are missing out on what it all even means if you do
No only Re:coded is skippable - everything else is essential. There so far hasn't been a single call back to Re:Coded in anyway shape or form. Unless it becomes a major plot point in KH4 so far it might as well not have happened.
all honesty i wouldnt know but then again i bootlegged that one where sora has a bunch of heartless (Friends) as ally's instead of donald and goofy - Didnt think that would be relevant and didnt play it a whole lot
that probably ended up being relevant though somewhere - just wont know whats relevant till its finally put into the mainline game -
the only time i was able to experience any of the mobile games was through bootleg and emulation -
>No only Re:coded is skippable - everything else is essential. There so far hasn't been a single call back to Re:Coded in anyway shape or form.
Goofy mentions Data Sora and Data Roxas while in Twilight Town in KH3. But yeah the game is completely skippable.
because the last all in 1 package i got for kingdom hearts was 1 game + Cutscenes from the other games - Fool me once -
I'm baffled they still fund more games instead of telling Nomura to wrap it up. I doubt KH3 made a lot of money given it's long dev cycle and fast depreciation of physical copies.
Unfortunately yes. Disney became far too money hungry and that leaked over into KH.
Unironically, you simply grew up.
the appeal is still there but anyone looking for something deeper in terms of gameplay should look elsewhere
osaka team can't make combat for shit
You can't call me a tran when I'lm calling YOU a tran for following KH after 2, shit is sad af.
>even Nojima was confused by Nomura's ideas in KH2 and jumped the ship
Imagine how bad it's gonna get in KH4.
No. Nomura has written almost all great stories that are impossible to predict, and one misfire with KH3 seems to has ruined his reputation with everyone which is disappointing. The KH3 DLC even makes the ending way better, and it's very possible it wasn't even his fault and Square wanted to cut some of the ending for DLC.
>it's very possible it wasn't even his fault and Square wanted to
Ah yes the endless mantra of the nomuragay
>everything good was thanks to nomura
>everything bad was because of everyone else ruining nomura's GENIUS
Is riku so achieveable natty? this homie is just 15
I looked like that at 15 by playing tennis and doing push ups every day.
Then got a bit chubby and now becoming fit again
>one misfire with KH3 seems to has ruined his reputation
>one misfire
Maybe for all the secondaries who don't play the side games or follow the mobile, but I'm having a blast.
Yes.
Compare the state of Kingdom Hearts in the mid 2000s vs now.
Not even the shadow of what it was.
Your a moron.
KH is way bigger now than it was in the mid 2000s.
>And they actually got HAPPY over the recent Sonic Origins Collection
No I'm fricking not, what? The people who are happy over that are either shills or people with no standards. I'm actually quite pissed off that they removed the sega megadrive collection versions that had steam workshop support and came with the uncompressed roms for a shittier, buggy, music missing, denuvo DRM ridden piece of shit version that stutters during fast sections because of denuvo which means it doesn't stack up to a sega genesis from 30 fricking years ago because modern gaming is just so shit they can't even resist fricking up literally rereleasing a god damn sega genesis game.
Frick you for putting words in my mouth.
DDD shit the bed in story, but I was still super hyped for 3, so I think it only lost it's appeal after 3.
3 really shit the bed in story, had inferior combat to 2, and changed the artstyle that we were used to for over a decade to something that definitely looks worse.
4 looks like the story is only going further down the drain, and once again they shift the artstyle to now chase realism.
Its just not exciting at all anymore, feels like all the magic has been sucked out.
I don’t think the whole game is gonna look like that. I don’t think Nomura is that moronic it’s gonna be just for that world.
>super hyped for 3
Found your problem. And everyone else's problem.
You all hyped the fricking game so high it could never meet your expectations no matter what.
Black person, I fricking cried during the ending. Its just that looking back on the game in hindsight and playing through it a second time, I realize how bad it really was.
SE shot themselves in the foot with the marketing too because they revealed every single spoiler in the game like 3 months before release.
>SE shot themselves in the foot with the marketing too because they revealed every single spoiler in the game like 3 months before release.
Definetely not Nomura directing KH trailers.
This. I don't think showing off the events in the trailer did much because that is where most the story was anyways.
DDD jumped the shark and all KH3 could do was try to wrap it up. They should have planned a revisit to the worlds like KH2 or at least integrated the Org.13 into the worlds stories much better. Also KH3 was missing a few good secret bosses. Why in Gods name they didnt make one of the FF toys in the Toy Story world a secret boss I have no idea. It is either Nomura and/or Disney that seems to hate FF in the series now. It is so strange to me.
And you're happy with whatever they sell you no matter how shit it is.
Or I have realistic standards. 3 is the second best game in the series after 2.
What actual problem did you have with 3? The story? Who fricking cares? We play these games for the fun gameplay, not the shit story.
>Or I have realistic standards
Which Nomura games do you think are bad? And are you willing to admit he's ever at fault?
>Which Nomura games do you think are bad?
BBS and Days. Total shit.
>What actual problem did you have with 3? The story? Who fricking cares? We play these games for the fun gameplay, not the shit story.
No one plays these for just the gameplay. You're either in it for the story or in it for the Disney worlds.
Even by gameplay standards, 3 wasn't as fun as 1, 2, or Coded. Combat in 3 is just lacking, hell even DDD was more fun.
>No one plays these for just the gameplay
Many people actually do. Not reading the rest of your post.
>read post
>can't come up with any retort so lie instead
I accept your concession. Hold this L.
The gameplay in most of these games is fun if you do not play on down syndrome difficulty.
My only issue with KH3 gameplay is that you cannot block mid combo. KH2 you could reflect, which is effectively a block. Absolutely terrible idea.
>What actual problem did you have with 3? The story? Who fricking cares? We play these games for the fun gameplay, not the shit story.
I've been following the series since I was 12. I very much cared. And the gameplay in 3 was absolute shit. DLC included.
>DLC bad
Filtered
>Filtered
Beat it on critical mode the week it came out it. It wasn't hard, it was just shit, and you're a moron who doesn't know what filtered means.
Why do you think it was bad?
Loved the first two. The third looks like garbage. I haven't played the others because they're all shitty handheld console games.
Why are morons here so obsessed with the shonen anime story over the actual gameplay?
Because you don't get automatic reply limit threads when you talk about good gameplay.
Yes, considering they delayed KH3 by FOURTEEN fricking years
You literally cannot make this up.
No, it lost its appeal when Nomura made shittier an shittier games, an completely ruined the series with 3.
No. Kingdom Hearts III being a stinker doesn't change the appeal of 1 thru 2.8
KH1 was honestly better as a stand-alone game. The writing problems began with the introduction of Org XIII. They’re not a bad idea for an antagonist on paper, but the problem is that they wound up overshadowing the Disney villains, which weakened the whole “crossover” aspect of the series.
As a self-contained game, KH1 is great, but the series deteriorated as it goes on due to more and more lore getting added.
>overshadowing the Disney villains
You mean the same Disney villains who were just pawns the entire time in KH1? Who were overshadowed in the very first game?
Ansem being the one behind everything was a late game plot twist. Maleficent was the main antagonist for like 2/3rds of the game.
People forget that back in the KH 1 days, there was no Organization, Xehanort or Master of Masters, so an OC character being the mastermind behind it all was actually a surprising plot twist.
>was a late game plot twist
No it wasn't. It was foreshadowed in the first 5 minutes of the game. When Sora is talking to Ansem in the Secret Place.
