Season 2 was incredible, but Season 3 feels like a step back (the bot is cool, but it just lacks any worthwhile content. You can do an ungodly long dungeon that pretty much demands a party for unique bot mods, but it's unnecessary due to the lack of any content that requires it). They're handing out ubers like candy, and you can now salvage 4 ubers and craft one of your choice. They added a gauntlet that's a troony speedrunner's dream (with leaderboards), but it's T70 (not that T100 is challenging). I've stuck with D4 since launch and I still enjoy it, but S4 is what I'm waiting for. They have 2 teams doing seasonal content, and even numbered seasons are all done by one of them.

Still no other games worth playing, so what else are you going to do?

Why was Season 2 good? Serious question, I don't know anything about it

It brought in the endgame bosses (which we're tired of in S3) and had neat vampiric powers. Blood Harvest was a fun rotating event (like helltides, but not shitty) that had fast XP and loot. They recently introduced some aspects that mimic some of the vampiric powers (like the rings in S2 that had heart powers from S1), so there's that. But once you smash Lilith (skulls in phase 2 are unskippable now, but it's only a minor obstacle), you're as powerful as you need to be and basically that character is done.

I see. You can still do the whole "legacy" character and still have some of the S2 benefits, right?

With the aspects. Every season, they implement something midway which brings back the previous season's abilities to some degree. This season there's a stone for the bot that basically acts like Shako. I see shit like that showing up in S4.
This is what you have to look forward to. That's it. https://youtu.be/ayBSu6bElfQ

I hate the gauntlet so much. I stopped playing completely after running it solo and some runs in 2-3 teams.

Running around some maze like a spastic over and over isnt something I can stomach. With aoz you atleast had a real challenge and use for the ubers you grinded beforehand, and it was even fun to push aoz tiers in a group with some bros... seeing everone getting stronger/better each run, grinding some ubers with duped mats in between.

They just give the team that made season 2 full control over all season content if they want anyone to continue playing in the future.

I don't do it except once a week to get the worthy caches. It's all 925 gear. If you transfer the caches to low level alts, it's level 60 925 for their class.

Well I leveled and geared a basic-skill druid to 100 with both uber stones. If the gauntlet was atleast semi-fun I would normaly just level another char... but ofcause they made the uber stones char-locked and there is no way I will grind malph 200+ times again for both stones to drop. Also there arent any new interesting builds to play, they are basically all weaker versions of what already was the S2 meta. They really shit the bed this time

I haven't done all the metas yet. I played TB rogue before (and PS is the meta now) as well as Pulverize druid (need to do a LS). I did another BS necro, but I love necros.

It sounds like best case scenario D4 will just become just as good as D3. Not the worst thing in the world, but a lot of wasted potential.

I played d2 in 2000 single player, and again when the remaster was released. I enjoyed it, 6/10.

I want to do a sp run on gamepass of D4 when it releases. Should I care about what all the autists say here and wait for "the best" patch of the game, or as a single player gamer, should I just play it as is on 28/3, thinking it was a mediocre game that I will never bare a thought of again?

Why is there so much drama about the balance of diablo? Isn't the game obj shit on a fundamental level?? Am I missing something?

Its just to casual friendly, it lacks complexity. The animators and artists are the only ones that deserve any kind of praise because if it werent for them, the game would be unplayable.

I had only really had fun with season 2 because the powers they added could be utilized by all classes and made some new, powerfull and fun builds possible.

Also the loot is shit, really shit. You get a brain aneurysm von ready all the useless stats.

Current season sucks but they re-introduced vampire powers from season 2 so they're at least listening to feedback. Supposed to be a huge loot rework happening too.

Seasons are really the best way to roll out predictable mechanical overhauls and progression resets.

I barely played any D3. I tried it in 2022 and found it near impossible to take damage. Everyone kept telling me to play the campaign like 14 times on Torment and I might be able to die then. D4 is amazing in comparison. It's also not offensive to my eyes.

    why would they?
what incentive do they possibly have?
they can't wait for d4 to be forgotten so they can revamp it with an expac and then once that's forgotten they will move on to d5

Yeah, now you get an OP companion

As a side note: can someone please explain this universe to me (this is literally my first diablo since i played d2 like 15 years ago)
    >you are the hero
    >only ever like 2 or 3 other people with semi competent abilities
    >humans found in the wild die like helpless morons
    >literally no allies around, and campaign allies are kind of useless and would die fricking instantly if they werent invincible
    >d4 has the knight army in the end of the campaign but it gets absolutely instawrecked
    >rest of the knights chill in bases doing frick all
    >dungeons have knights and humans as enemies

so you just solo the entire might of hell on your own? you think there would be packs of allies around in the world that kill enemies or are at least an even match duking it out. No epic scenes of big battles, etc. it kind of breaks the immersion when you're the only one doing anything IMO

      >so you just solo the entire might of hell on your own?
You solo it in D1 and partially in D2.

In D1 you beat up Lazarus' force of summoned demons in a chapel basement. Plus one weakened Prime Evil.

In D2 you run mostly around the world beating up local fauna, but admittedly you do end up storming hell & killing all three Prime Evils and most of the minors too.

By D3 the lore was lol lmao so whatever, I guess you kill the angel of death, Witch Doctor was a bro though.

In diablo all the humans are half-demon half-angle the nicest guy you know or your greatest nightmare etc....but as a whole they've either been stripped of this power or just had it diluted heavily over generations. The player characters in diablo characters are essentially real ass nephalim unlocking their full potential which is why they can kill demons and angels including the prime/lesser evils.

One thing that blows me away that nobody is talking about is that Diablo 4 added an AWSD movement option, Asmongold b***hed about it, PoE 2 mentioned they where going to add it, Diablo 4 then took that opportunity and added it this season. I am a die hard ARPG player, I play most Diablo and PoE seasons and after playing this Diablo 4 season trying AWSD keys then hopping into the official Last Epoch launch and going back to click to move, it hurt.

D4 had some amazing QOLs, but as usual, nuBlizzard took 3 steps backwards with the rest of the mechanics and left us in a big mess.
