Bethesda didn't even apologize or announced a DLC/ content patch. why should people give Starfield a chance when the devs themselves don't care?
Starfield could improve but I think its writing is in a much worse state than Cyberpunk, and that's the part of the game that's toughest to "overhaul". Everything else could easily be fixed through mods (rework numbers behind the scenes related to planet population of points of interest, add new points of interest and make them less frequent/more meaningful, more quests, etc). Modders could save it, if they care enough to.

On release it was dogshit. Right before 2.0 it was alright. 2.0 released and the game managed to be worse than release as it brought back old bugs and invalidated multiple builds. DLC released and it didn't address the build problem.
I had a good time with it at release (on newly purchased high end PC, only bugs i ran into was characters t posing, getting stuck in terrain a few times and the occasional crash) and thought it was a pretty decent game (say a 6 or 7 out of 10) and the updates and DLC only improved upon it.

It's still mediocre. The story is interesting at first, and the game presents some nice characters every now and then. However, overall, the entire experience is dull. The combat isn't satisfying because the AI is braindead. Despite having a bunch of implants that allow you to jump and slow time, they're never really useful because you can just walk to the enemy and plant a bullet in their head with little to no resistance. The game's world is completely devoid of life due to the lack of interaction with it outside of jobs and side jobs, and the side jobs are extremely repetitive. The game would be better if it weren't open world.
