I had a dream last night that I was playing a game where I was flying down a hallway and dodging obstacles. Not that weird or interesting, but it's related.

Maybe because you were younger? Dreams are more vivid and easier to remember as a kid, at least for me they were.
Just dying in Runescape and losing all my shit. Had that dream every night, for my whole childhood.
I've been waking up dreaming and fearful in the middle of the night multiple times confused and fighting necromorphs since I replayed Dead Space. I find myself staring at my window fan confused as to why the necromorph doesn't enter the room. I hold my fingers out wondering why the lasers aren't working. I worry if I turn over a necromorph will finally show up. For some reason I've always been able to move in these dream states. Had a doctor tell me it's not normal and that I'm probably hallucinating because of my underlying condition. The worst was a night years ago when I huddled beside my book shelf hiding from a demon dog. I'm an oldgay too. Too old for this shit.

No wait, when i had metal gear 4 i dreamt one time i was sneaking around a town at night, avoiding streetlights and creeping under cameras n stuff. That town's always empty tho lol. Never anybody there

i'm old as hell, but way back in the day one of the first "nightmares" i remember was about playing smb on nes, i was on one of the night levels with the black background, but there was lightning in the game, and it shot out little bolts diagonally down at mario really fast. i was probably 4 or 5, and it was really vivid, i still remember it really clearly.
Not quite but maybe you guys can help me. This is one of my oldest gaming memories, it's so ephemeral that I'm actually not sure if it was real or if it was a dream or imagined. I must have been around 4 years old, playing one of the spyro games on playstation one (one of my favorite games as a child). There's a zone in one of the maps that is something like an underhang off the side of a cliff/mountain. You go in it once for whatever reason and I don't remember what you do there. What I distinctly remember though, is that I used to go there often for whatever reason, and 4 to 5 year old me got terrified once because there was huge monster in there even though there was usually nothing ever there.
I still get scared by shit like that in games to this day, this thing where you've been in a place in a game over and over and you think you know everything about the area and bam, one time, there's some monster. It happened to me in pikmin 1 too with the kind of water monster that sometimes spawn on the first map, but to a lesser extent.

As a child I had a dream that I found a new continent in Super Mario World. You got there by taking Bowser's airship. It was shaped like the USA with a a dozen new stages and a big city as a separate area like Vanilla Dome.
I was so confused when I woke up that I spent the whole morning playing SMW sure that the continent must be there somewhere.
After playing MGS V all night I had a wowed dream where, in third person, I was controlling myself in the fox engine and trying to sneak past police to get into a kinoplex and watch a movie I was too young for
When I was maybe like 7-8 years old, I kept getting re-occuring nightmares where I would get killed by some entity in Halo 2 over and over (something like the ghost from lockout). There's no reason why it should have been scary but it was. It got so bad that it was affecting my sleep a lot and my dad started putting me to sleep with music, which made it go away.
After I quit WoW, I would get a really intense dream every few years where I'd dream about playing the game and I'd wake up in the middle of the night wanting to go play it again. The game used to be literal crack.

I constantly have OoT-like dreams. And it's nowadays. Yeah.
Not a dream, but I experienced "that kid". It was back when Diddy Kong Racing had first came out, I had just started to play it and I talked about it with some kid in school:
>Him: "hey, did you know that, if you beat a bunch of time trials in the game, you can play as T.T.?"
>Me: "No way"
>he was right
>Him: "hey, did you know that, if you get the gold trophy in every trophy race, you can unlock space world?"
>Me: "But I just beat the game, no way that's real"
>its true
>Him: "hey, did you know that, if you beat every race in the game again but while playing as T.T. the whole time, you can unlock the third Wizpig race where you must race around the island against his submarine in your hovercraft?"
>Me: "Oh man, I got work to do to see that!"
Guess what I spent nearly all of that summer trying to find?

when I was 7-8 I obssesively read walkthroughs before I beat games bc I was shit and could never finish Majoras Mask. I made up a whole dream sequence about the part at the end where you get teleported around and have to fight the mask except some family was there and also this little annoying shit that kept asking me riddles, I was scared I would be trapped
no. I sometimes dream of dying, and it feels strangely soothing, like I'm a bottle of water being emptied but slowly in a laminar flow

I had a dream about Majora's Mask where on the final day some people in Clock Town travel down into underground bunkers. And you can explore these bunkers for additional dialogue and find secret areas.

I was playing a random Pokémon game and woke up as the me in the dream passed under a bike path looking thing just south of a pond in an area with a sandstorm. Turned out it was the Northeast part of the Battle Zone (ending in the middle of Route 228) in Diamond and Pearl long before it even released in Japan.
Maybe when I was a child; I have vivid memories of something like F-Zero but you where in a road instead of a closed track.