Most of the Disney villains played integral parts in the story of KH1. Everyone was shown to be consorting with Maleficent and had direct hands in both the affairs of their worlds or at least power over the Heartless. This carried over into KH2 to a lesser, but still palpable extent. Just because Ansem was the big bad in KH1 and the Organization took over the plot in KH2 doesn't mean they were completely overshadowed like they were in KH3.
What did the Disney villains in KH3 even do? Two of them were literally just their movie roles, Toy Story lacked a villain, Randall played a minimal role, Organization took over the San Fransokyo plot, they basically didn't do anything.
>Most of the Disney villains played integral parts in the story of KH1
No they don't. No one aside from Maleficent matters. No one aside from Maleficent even does anything outside their own world.
And that's why you got lost in Traverse Town. Because you were a fricking kid.
>umm sorry smelly they didn't matter for the overarching plot so they got overshadowed!
They actually did things throughout the events of the game and had those little expositional scenes inbetween worlds to show that they were all working together to get shit done by utilizing the power of the Heartless. Even self-contained in their own worlds, the fact that they were actually directly affecting the course of events throughout the game while utilizing the power of the Heartless is far more than what the disney villains did in KH3, which largely amounted to nothing since it was either the Organization trolling for no particular reason or everyone kind of just being present while the events of Tangled and Frozen happened. They just did not matter at all in KH3, even in their own worlds.
>the fact that they were actually directly affecting the course of events throughout the game while utilizing the power of the Heartless
The only villain besides Maleficent who did anything of the sort was Hook. And he was literally just a chauffeur.
In KH1, the plot was to save worlds from the heartless by closing key holes. Because of the set up, every Disney villain except Clayton was relevant to the plot. That dude just wanted to kill gorillas he summoned a Giant Iguana.
Granted it's been a damned long time since I played the first game, but
>The Queen of Hearts happily using the power of the Heartless for her admittedly idiotic quest to steal Alice's heart, for no particular reason
>Clayton using the Chameleon to hunt gorillas
>Oogie Boogie trying to steal an artificial heart so that he can gain control over the Heartless
>Hades using the power of darkness all throughout his tournaments to cheat, also taking things into his own hands after Maleficent bites the bullet with the Hades Cup to take over Olympus
>Jafar capturing Princess Jasmine, one of the seven princesses of heart integral to the plot of the first game, and also using the power of the Heartless to take over Agrabah for giggles
>Hook doing Hook things. He also got Riku to Hollow Bastion which was kinda cool
>All the while they were trying to gather the Princesses of Heart so they could unlock Kingdom Hearts and gain absolute power
All of these things sound like the Disney villains were actually integral to the events that actually occur throughout the game to me, and served as impediments to the progression of the heroes due to them rubbing elbows with eldritch forces of darkness to fulfill their stupid desires. Call me crazy but I think the overarching plot might not be the only thing that happens in the game, and isn't even the best part about most of the games.
My objective KH game ranking.

Every game that came after ruined the story in it's own unique way and KH3 is just a culmination of all that bullshit.
so you can't really rank them
Daysgays don't @ me.
Kingdom Hearts was a peak final fantasy game with comfy worlds and fun mini games. KH2 was a hallway simulator and it went down hill from there
>KH2 was a hallway simulator
Every game was a hallway simulator.
God I hate KH1gays.
Massive KHgay here. I have still not bought KH3 nor do i have any intentions to do so.
3D took the series (or BBS arguably) in this awful fanservicey route where everyone gets revived and the story is reduced to a checklist. KH3 is not an engaging experience in the slightest outside of gameplay and it makes the entire journey spanning from KH1-KH2 feel fruitless. You have a massive amount of lore established in various handheld titles that most people would never care about, and yet you have to understand it if you want various story beats in KH3 to have weight. All the Ansem/Xheanort stuff should have stayed wrapped up with KH2. Nomura is trying way too hard to make his series into an epic and is only making things convoluted to insane degrees. I dont care about the mobile title, I dont care anymore about whos in the Organization hoodie, I dont care about half the cast anymore, I just want a new storyline
Also Ventus should have never existed or at least been given a different design, and Roxas or Riku should be the new protagonist going forwards. Sora isn’t fun anymore
the first one was the only good one and really only hollow bastion
Hollow Bastion sucks
not the music
The series died after KH2.
Playing Kingdom hearts as an adult makes me feel like I'm playing a game designed for autistic children. I get embarrassed even with no one around.
It never had any. It had 1 good game, the rest being garbage and carried by the cope that "KH3 will retroactively make them kino!" then kh3 released and it was just the exact same garbage as the others.
1 and 2 FM+ were excellent. Everything after was nothing but contrived shit. They should've kept the storyline more simple instead of going down such a ridiculously convoluted route.
One thing I feel 2FM did to ruin the series was encourage Square to release incomplete games with the mindset of “the Final Mix version will fix it”. Vanilla KH3’s reception was very similar to vanilla KH2’s reception, and much like 2FM, Remind makes some people feel as though all is forgiven just because they added a few hard superbosses right at the end.
I’m just saying that vanilla KH1 was a “complete” game in of itself, and wasn’t about slogging through a mediocre mid-game to get to a good post-game. Even 1’s FM version only adds one more superboss, a few bonus abilities and a couple of extra rare Heartless, so you actually don’t miss out on a lot by just playing the vanilla version.
I really don’t think the series is going to improve unless the fanbase stops being content with the games being a case of “it gets good 20 hours in”.
Nah, Vanilla KH2 was higher rated than 3. It won GOTY at Famitsu
To add to that, the original JP release didn't have Kurt Zisa and I think Phantom or some other optional bosses in their original release (and some other minor things).I dont think they got those till Final Mix.
The biggest thing JP KH1 didn’t have was Chernabog— This is why Chernabog doesn’t get a journal entry. I’m assuming they were always intending on adding him, but ran out of time for the JP release. Another interesting thing is that you can perform an out of bounds glitch in Atlantica in the JP version made possible due to faster text scrolling speed. Interestingly enough though, going out of bounds and reaching areas before you’re supposed to in Atlantica soft-locks the game.
That explains why Chernabog is such a shit fight.
What? He was in both versions. The music in the JP version is what's different.
Yes, I'd say so. The novelty has worn off. The writing is horrid. I don't care about any of the OC characters introduced after 2. Nomura removed the FF characters even though they were a major part of why people started playing. It was a bait and switch. I don't want to play through new Disney movies. There is nothing to look forward to in this series. The lore/story is garbage.
I grew to like Re:Chained, the issue is early game needing the right card for doors and how easy bosses can be.
Aqua gave Keyblade to Kairi, not Sora.
Yes, but it's cool, because now nomura can focus big time on ff7r
I REALLY don't like Nomura downplaying the Final Fantasy aspect of it over the years. The crossover is the whole basis of the game, and while I understand that this basically boils down to Hollow Bastion having FF7-ish aesthetics and cameos from the PS1 era of Final Fantasy games throughout, there's no reason to downplay that element of it.
I also don't like how down-valued the Keyblade's become over the years as Nomura decides that it's still an impossibly powerful and rare weapon, but it's also not a Sword in the Stone myth anymore; there was an entire fricking society of Excalibur wielders, Excalibur was once common across the universe, and the only reason it's rare and only great and powerful figures like Triton and Hades have heard of it without universal cooperation (like KH1's league of villains) is because they all killed themselves an undisclosed amount of time before KH1.
