DD2 isn't even open-world. It's just lame ass corridors. May well be less playable space than the first. Enjoy starring at rock walls for 70 hours with no meaningful agency as where to go.
DD1 is genuinely 10x better realized with its story and characters.
i cant remember a single personality or character that stuck out in DD2 as theyre all painfully generic, especially the villains who you barely even interact with.
if we count DD:DA, then DD1 is also better realized in the gameplay department too
Are you fricking serious? I love DD1 but definitely not for it's story or characters. It had a really generic story and bland characters in the first place. If it weren't for it's pawn system and the vocations/combat then it wouldn't have been a cult classic.
This game is unironically much funner than Elden Ring
Elden Ring doesn't benefit at all from being open world and would be much better if it were just the best areas
Dragon's Dogma 2 feels like a genuine adventure
I think DD2 is much better than DD1. You'd know if you could even run it.
Im just speaking generally on shit optimization, i could more than run it but i refunded it after 3 hours because ive already played this game 10 years ago and realized they didnt add enough to make me want to play it more. You dont have to make this some culture war thing, the game clearly failed to deliver. If you want better sequels you shouldnt champion this thing as a successful sequel.
"i-i-i must defend my crapcom overlords"
do you get to smell their tiny asian dicks as a reward or you're a self proclaimed crapcom knight and you do it for free?
making more than 2 worthwhile dungeons in an action rpg isn't a high bar, itsuno just can't design a game to save his life, just stick to making combat systems and let someone else competent to direct the rest of the game
>liking the beginning parts of the game and quests >get to battahl >game swirls the toilet >get to the Dragon and fight him, decent fight I guess >get peace achievement then restart to get to the post game >post game is awesome, special bosses, seeing on the NPC's go to the same spot >reactivate talos, do the sidequests, kill the special bosses
Game definitely ended on a high note, too bad there no final dungeon like Everfall or something. Thats what it would really need. Also it definitely needed more quests surrounding the false Arisen and Disa's plan, finish them off first THEN go to battahl to deal with Phaesus
>Also it definitely needed more quests surrounding the false Arisen and Disa's plan, finish them off first THEN go to battahl to deal with Phaesus
Naw. It just needed more shit to make sense. Brant sent you to Battahl to figure out just what the frick Phaesus and Disa were doing together to use that as leverage and oust her and the fake, as well as figuring out how to nullify the effects of the godsway to prove that the dude sitting on the throne is a fake. But once you get to Battahl they just kinda forget that you should be exposing Disa.
I assume there was more to do with the furry princess originally that got cut or never got finished, because there was only a limp dicked assassination plotline that I think I got locked out of anyway before the conclusion by unlocking the funny stone man. You can tell they got the wrap it up notice near the end for sure.
You failed to stop the fake arisen at the coronation. There is no plan to stop it at that point disa already won, hence why sven is the leader of vermund in the postgame.
It's not that Disa already won, because her goal is uncontested rule of the kingdom, which the arisen could disprove at any time with their command of pawns if it weren't for the godsway.
Brant wanted to publicly expose Disa's fraud and the coronation was the best way to do it because of all the people and pawns that would be in attendance. The reason you're in Battahl in the first place is to figure out how the fake can control pawns and if there's a way to counter it.
>roll around until you can hit boss : the game >high bar for action RPGs
Fromslopware is shit. Lemme know when an action RPG comes out where you can grapple a boss monster and break it's arm like Beowulf did to that b***hass Grendel. Or ground pound em. Hell, I'd even settle for being able to knock a boss off-balance by throwing your weight at them.
>roll around until you can hit boss : the game
The sheer ignorance in this copypasta boggles the mind. Souls games have great exploration, level design, art direction, lore and amazing character build variety. That's the main appeal. Besides, souls games aren't even that hard compared to other games, they just don't let you lower the difficulty with the press of a button. And they still let you summon other players to beat the boss for you.
Art direction is subjective, but in terms of ARPG, i'm gonna need you to define ARPG because Deus Ex fits that genre and mogs Soulsshit in level design
>multiple ways to enter any situation, Gig >can use pure speech to enter, stealth (that's fleshed out beyond "crouch"), full blown combat that unironically is more fleshed out than Elden Ring too
Cyberpunk 2077 is hilariously, and I thought the game was mid btw, a better Elden Ring, just first person
people go into DD2 thginking its the next Monster Hunter / Souls game but its just a casual Lord of the Rings adventure game, and always was, even the original was inspired by fricking elder scrolls games
Bruh... you're comparing a static, mostly empty world with no interaction and memory pattern enemies to DD2 which runs it's world with Ai to the point that most people's computers shit themselves.
DD2 was disappointing in a lot of areas but it's still infinitely better than any Souls game or Elden Ring. Miyazaki didn't raise the bar at all. The only thing any Souls games did well was some atmospheric interconnected levels. The combat, movement, story, characters, quests and actual RPG mechanics are all subpar.
Guys...
What if DD1s cut content wasnt Capcoms fault and actually Itsuno is just not a good director?
Like, maybe he can handle smaller, combat focused games with simpler stories (devil may cry), but an open world high fantasy is beyond his skills.
So this game only has 3 “new” vocations. Magic spear hand is an over glorified hacked version of mk. Trickster is dogshit, the last new vocation just lets you use shit from the other vocations. Dont know why these homosexuals removed the previous classes even though they are superior to the new slop vocations. Why does only one class use shields? Why are most of the dmg augments dogshit? 90% of the enemies you will fight will be goblins, wolfs, harpies, bandits/skeletons. Not to mention that this game soundtrack is none existent. I played over 100 hours and cant remember 1 song from bosses, regions, battles etc. Dd1 story is far superior than dd2. The only thing dd2 has is sexy cat pawns
>Guys, seriously. Just upgrade your PCs
Check my image, moron. I did everything in the game and spent over 100 hours in it. I've been playing at 1440p max settings.

You know what would actually set a high bar for action RPGs? Not that. Have actual action mechanics for boss fights. Shit like if they throw a weapon at you (like Godfrey with his axe) you can show him how moronic a move that is by throwing it right back at him. Have samsho's weapon clashes. Have shit that actually cripples a boss if you damage a specific part of them, like how bushido blade fricks your arm/leg if they get cut.
The fact that you think basic b***h ass counter attacks or poise breaks is some pinnacle of action just shows how moronic you are.
I have no clue either, enemy attacks phase through you in Sekiro and Bloodborne too, the only difference is the animation. Not to mention literally every other action game with iframes

No, that there's nothing particularly actiony about it.
Everyone's dopamine goes up when Goku redirects a beam or even blocks and tanks it. No one thinks "that's bad ass" when Oolong jumps into a ditch to avoid an attack.

I honestly didn't enjoy Elden Ring's open world and I never got how much people loved it when it first released. I'll admit a lot of the locales looked nice but in my opinion they weren't that fun to explore. The only things I enjoyed exploring were the actual fricking dungeons like Stormveil and the Academy for early examples. Souls series is way better when doing more linear/interconnected worlds.
Yes. But I don't know why people even bothered with DD2, it looks awful just from the art. Didn't play 1 for the same reason.
FROM, Ys, and Tales are all you need for ARPGs.

Frick off roll slopper. Elden Ring is nothing but a shitty game that doesn't even have an organic and immersive world. DD2's much better than that slog of a game.

Counterpoint: roll attacks exist.
why would an archer or mage ever use the grab button?
