    who cares?
movies wish they were video games
the video game industry eclipses movies, TV, music, and the next 10 most profitable combined

video game industry literally btfo'd every other entertainment industry on the planet.

      >who cares?
Certain people in charge of propaganda and movies. Games have too much gameplay and you can't brainwash the populace like that, you need to sell them virtual movies with epic stories and "moral" lessons.

This is why you should care. The medium is bigger than just making interactive movies, but that's where the big budgets are going. When's the last time a shmup got a AAA budget? One of the earliest genres and the only people making games like that are indies. That's only one genre. Instead we get these boring walking movie shit games. Now with super hero quips!

Yet everyone in the industry (at least in the west) still acts like insecure kids hoping daddy Hollywood will notice them. It's sad.

Games were already better than fricking gay ass movies thanks to immersion through gameplay.

Then all the failed moviegays started to infest game dev spaces and released nothing but slop shilled by jounos for a decade and now we're stuck with indieshit and AAA movie games, with a rare gem that spawns out of the cracks of a stagnant, stale industry to make something like Baldur's Gate 3 or Hi-Fi Rush

The worst part of it is that it's almost always ACTORS becoming game DIRECTORS.
That fricking sucks, movies directed by actors flop 95% of the time. Do you wanna know what the best hollywood game is? One that is created by someone who could truly push gaming into the spotlight that Geoff and Kojimbo so desperately crave?
BOOM BLOX. A game from Steven fricking Spielburg himself, that presents itself as goofy shit that wouldn't fly in the theater. The best part? This game is actually good fun, it's one of the wii's best under-the-radar games and it's completely antithetical to what you see at game awards.
      >Hi guys I'm Matthew McConaughey, lead star of Intersteller, here to announce INTERSTELLER: THE GAME. Christopher Nolan? Nah, we don't need him, I was Mr. Intersteller, not him!"
From Soft actually did this right for once, they didn't get fricking Kit Harington to help with Elden Ring. They got fricking GRRM the guy who wrote the entire series besides season 8. And sure, who knows what the frick he actually did, that doesn't matter.

The show is awful, he should just turn it into nothing but game trailers, announcements, and reveals with no audience or any of that nonsense. Nobody that actually like games cares about any of the awards, speeches, or other filler garbage that pads it out.

It's pretty funny that Neil Druckmann tried to make it about himself by mentioning the people who dropped dead at Naughty Dog.
I agree with just Super Bowl ad-roll the fricking thing. No one cares anymore.

People keep saying that but the only game I don't like that I bought and played anyway was COD and that was because my friends drink and play it together because anything is fun when drinking with your mates.

It's still weird that the shit lasted like 4 hours and basicaly all awards were given off stage in those quick side segments tbh.

He is speedrunning the show. It's obvious his entire focus is on the commercials and jerking off his industry buddies. The whole awards thing is just there for the false sense of legitimacy.

Because gamedevs are annoying hacks and they have nothing of value to say, no one is interested on who helped them or whatever. That being said, he barely gave any time to the GOTY winner this year which was awful, they basically delivered the trophy and ended the show.

      Anonymous

It's clear to a comedic extent he doesn't give a shit about the awards whatsoever. They only reason they are there is because he's forced to have them otherwise the show wouldn't have a purpose in existing. He's there to get paid from selling ad time and schmoozing with his industry buds.

10 minutes time slot saved for Hideo Kojima to ramble, then get ego stroked. I didn't recognize any Hollywood person on stage and I don't care. Geoff is such a little basic b***h trying to manufacture viral moments with Hollywood presenters.

Now that the Marvel cash cow is dead, a lot of Hollywood people are looking at video game adaptations. Mario and Sonic did well, so they smell the next big money maker for them to run into the ground and destroy with woke trash just like they did so many beloved movie and tv IPs.