I'm still gonna play them because at their worst Kingdom Hearts games are excellent ARPGs and some of the best in the business, but I don't like Nomura writing the series as he goes and often losing sight of the fact it's a Disney/FF crossover beyond the FF conventions like a-ra-ga magic and technique names, and (paradoxically) losing sight of Disney simplicity that KH1 had. KH3 was for the most part a breath of fresh air in that regard with the Pixar stories and Big Hero 6's world, then its back-loaded story reared its head.
>I REALLY don't like Nomura downplaying the Final Fantasy aspect of it over the years.
He's been pretty open about how he only used the crossover element to gain popularity, the only reason he even wanted Disney in the first place was because he didn't think any other company/brand could match Mario's popularity. I'm honestly surprised at how now that he has all of his characters established he basically said "frick this crossover shit", the fact that he felt the need to confirm on the side that Disney worlds would be in KH4 is pretty telling.
that's kinda scummy tbh. i doubt all his OC shit would be able to survive on its own without Disney and FF propping it up.
>that's kinda scummy tbh. I doubt Gohan would become popular on his own without Goku being the protagonist
morons like you is why Goku died and came back 100 times and Toriyama never allowed anyone else to shine in the story.
i can't even begin to understand what in the blue frick you're talking about.
There is nothing wrong with using an already established IP to establish a new franchise. Why is it scummy? The FF characters served their purpose in the story and still exist within KH's universe, they still make cameo appearances now and then. There is no need to keep shoehorning them into the main plot when they have nothing to offer aside from being SE mascots. They don't serve the story in any meaningful way and their characters barely resembled their original incarnations from the FF games anyway. They were always just there for appeal, just recognizable characters that will attract consumer attention. They served their purpose and the series now has its own set of original characters that have their own fans.
It's bait and switch. Lots of People bought Kh3 to see the FF characters. Then they weren't in it. They led you to believe they were a major part of the franchise, then they take them away.
There weren't any GG characters in KH for about 9 years. then they added them in remind because Nomura wanted to make fans happy.
But nooo belt and zipper man bad because he didnt give me Cloud after giving me Cloud in 25 games
KH3 was released in 2019. The last the FF characters were relevant in a major way was in 2006. Even BBS only had Zack for 5 minutes.
Nobody led anyone into believing anything. The FF characters didn't even appear in trailers and their inclusion had already been dismissed before the release of the game in interviews.
They were in 1/2, the last major console titles. Everyone was anticipating them coming back. Nomura made a miscalculation that he could remove them and the fans rightfully called bullshit.
So you admit that it wasn't the developers who misled fans, but the fanbases own headcanon.
No. It was the developers who made it a crossover, then removed it and got btfo by the fans for trying to pull that shit.
>Lots of People bought Kh3 to see the FF characters.
They need to go back to Sora being cute. He was pretty cute in pirate land, but he looks too fat on the whole.
>special needs morons spend years hyping themselves up for verum rex, AKA kingdom hearts without the disney content

Yes,
Kingdom Hearts 3 took too long to come out and everything game that isn't numbered has the weirdest titles. Also leaving essential story in multiple gachas and plays is a terrible idea
>grew up with 1, chains and 2
>thought 2 was the peak
>play through Fix now
>miss dodge roll
>miss old fire/ice
>they really want you to RC/parry
I still love the forms, limit form is great, and all the aesthetics are still great. But Kh1 had such a weight to the gameplay, Even pre High Jump, short hopping using spells, summons helping you in life or death situations. Grav/Stop/Aero having utility uses.
I miss all of that so much in 2, still love 2 but a lot of what made me love KH1 is missing.
*F:Mix (Final:Mix)
All things considered yeah I think KH1 has the best magic system overall, KH3 comes in a close second. KH2's magic sucks pretty bad in comparison and I hate that elements literally do not matter unless you're abusing the type weaknesses of Data Organization fights, and that 9 times out of 10 Reflect is the best spell to cast.
Also having powerful magic tied behind forms (which makes sense and does give Wisdom some more utility) felt underwhelming.
>I think KH1 has the best magic system overall
You are on crack sir.
here's some kingdom hearts 2 magic instead
*reflects ur shit post*
We're not talking about the individual spells.
You said the magic system. And the magic system in KH1 is absolute shit.
which one is best to you then
KH2, obviously.
They nerfed the magic and even removed spells in 2, what are you on?
Yes because the system in 1 was absolutely broken.
Between MP rage and Cure only taking 1 mp you could literally never die.
That's why people prefer Critical, Cure does what it's supposed to do in critical 2-3 hits kill you. If it's too easy for you want a challenge don't use leaf bracer and or play on Proud.
>MP rage
what's wrong with it?
There is no critical mode in 1 you moron.
MP Rage was a late game ability. Also, enemies can 2 shot you if you have low Defense or don’t have Second Chance.
>MP Rage was a late game ability
What? No it wasn't. You get it really early on.
Earliest you can get it is level 42 and that’s only if you pick the Staff. By which point, you’re already at Hollow Bastion.
>not being a staffchad
I just played through as staff and I remember getting it in the late teens.
Donald gets it at level 19 in Final and 20 in vanilla. that's the earliest MP rage.
only if I'm playing Birth By Sleep, frick that shit.
>not playing bbs on crit
Baby.
>MP Rage was a late game ability.
You equipped the sword at the start, you get it in the 30 levels with the rod or shield
It's impactful, fire does a lot of damage, but is single target, inaccurate and takes a lot of mana
Lightning is very accurate, hit a lot of enemies, but is weak
Ice has horizontal coverage and has moderate damage.
Grave has a slight delay, does a lot of damage and grounds airbourne enemies
Aero adds dps, gives you defense and can make you faster.
I hardly utilized many or any spells aside from Reflect in 2, because the game hardly asks you to use anything else (aside from Fire on Demyx clones, I can't think of a reason to use magic over summons/forms).
>KH3 comes in a close second
Kh3 really needed some utility spells.
Every spell felt kind of samey
They had a good thing with Aero as a Flowmotion/platform spell + damage projectile and then yeah just samey spells otherwise. Water serves no real use on its own.
Yeah, but flowmotion kinda sucks.
It would be cool for example if you could only reach certain places by casting Aero.
I really miss that of modern kh games secret areas or places that ypu could only reach after getting certain spells or abilities.
KH1 was a truly one of a kind game. It was a big budget game with a genuinely bizarre premise that put as much effort into experimenting with game mechanics and level design as possible while still trying to be as much of a Disney RPG as possible. KH1 had:
>Spells that interacted with the environment
>some dialogue options
>cutscenes/scenarios that changed depending on the order players did things in
>a magic system not seen again until Stranger of Paradise came out 20 years later
>lots of interactive things in the environment that either rewarded you with an item, or existed purely for its own sake
>a shit ton of build variety despite only having 3 starting “classes”
It was also lightyears ahead of its time because it was a Metroidvania style ARPG that the Soulsborne games would go on to popularise almost a decade later. You could argue that Bloodborne and Sekiro are in some ways, spiritual successors to KH1.
>You could argue that Bloodborne and Sekiro are in some ways, spiritual successors to KH1.
Absolutely high.
>Yozora has more interesting playing style and abilities
>NOOOOOOO, YOU WILL PLAY AS SORA, WIELD HIS ICONIC GAYBLADE AND BE HAPPY! t. Nomura
I hope they fire this hack.
Considering Yozora intentionally has parallels to Sora I think it'd probably be "Sora but with flashier animations" the same way Ventus was.
I don't know why he is so beholden to Sora. We should have got a new protag after KH2 when Sora's story ended.
