Did you play X/Y with EXP. Share on or off? I turned it off. I'd rather level up my Pokemon the old-fashioned way.

USUM is harder than every other game even with the exp share on anyway.

I didn’t say the game is hard. You’re not very good with reading comprehension, are you?

I turned it off after I realized how it worked.

Classic exp handling: A defeated Pokemon gives off an amount of exp. If exp share/all is active, half of the total is taken and distributed between one or more Pokemon holding exp share, or to everyone for exp all. The remaining half is split among battlers. Then the amount each Pokemon gets might be boosted by being a traded poke, lucky egg, etc. The more Pokemon you divide it between, the smaller a slice of the pie each ones get.

New gen 6+ way: All battlers get 100% of the total that would have previously been divided up. Additionally, if exp share is on, everyone who didn't battle gets 50%, without reducing the amount that battlers got. Instead of dividing up a pie, everybody gets a separate pie.

I can't make it divide up 100% instead of giving everybody 100%, and I do need to switch sometimes. But I can turn off the additional 50% going to everybody who didn't battle. And I could exploit this exp duplication thing by switching everybody in for a moment to get effectively 6x the experience out of every battle, but don't do this.

I remember when I first played X, I had no idea how broken the exp share was now. I was just pissed I couldn't isolate the training to a single new mon and left it off all gake, I really had no idea. The game was still easy though because free Mega-Venusaur and E4 with 4 mons is a joke

My biggest complaint is the games are too easy, so why would I do things like grind on wild pokemon with exp share on?
So going vs 2 level 10 mons with a level 10, 8, and 7 team that gets two to three shot adds challenge to it.

well there's another point of debate, do you use affection bonuses or not? at least in Gen 7 they're optional if you don't engage with refresh.

I didn’t say the game is hard. You’re not very good with reading comprehension, are you?

That difficulty is rendered pointless when the exp share lets you mass produce counters without any effort on your part. It's a necessary handicap.

                >Leveling 6 Pokemon doesn’t mean you automatically have counters.
You accuse other people of lacking reading comprehension and then you write something like this? No I don't "automatically" have counters but I quickly will in no time at all. If I struggle with a Fire type I just drop two pokemon for a Water type and a Ground type, quickly make them busted, and then all the difficulty evaporates.

                > but I quickly will
So…it still requires effort? Your previous post said it doesn’t require effort. Make up your mind, moron.

                Anonymous

So it still requires effort so there’s still some difficulty? Therefore leaving the exp share on doesn’t render the difficulty pointless? Thanks for proving your own point wrong.

That enemy is still being diminished by the exp share. They'd be tougher to beat without it. Eventually you'll have a load of broken Pokemon to counter everything. The second you get the exp share there's no reason to not just fill all 6 slots in your party. Even in Radical Reddit I don't feel impressed with the exp share. Pokemon's gameplay as it is just can't be balanced with the exp share.

The game is tougher to beat if you have a nice day in the foot in literally any way. This applies to literally anything in any game ever. I still have no reason to bother shooting myself in the foot.

X/Y were dogshit, but at least they were better than modern Pokemon for letting you turn off the EXP All. I played through X without it on and a team of 9 (I swapped out my team members when they got too high leveled) and had a pretty decent challenge being 9 - 10 levels lower than most boss fights.

Sad that that's the lengths you have to go to to have a challenge in that shitpile of gen

Off. I like it when only the ones I use in battle get experience. I didn't even like the pre gen 6 Exp Share or Exp All. It feels weird when a Pokemon that doesn't participate in the battle gets experience. Like, if you're giving experience to everything in the party, why not the PC too?
