I understand judging a game for the music but stories aren't important, also judging an entire year with just one game is stupid. Having said that i can agree 1997 might have been the best year for videogames together with 1994, 1996 and 1998.

If you are going to give the Star Wars example Halo is a much better fit. Especially if we just forget about the sequels for a second going only by what we knew of Halo CE. Amazing score and a good enough easy to understand and digest sci-fi plot that easily could have also worked as a movie. Had a good enough ending that left a lot up in the air of what the series would eventually turn into. Also Chief only speculated that there was more. Cortana thought it was finished at the end. So things were left up in the air at the end if there would even be sequels. Everything about it could easily have worked as an action packed sci-fi with a great epic soundtrack and storyline included.
The sequels could have also worked as far as I am concerned but probably if they took away certain elements.

Playing it for the first time since childhood on my shitty phone (LG G4s epsxe @ 1x res kek) with the beacause canon translation. Having fun so far but the mini games are awful on a touchscreen. Afaik there is no way to play the android version with a translation nor will the obb fit on my shitty onboard memory 64gb sd card be damned.