Sora's the protagonist because he's an easy-to-get-along-with moron who also happens to remain an underdog in a franchise with lots of chosen ones or people dabbling in forbidden power. He has no formal training, Yen Sid's test for Keyblade mastery was never completed (as if it means anything anyways), he's told multiple times that he stands zero chance against Xehanort and all of his incarnations, and everybody is in total disbelief that a weapon like the Keyblade would choose him, but he's the one that gets things done and everybody is forced to take him seriously along the way.
Instead of building on KH2 they destroyed their own momentum by becoming a handheld series and outsourcing the combat mechanics to some other company. They also ruined the story by adding so many angsty Nomura OCs that the iconic IP characters were drowned out and the magical adventure feel of the original game was completely lost.
All the handheld games were fine, KH3D (if you cheat out the goddamned Drop mechanic for a lax playthrough) and re:Coded were really good.
How does Citra handle re:Coded, and do I need touch controls for it?
>Unversed and everyone else hardly take hit stun
>Terra campaign
>"GOTTA FLURRY, GOTTA FLURRY FOR CINDARELLY!"
You think I didn't try proud, this little wiener sucker was the straw back in 2009 and he's still a Black person homosexual today. I'll take the L in not gitting gud at BBS any day.
>How does Citra handle re:Coded
Well last I checked
>do I need touch controls
Not strictly, no
>being so shit you can't spam fire/thunder surge to beat bbs on crit
*Proud
No I mean crit. He's saying he can't win on crit. When its as easy as spammnig one fricking skill.
I said proud.
Yes and I called you a baby for not playing bbs on crit.
If you find PROUD too hard, then you should just quit video games.
Can live with that.
Everyone bashes on bbs, but for some reason i really liked it and its systems.
Maybe because i fricking love monopoly.
Not that anon but Command Board is one of my favorite minigames in the series. Fruitball however is literally the worst minigame in the series.
played it recently and thought it was all right, having to work to get good commands and abilities could get annoying sometimes though
and going going to the same worlds three times got kind of old
>Fruitball however is literally the worst minigame in the series.
Even though I love Disney Town the minigames are the reason I'll never 100% BBS.
The racing minigame and the rhythm minigame are perfectly fine. Its just fruitball that is terrible.
>the rhythm minigame
That’s the worst minigame in Disney Town though. Fruit Ball is at least bareable. Nothing will top KH2’s Atlantica as the absolute low point of the franchise.
the frick? Nothing wrong with a little finny fun bro
Ice Cream Beat is fine. Its just a rhythm game. Its got some good songs too.
Fruitball is atrocious.
>Nothing will top KH2’s Atlantica as the absolute low point of the franchise
Frozen world. No further comment needed.
At least Arendelle was a normal world rather than a lengthy exercise in cringe.
No Arendelle was shit minus the cool ice labyrinth Larxene dumps you in. That place was pretty cool.
LET IT GOOOOO
>one terrible cutscene is comparable to an entire world of mediocre rhythm games, zero exploration and original songs that are genuinely badly written
I’m not saying Arendelle isn’t a bad world, but for all it’s faults, it at least had some interesting parts.
KH2 Atlantica is optional iirc.
By and large it is but there's a lot of goodies tied to it you don't want to miss out on
Disney got worse and KH got more cucked by Disney so that didn't help. Everything between II and 0.2 was absolute doodoo for combat and they only partially rolled back the cancer either.
I still cheesed BBS but DDD was completely beyond my capacity for bullshit to not just turn the difficulty down. AI can literally just kill you at any time while you're attacking them if RNG wills it in the fights towards the end, stupid fricking game.
wasn't that based on some SQ decision to have games on as many consoles as possible or did someone make that up?
Could be true, Kh does have game on a frickload of consoles.
I sincerely wish KH3 was made in whatever KH2 used. Even moving Sora around feels weird compared to how snappy he was in KH1 and KH2. If it had PS2 graphics I seriously wouldn't complain and would even enjoy it. A person could recreate KH3 in KH2 style graphics and save on processing and squeeze in more content on top of it. More polygons doesn't do anything for me. Silent Hill 3 is still one of the best looking video games to this day.
Critical lingering will is impossible
Lingering Will is one of the easiest bosses in the series. All you need to do is hit him once and then you can loop him for the rest of the fight.
Yeah sure if you want to be cheap
don't complain if you can't handle the heat when it's not, in fact, impossible.
That's literally the way you are supposed to do the fight.
And that's not the cheap way.
No, Disney lost its appeal.
KH was always cringe deviant art fanfic tier shit
>Is the most broken party member in the entire KH series in your path
I envy the people who have never witnessed the joy of watching KH1 Ariel melt multiple health bars in seconds. Makes me wish I could take her to other worlds and watch her break the game
BBS WAS A FRICKING MISTAKE
>Did Kingdom Hearts lose its appeal over the years?
Disney is not nearly as relevant as it was in the 80's and 90's. Video games weren't nearly as mainstream as today either, so disney was willing to one of the largest publishers experiment with its IPs.
KH1 could not be made today.
Either tone down the Didney or merge it into the greater KH universe instead of just whatever world Sora is visiting.
I want to see my homie Prince Phillip mano-a-mano one of Nomura's OCs.
Or make a spin off more focused on Sqenix properties. I feel like a Square Enix Focused KH spin off or new series would be neat.
WHEN YOU WALK AWAY
YOU DON'T HEAR ME SAY
MY SANCTUARY
MY SANCTUARY, NOW!
Disney is a lot more rigid with the use of its IPs and Mascots now.
That hurt everything, because half the worlds themselves that you're in loses their charm specifically.
Monsters Inc, Big Hero 6, and Toy Story easily had the best worlds in KH3, but the other ones suffered a lot from Disney being too handholding with Frozen, Tangled, 100 Acres wood, and that was pretty fricking annoying.
The truth is that Disney has been an evil corporation ever since Walt died. The only reason people didn’t turn on them until recently is because millennials have childhood nostalgia for every Disney movie from the Disney Reinaissance period.
I will forever maintain that The Little Mermaid is the movie that ruined Disney and laid the ground work for them becoming the Cyberpunk Dystopian corporation they are today.
That's what happens when the next major entry to your series skips an entire console generation and most of the next, and you fill the time with interquels and prequels instead that just serve to make the plot more convoluted and unwhimsical.
I used to like this franchise but ever since they decided to make mobile game bullshit that's canon to the story in the console games, I lost most of my interest.
Frick Nomura. It was already bad enough trying to keep up with this series before his homosexual ass decided to release a collection with all the games in it.
>It was already bad enough trying to keep up with this series
It never was. Unless you were a mouthbreathing idiot.
I didn't mean it from a lore perspective, I meant that you had to go and buy several different consoles just to play the games at all.
>I meant that you had to go and buy several different consoles just to play the games at all
Or you just emulate like everyone else did.
Ah yes, because you could very easily emulate these games as they were releasing 10+ years ago.
moron.
Yes actually you could.
The 3DS emulator was dogshit for years. DDD was unplayable.
Then deal with it playing subpar or buy a 3ds for like 100 bucks.
He's talking about back then when they were coming out. Now the games are more accessible since they're on all platforms. DDD was hard to get through either way. Bad game.
>Bad game
Nah it was fine. It wasn't Days or anything. DDD was mediocre. It wasn't outstanding but it wasn't absolute shit.
no, you couldn't. the 3DS emulator was shit.
Everything about KH3 was so bad, including the music. Yoko fell off.
No, the idea is still as great as it ever was. It's Disney and Nomura's fault they can no longer handle the proper execution of it.
>kh1

>kh4
Yes
Yes. I can accept the additional layer of shit from BBS but adding all that MoM mobileshit to the mix was just moronic. KH3 should've ended the series and Xehanort being random scientist fricking with darkness is better than this cringe old frick
>me playing kh1 as a 13 year old
>love donald and goofy and have a fun time exploring disney worlds together in a simple tale of frenship and bad is evil and good is good
>everything past that is moronic for no reason

CoM ruined KH.
Less CoM and more Nomura rarely wrote more than one game ahead.
go away quentin
>Nomura removes Final Fantasy characters from KH, because "there is no room" but keeps FF7 wank on KH Twitter
fricking hypocrite
I never cared for the disney shit and the series focused more and more on it the later on it went. 1 and 2 were good, the rest were bad and only lore morons will say otherwise.
It lost it's appeal since the beginning. I was only in it for the gameplay and music, and the story and characters got worse with 2 and so on.
Yes, it was good with the first game then went downhill rather consistently, kh4 was revealed and hardly anyone gave a single shit, compare that with 3's reveal when people still had hope for this franchise
kh4 trailer looks soulless. what idiot thought a realistic look fits with kingdom hearts?
Supposedly that's only for that specific world and the rest will be more in line with KH3
1 and most of 2 have a timeless artstyle. 3 already looks like shit
Playing BBS in bed while munching on Burger King crown shaped nuggies
I have high hopes for kh4
They are no longer bothering to use custom engines meaning dev time is much much faster and reMind showed the combat team finally understands kh2 combat.
Also though i myself do not care for star wars or marvel there is one giant upside for kh4 and that is the fact that they give way waaaay more creative freedom (looking at you frozen team, frick you)
KH was a product of the 00s and fits only in the 00s. That perfect time not kids growing up from the 90s Disney Renaissance and experiencing JRPGs and Japanese culture and this was the perfect Mish mash of being at the right place at the right time.
KH is not by rights a timeless franchise it exists in a hypothetical universe where the game disappears behind the legend of 90s and early 00s Disney and Square media.
KH can't change its nature. You can't make it non cringy, you can't make its lore non convoluted. You can't make thus series "modern"
KH can never betray its own character because the character doesn't obey any single characteristics that can't be altered with the times
KH embodies the period on which it lived. You can't replicate that feeling of seeing those iconic Disney movie characters interact with the JRPG FF universe you grew up playing on the ps1 and then booting up AOL dial up to go on Gaia and discuss fan theories and spend hours theorizing about the lore.
That's why modern KH feels disingenuous. Because the rules of vidya has changed, the rules of the internet has changed. Ans also the things that consumers are willing to tolerate has changed. But man I will never forget the experience
Honestly the convoluted nature is what holds it back. If the portage and party member changes, they kept the darkness as an ambiguous evil, have heartless as the base enemy concept, and just work off the Disney franchises you use.
Aside from the SE characters, KH could have been lightning in a bottle. And Disney characters (Mickey, Donald, Goofy) have been used in timeless vignette styled stories before. It's possible to do a Kingdom Hearts in a contemporary way, even now. The issue would be-
Ignoring a majority of the previous titles and of course working with Disney. I'm not holding my breath for pic-related, but the concept of it is what I would want if Kingdom Hearts ended at 2 but the brand continued.

too caffeinated.
>kept the darkness as an ambiguous evil,
But it fricking is though? How do you get more ambiguous than this for the Darkness?
Ignore the Dark City stuff
Nononono, you misunderunderstand. Keep just the darkness, drop the Norts, drop Xemnas and even Ansem. Just have it be a vehicle for things to go wrong and just play off the villains + the heartless of the world. Boom a timeless formula.
With Xehanort, you have a big bad, an over-arching plot, expectations that will inevitably grow more and more. With each spin off, adding more questions then answers, adding even anticipation and so on. That's what I mean. With the time it took to get here, and what we've had. The majority of KH fans are well within their mid-late 20s or 30s, which is a big issue in of itself when trying to cater to old and new fans.
*even more anticipation
Xehanort is dead though so its kind of a fresh start
Was he ever alive to begin with? He fricks off after BBS and never shows up again until KH3.
>until KH3
But he returned in DDD...
I don't remember that game due to how bad it was. Everything post-kh2 was a wash.
>fresh start
>more black-coated homosexuals
You're not I KH4 what are you talking about
soon...
I can think of absolutely nothing I want less.
>gummi ship deathstar mission
>bossfight against darth vader
>lightsaber keyblade
Dont care that it will be cheesy, i want it.
>Luke becomes a keyblade wielder
>no one mentions he sounds exactly like Eraqus
>Lose appeal
But Sora and Riku are more gay than ever in 3?
They barely interact in KH3
>Disney meets Final Fantasy with an OC self insert to bridge the gap
>Every game add more OC
>Disney becomes skyboxes
>Final Fantasy disappears entirely
>Games would drop Goofy and Donald and replace with more OC if they could
Why did Sony save Square in the 2000’s?
Melody of memory ends with kairi getting aqua a tutor
I hope someone can steal nomuras script and actually give kairi the spotlight somewhat.
as a tutor*
nomura doesn't care about girls. if you're lucky nojima will write a terrible side story for you.
combat and boss fights got better... disney got worse (the movies from which to take the ingame world from) story is just moronic nonsense to be ignored
This series gave us the best fanart
I get why they don't use Max but it's always been strange to me they ignored him.
kinda but not really
i actually liked 3, but what was shown of 4 was completely unappealing
i dont want real life shit
or shit that resembles real life
i want chunni playable shonen anime
hasn't Nomura said the whole game won't look like that?
Yes but morons like to pretend otherwise.
I feel like slaying a giant monster in the middle of a city with a drill made of darkness light and a magic key is in fact chuuni and you lost you're the one who lost your inner chuuni somewhere along the way
Not to mention Yozora and his giant robots, Hades and fricking Nomura touching Star Wars
Audience and critic scores on metacritic would suggest differently anon
>remind that low
why, was it too hard
Unironically yes. Most reviewers and players only finished the story mode of ReMind and thought the DLC was overpriced. It's the Limit Cut that had the most meat in the DLC and because of its difficulty most people didn't experience it.
The sales too, prove that KH still appeals to a large amount of people.
In 2022 it was revealed that KH has sold 35 million copies worldwide. In 2018 it was 25 million. So between 2018 and 2022, the series sold 10 million copies.
Nomura also said that KH3 has sold 7 million copies, this makes it the best selling KH game in the series to date.
I'm interested to see what Disney stuff is picked for 4.
With stuff like that Simpsons short and the mobile games and the Chip and Dale movie there's been more stuff showing Disney properties interacting.
We got a shot of Endor in the last trailer and 1/3rd of an at st foot. Which might be the most tasteful use of the Star Wars property as a selling point including Episode 6 itself since the Ewoks were made to sell toys to kids when they were planned to be Wookies.
I started Kingdom Hearts in 2017 and lived every single game I ever played and never looked back. I think Kingdom Hearts 4 looks great. Not reading any of the thread have a nice day.
>There are too many original characters in my games now, I can't possibly continue implementing any of Final fantasy character anymore!!!
Wow, a total of five characters that he uses in every single KH game since the start? Amazingly full. He's too scared to kill off/get rid of old characters and create new ones. Instead we still have to have Riku, Kairi, the five different Sora clones, and every homosexual Org13 member in every single game.
The fricked up part is they inhabit their own world and do they're own things most of the time. Why can't we know what happened to Cloud and Seph? What about Vivi and Cipher, why is Setzer beating up kids?
and one that still kills me to this day, why the frick is Squall called Leon?
>why the frick is Squall called Leon?
Changed names when he felt guilty about not being able to protect his world from falling into Darkness 10 years prior
We knew this for decades I think
Leon is a better and more on-the-nose name for the character anyways
Squall was perfect because Final Fantasy 8 was partly based on the Wizard of Oz. The Sorceresses were based on the Wicked Witches and the Wicked With of the west was killed by water. Squall, son of Raine and Laguna.
Water and water and water water
But yeah that doesnt fit here also give me a Return to Oz world damn it I loved that shit imagine beating up wheelers
Something I've always liked is Leon leaning more into his own namesake for Kingdom Hearts, he didn't have the fur collar in KH1 so they gave him a longer, shaggier hairstyle to evoke the same "lion's mane" imagery. He kept his longer hair for 2 which returned the collar but got a shorter hairstyle in line with FF8 again for KH3 Remind
I love the nod to FF8 in remind when you talk to Leon and he mentions finding clues in dreams sounds familiar.

Side """characters"" that can be hardly called characters to begin with. All badly written plot devices.
The Final Fantasy characters have less character than everyone I posted. They could be replaced by generic NPCs.
Auron has more personality than 90 percent of the OCs.
That's the problem: Nomura refuses to write character with substance. So he overfills the game with a bunch of literal whos that do particularly nothing.
I disagree.
Good it's a videogame I play for the gameplay not the story.
And yet people criticizing the story bothers you
Curious
He's a character designer, not a writer. He doesn't know what character development is. He shits out new characters every time he wants to explore some other ideas that 'don't fit' with the existing cast, which hurts older characters and leaves new ones lacking any depth because they, too, will be discarded once Nomura is done with them and moves onto something else.
Which will lead to the DLC explain the penultimate battle that will take place in the sequel taking place right at the start of the Keyblade wars. But through the drawings of Namine, who is actually being watched by the master of masters, because we never actually left Castle Oblivion!
Oh shit, thanks for that. Now I can call myself a moderate Kingdom Hearts enjoyer now. I genuinely didn't know and that has been bugging me for years.
Daily reminder KHUX didnt actually show us the full war. It started when MoM was a kid.
There are like 50 OC's anon. The trios alone are like... 4 or something.
Why are these Org 13 members still hanging around? How many times have they been killed? It's so fricking dumb.
They've been killed 0 times if you're talking about the KH2 organization.
They "die" to only return to their original bodies(that somehow never wither away). No one dies in the series except for the two bad guys(Obi Qui-Gon Jinn and Xehanort).
Good thing you aren't playing the games for the gameplay since they've been trash mechanically post-kh2.
>They "die" to only return to their original bodies(that somehow never wither away).
They ARE their original bodies. Their heartless (heart) comes back and recompletes them returning them to normal.
I don't think bodies rot while your heart is out though since Ventue and Kairi were OK.
Petting Dream Eaters is good gameplay
What kind of sick fricker wouldnt pet a cat
I'll admit, spamming gay-ass balloons and breaking the game was sorta amusing.
People acting like they wouldn't lose their shit if KH3 focused on Leon and the gang instead of saving Terra and Ven lmao.
>who cares about the OC's bro I want the FF characters!!!!!!
Yeah nah, everyone would have gone in shitposting frenzy had KH3 focused on the FF characters instead of tying up the plots from the handheld games.
I don't give a flying frick about that moron Terra and the waste of space that is Ven. Both of these characers should never have been introduced. I would rather play a game aboout Sora teaming up with the Radiant Garden crew.
thank god majority of the fanbase doesn't agree with you
actually they do which is why Nomura had to run and bring back the FF characters for that DLC.
Actually they don't. People want FF character cameos, they don't want them to replace the OC's nor do they care more about the RG crew compared to say Roxas and Aqua.
People want FF characters and they want FF worlds.
Square Enix said you want more Frozen and Disney agreed. It means you'll get more Frozen shitcake.
*disney demanded they shill frozen
Nomura picked Frozen before it came out in Japan and made a frickasston of money.
But then Disney or the Frozen team ruined his story. Larxene was Elsa's Palpatine and turned her to darkness where she turned into the heartless Skoll after making an evil ice castle.
Frozen was the first game picked for KH3?
It was for sure the Frozen team. You can tell the worlds where the team wiether didn't care (PotC) or actively helped (Pixar) were the best, where as the Frozen creators were obviously really full of themselves for making such a popular movie. You can tell by how Frozen 2 tried so hard to seem important.
Never forget the pre-rendered cutscene specifically for Let It Go that's shot-for-shot from the Disney movie. It is the only pre-rendered cutscene that isn't related to KH's overarching plot in the game.
Why are we pretending that we're making "educated guesses" about Frozen when interviews exist?
We know the entire story of how things went down.
Disney literally begged Nomura back in 2013 to include Frozen in KH3 because they weren't aware that the game was going to release a decade later. They even showed him a half finished version of the movie to convince him. He agreed and wrote a story for it.
Years went by, Frozen was incredibly successful and became Disney's golden goose, so the story Nomura had written was unacceptable for them because it portrayed the characters in ways Disney didn't like (Like Elsa falling to darkness). We also know by interviews that they were very annoying to work with and were very particular even about the fricking eyebrows on the character models of the characters. Meanwhile IPs like Big hero were very open about what the devs will do with their characters and gave them almost complete freedom.
This isn't some well kept secret. Frozen's creators were dickheads and it's all in interviews.
>Meanwhile IPs like Big hero were very open about what the devs will do with their characters and gave them almost complete freedom.
I loved them bringing over the first Baymax as a Dark Knight and then adding it to the team when the story was done, first time in a very long time Kingdom Hearts has had any bearing on any of the Disney movies' stories or even changed them outright.
>They even showed him a half finished version of the movie to convince him
Usually when we think about making a game, we choose from works already available to the public. However for Frozen, when we were selecting the worlds, Disney showed us the preview before it was finished, and we liked it enough to continue the discussion to include it in the game. We decided on the inclusion before the movie was premiered
>it's true
KEK
Imagine how hard Disney wanted to push Frozen that they forced a franchise that usually uses Disney IPs to promote itself, to do the opposite and use an unreleased at the time IP to promote it through the game.
They don't have to demand anything. It's their series and Nomura is only allowed to play with the toys they give him.
I wonder how many people who want that have never played a Final Fantasy game. I swear they're worse than Persona 5 fans and Earthbound fans for this shit.
Hell we have 2 crossover FF series. World and Dissidia.
3 took to long to come out
The worst part of KH4 reveal is that Nomura means for the MoM arc to drag on for years baiting more and more of Verum Rex for people to get eventually fed up and start begging him to go and make it. He decided to play the long game. Like, he waited 13 years to remake Versus XIII trailers in KH3 and he can wait another 10 years or so for S-E and Disney to fold and reboot his game.
I am OK with no FF in 3 because Yozora is so painfully obviously Nomura'a original vision of Noctis but KHified like all FF KH cameos before him. Just with a different name...that means the same. Same for NotStella.
I literally do not care how stupid this series is. The versus XIII shit got me, the shit about the master getting darkness to possess people so it can be killed is cool, these stupid video games have their claws in me and I just can't wait to see how much more ridiculous they get
Only 1 and GBA CoM were any good. 1 for being the all around experience that it is, and CoM for its great battle system and interesting plot even though we lost some of the Disney magic as NPCs weren’t really featured.
2 came off the rails, ruining the interesting story CoM had started and ruining the gameplay with superfluous transformations and the fricking triangle reaction moves (press triangle to awesome XD). All the remaining Org members were fricking annoying and every story cutscene was pure cringe. The levels were stripped of the platforming and exploration. Everything sucked except the gummi ship overhaul which actually ruled. From there the plot went batshit and Disney chars got sidelined each game for more homosexual OCs and FF characters. Series is lame as hell now
I am like this dude
But I hate how KH2 fans got the triangle reactions back for KH4. I thought we were past that in videogames. I hate 2s empty hallways too.
Who even likes QTEs? I don’t want to break my flow by having to wait for a reaction command to appear when the gameplay system that is already there is plenty varied for me to be excited.
Kingdom Hearts 2 fans and speed runners of it and shit.
I'm not...not even trolling they seriously love reaction commands so hard Nomura brought them back.
they were soulful and fun.
>reaction command to block
The previous game just had you press the attack button at the right time to do the same thing. This is moronic
you still could block and dodge roll it.
>KH4 will have Disney despite hyping up the unreality and Verum Rex
>place is literally called fricking Quadratum but there are no FF characters who can jump dimensions and Yozora
It's so trash. Why would anyone still have expectations for this garbage series?
>add wall running to KH3
>get to twilight town
>"Oh man, I'm going to run up the clock tower and then glide around the city! So cool!"
>can't even get over there
KH3 was wasted potential
*narrates KH4 trailer*
How thoughtful of Nomura to sideline Yozora, Magia, Aegis and notStella for some last minute KHUX OC introduced in the final chapter.
>he doesnt know
know what?
Bros, it's like, WE'RE Sora, and WE'RE the ones losing our connections to kiddy stuff as we grow up, much like Sora loses his connection to Winnie the Pooh
Can we have a small side game where we play as heartless and kill into humans?
Mod/rig the attack animations and ad damage somehow. Maybe a mod for KH2 where you can use Drives/MP for Heartless forms.
Maybe that idea could lend itself to the Re:Chain ports
This or Three Wishes in terms of looks? 3W is my baby and carried me through Colosseum and Ice Hades.
I'm a bit more partial to Wishing Lamp, its design is evocative of Genie coming out of the lamp. Three Wishes seems a bit like they didn't quite know what to do for an Aladdin keyblade besides making it the color of the lamp.
Wishing Lamp looks better.
KH3 just feels weirdly soulless. It feels like a game designed to be a checklist of events that are expected to happen rather than its own story.
>KH1 starts with Sora on Destiny Islands to get you emotionally invested in his search for his friends
>KH2 starts with Roxas in Twilight Town losing his fake life, which leads into the whole debate about whether people who aren't "real" deserve to be treated as people, which continues to Coded
>KH3 starts with Sora being told that he needs to get the plot magic to save the day, then it takes him 7 hours to find out the plot magic was inside him all along
Look what they did to my edgy baby.
AW SHUCKS WE SHOULDA GOTTEN STRONGER KEYBLADES BEFORE WE LEFT made me see red and I'm not quite sure why.
Because
>Soul Eater is weak
>They knew they had to return to the darkness and had prior knowledge of it
>Keyblades apparently break and aren't just manifested
>Different keyblades aren't really a form, but are tangible in some way
again, more questions than answers with this shit.
On top of that Way to the Dawn is supposed to be a culmination of Riku's character and his "twilight" choice to use darkness in the name of good, and then they shit on it for making him more like Terra when Riku's always been more of a finesse fighter than a brawn fighter (that's Sora's thing)
>everyone could power up their Keyblades this whole time
>this has literally never been mentioned before
>Mickey didn't use the downtime during Coded and DDD to power his up despite knowing he'd need to save Aqua
On the other hand this marks Mickey as a thoughtless ass who can cast Stopza but didn't foresee the need to get better Keyblades
Why is Mickey so lame after KH2 anyway? He always seemed powerful beforehand, but now he just eats shit constantly. It wasn't until Re:Mind that he actually got to look good in KH3.
It's necessary for the hero's journey, the super powerful mentor either needs to die (but disney obviously won't allow mickey to die) or they need to be a jobber so that the hero can take center stage.
It's just the shitty writers writing themselves into a corner over and over.
Can't let him overshadow Sora, the player character, but at the same time it's basically a mandate that he's a very powerful figure. I also think there's a healthy dose of "we don't know what to do with him." Mickey is supposed to be a counterpart of Sora in his own way (Sora is, after all, a Mickey stand-in right down to his design) but besides closing the other side of the door in KH1 and tooling around with Ansem in KH2 he's had basically no plot relevance.
People hated KH2 at launch so I pretended to hate it too. Speedrunners loving KH2FM made everyone suddenly love KH2 so I pretend I always liked KH2 too. I am insecure and can only parrot the most loud opinions. People hated the QTE's in KH2 because hating QTE's in general back then was the in thing to do, now that they haven't be used regularly in games for years people like them. So i too, will pretend that I am happy that they're back in KH4.
I take all my opinions from Donkey and my understanding of the story comes from Just a Pancake videos.
With all that said let me proceed to contribute to this KH thread like the rest of my fellow KH fans.
Kingdom farts lmao kh is so cringe only kh1 is good unless the thread is full of kh2gays then only kh2 is good. Did I mention how KH3 is the worst game in the series, even worse than Re:Coded which by the way had amazing combat and definitely wasn't a clunky piece of shit with terrible controls. Also Nomura killed my family, I hope he dies and KH will be directed by Neil Druckmann.
These 'people' sound like homosexuals and you're no different tbqh.
>Also Nomura killed my family
This, but unironically.
This and also
>Thing KH3 did well
Actually Tai Yasue directed KH3, Nomura was in Tokyo working on 7R and he is only directing KH in name alone.
>Thing KH3 did badly
Nomura is responsible for everything, even dialogues and character models, he needs someone to put him on a leash, he has too much power and does whatever he wants with everything. I hope they fire him and put Tai Yasue in charge.
Reminder that KH2 was loved at launch and won a GOTY award.
NOOO, PEOPLE HATED IT!
nice sample-size dipshit
Zoomer cope. You can still find countless threads from old forums calling KH2 shit and praising KH1. KH3 won awards too and sold well, doesn't mean shit.
Kingdom Hearts is a fricking zoomer gay, daddio.
> You can still find countless threads from old forums calling KH2 shit
Why would I care what someone on Gaia online in 2006? Hell KH2 v 1 threads have been happening on here since forever, and I doubt you'll dig through archives for shitposts back then vs. now.
"Shitpost" wasn't even a term when KH2 was new, that would have been back in the HACKERS ON STEROIDS /b/ days when tripgays roamed the earth and emoticons were still widely used even on Ganker
^_^
fine, I'm sure people had 'flamewars' and 'trolled' about Kingdom Hearts 2 and claimed that Kingdom Hearts 1 was 'epic' because of change.
t('-'t )
⋃
Honestly I bet not, there would have been lots of nerd rage in that era of Ganker but there wasn't quite the pathological need to be a humungous homosexual that there is now from 2012 on. This would have predated most or even all of our console-war filters like nintenbaby.
Rage-faces are not that far away, trolling scientology gatherings, early chris chan lolcows, Retsupurae (SomethingAwful as a whole). Not everyone was a troll and not everyone as an 'XD' spouting saint, I still believe it's the middle ground.
Yes 2012 cemented the decline with the '2edgey4u' parrots and when 9gag, funnyjunk and the like grew.
But predate console wars? Console wars have started since the market began, they never not happened.
t. Eternal newbie ala 2007
>But predate console wars?
Not predating console wars, predating Ganker's filtered words specifically for console wars. We've got lots of filters built into the site (most of them being for CP courtesy of /b/ spammers over the years) but almost all current posters find them by accident since there's no readily available list of them, and Ganker's current MO is to pretty much forget the "previous generation of the site" existed in favor of another 5-6 year cycle of repetitive posting.
Console wars are eternal, I usually pass around those Usenet posts crying about how Nintendo was through, Saturn was a misunderstood classic system, and Dreamcast would take the world by storm.
I feel like I've been arguing circles with myself with you anon, I pretty much agree with everything posted and I guess I just need air. Have a good one.
But frick the current everything.
>won awards
didn't win any GOTY award
Won Best RPG of the year.
That's not GOTY and KH3 had little competition in that category.
40,000 people voted KH2 GOTY
I HATE IT, HATE HATE HATE!
Kh2 was so liked that Nomura won creator of the year for releasing it.
And with KH3 he's just the laughing stock of the industry.
KH1 is a timeless masterpiece that you can replay today and still have a ton of fun with.
Unfortunately it was supposed to be a one-off, and that really shows in the sequels. 2 and 3 feel completely soulless and are nearly incoherent. 2 was literally just 1 over again, and it's even self aware with characters going "uhh what are we doing here i don't know let's fight some heartless i guess".
The gameplay also suffers, every enemy has obnoxious invincibility frames that tediously stretches out mob fights for no good reason, or they're zooming around out of reach constantly. Really obnoxious. You have to make up your mind whether mob fights are mindless and easy, or whether they're serious fights, you can't take this lazy middle ground where they're extremely easy but artificially stretched out because the fricking shadow keeps going into the ground and you have to wait for it to pop back up.
Anyway yea, 3 is utter dogshit through and through and the side games are borderline unplayable unless you're an actual child. But 1 will always be an amazing work of art.
My favorite series but sadly the buildup to 3 was more entertaining the execution. It needed a LOT more exposition and interactions for a storyline you've been building up for nearly 2 decades.
No Square Enix just refuses to put it on platforms people actually use
the appeal shifted for me
as a kid i loved KH1 for the sense of adventure, not knowing which Disney worlds i would reach next. if i would find Sora's friends. aswell as being fun to play.
in 2 i really liked the combat and i thought the story while losing that mysterious adventure feeling, became shounen kino which appealed to me aswell.
in 3 the story did nothing for me and there was no feeling of adventure either. but the gameplay was still fun especially the DLC bosses.
So for 4 i'm mostly looking forward to playing a fun game while not having high hopes for the story
dude the bad guy was actually a misunderstood good guy all along really he's going to realize he was wrong and apologize
>what about all the cruel murder, torture, and genocide?
uhhhhh look he said sorry ok
i fricking hate these writers like you wouldn't believe
Xemnas was the best villain
Nah, Ansem was.
Correct.
Ansem had nothing to do the whole series aside from go "Dude, Riku, give me your body. It'll be different this time, I swear."
He’s still a chad though imo. Dude went 4 rounds with sora, Donald and goofy and was still undamaged. Dude ended up only loosing because of a he said she said situation. Total chad
>dude my [headcanon] totally happened and I am totally not a brainlet who didn't understand the ending
>fricking hate the writers like you wouldn't believe
He wasn't forgiven at all, he was beaten at the height of his power and surrendered, then died on his own terms to go swordfight penises with Master Eraqus forever. The ending's a cop-out but let's not split hairs here.
>Chain of Memories shows that darkness is not an inherently evil force to the point that Riku being able to use it is a good thing
>rest of the series (and fricking Xehanort himself) go full "darkness is... LE BAD" despite that
Don't forget the biggest one
>"Me use kingdom hearts for darks!"
>"But it light!"
>"AIIIIIIIIIIIE"
until it doesn't work anymore because we need the boss fight, WE JUST GOTTA!
I don't even know what Kingdom Hearts is supposed to do. It's just a different thing every time and Nomura is like "Nah, that previous thing wasn't actually Kingdom Hearts even though everyone called it that."
Can't wait until it turns out this wasn't Kingdom Hearts either and the only way to summon it is with the magic box of KH4 spoilers.
So, it is light, but is fueled/stores good(?) hearts, which is why Xemnas wants you to defeat heartless, even.. though they are heartless..-
and that makes Kingdom Hearts shine brighter which = darker shadow? I guess?!
It hurts to try to rationalize doesn't it, imagine me when I was 12 when I played through 2. It was like trying to rationalize the Book of Mormon.
Wasn't the duo sent to send the keyblade master to Mickey to go inside and help him? Wait why didn't they both just run out?
>"I have to, the king needs me, oh also you're a pretty swell guy bye" 🙂
sure..
Lmao that ending is such a clusterfrick it hurts to think about
>beat the boss 5 times over
>he still somehow wins
>kingdom hearts is...a door?
>oh but it kills the bad guy when it opens...for some reason
>uh but actually that's the door to darkness?
>why did it nuke the bad guy then?
>oh we gotta close it and for some reason riku has to stand on the other side of the door instead of walking 5 feet to rejoin sora
>AND NOW EVERYTHING IS DISSOLVING FOR NO REASON
>SIMPLE AND CLEAN IS THE WAY THAT YOU'RE MAKING ME FEEEEEL TONIGHT
I loved KH as a kid, i went as Sora for halloween, made my own keyblade out of pvc and paint/cardboard, and I remember being hype as frick when I pre-ordered KH2 for my 8th Birthday. Played it nonstop and beat it week of release, went back to gamestop to talk to the employees who for some reason were cool with little me hanging out there, they told me it was rumored KH3 would release in 2008. I was 22 when Kh3 came out. Every subsequent release between then was either on a console I did not own or in stupid shit like the phone game. They're finally on one platform now, but its way too late. They opted for easily the most moronic fricking release schedule in the history of games. I'll be fricking 26 most likely by the time KH4 is out and that still wont be the end of the story, its taken literally 95% of my life for these motherfrickers to tell their story and they can't even do it coherently in that time.
Lost its touch after KH2, after you needed a psp and a phone to keep up with the story
KH3 is shite
>entire series story is an evil mastermind wants to create something called "kingdom hearts"
>not a single one of the 20 games ever explain what the frick kingdom hearts even is or why it would be evil to create it
Wanting the power to change the world is evil... because it just is, okay?
No the insane amount of torture, murder, genocide, and slavery are evil, though.
Then why didn't Sora use the X-blade given to him by XehaBlack person to erase darkness?
ying yang dont work like that
Ying ying can work out just fine.
it's blinding and fake.
>torture, murder, genocide, and slavery
When did he do any of this
Not that Anon, but at the very least he killed Eraqus, tried to kill Aqua, and performed inhumane experiments on people in Radiant Garden before his Heartless and Nobody both tried to destroy the universe.
Well I guess since hitler didn't personally go around murdering his victims he's free from blame.
>nting the power to change the world is evil... because it just is, okay?
He didn't want the power to simply "change the world" moron. He was gonna erase all life.
Does anyone even actually die in the universe, because it seemed like they were saying that everyone gets reincarnated through kingdom hearts.
People were always implied to have died before DDD came along and just made it impossible to kill people 90% of the time.
Somewhat. Should go back to the roots of KH1
Always hated this homosexualshit israelite mouse franchise. Never got why people like it so much. Same with homosexualFantasy.
Most of the fanbase were yaoigays and I say that as a fan of the series. Also when the true sequel takes 14 years to come out you kind of get over it unless you're a manchild.
