difficulty and rpg elements don't match. the whole point of RPG elements is the ability to grind, level up and max out your character, which essentially just means: making the game easier for you.

yeah, you die in 3 hits instead of 2 hits.
are they supposed to make you grind more then moron
ofcourse they have to make it difficult
>are they supposed to make you grind more
You can just farm runes from easy enemies, even if it takes long. So yeah, the game encourages you to do so, especially to git gud before having to deal with Margit.
You're supposed to autistically memorize all enemies' movesets, attack, animations, etc. It's annoying, but the dopamine hit for when you defeat a strong foe is worth it. The open world is amazing and it's fun to explore without markers showing you everything. Also, playing as astrologer/mage is basically easy mode. The difficulty doesn't come from a selectio screen, but from the gameplay style.
>Also, playing as astrologer/mage is basically easy mode
There are some bosses in these games that give mages a real hard time where a melee build would be fine.
Now, summons take away all of the downsides of being a mage and trivialise the game, but that's another conversation.
I don't think pure mages are a true easy mode like people think they are.
In general though magic is mostly an easy mode in these games and is there for people who don't want to deal with anything intense and properly learn movesets.
IMO the best magic system in any souls like is the one from Code Vein. Melee attacks build up your mana, and your mana gets completely spent in just a few spells (think 1-5). it basically forces you to play spellblade, which is always ALWAYS the most fun class in these games for a variety of reasons.
>magic is mostly an easy mode in these games
i hear this a lot but all my mages get killed easy on a second go whereas all my warriors power through the game on a blind playthrough
exception being priest in dark souls 2 with those crazy strong lightning/holy bolts
maybe this is different for memers who read guides rather than discover stuff themselves. but it seems like as a warrior you can just carry yourself with the battle axe you get from start, whereas as a mage it depends whether you find really powerful spells while exploring, and besides the aiming is ass (unless you use mouse maybe, but who wants to use mouse to play dark souls...)
I think magic is just easier to cheese with
>the open world is amazing
>content islands where most of the content islands are just slightly tweaked rehashes
>You're supposed to autistically memorize all enemies' movesets, attack, animations, etc
Then how come they have countless bosses with more than 1 enemy at a time where you have to rollslop to stay alive?
>the whole point of RPG elements is the ability to grind, level up and max out your character
You are wrong in so many levels.
how?
when a boss is too hard, just grind
>difficulty and rpg elements don't match
They do as long as it is balanced correctly.
Unfortunately Elden Ring fails at this miserably.
The most recent RPG that did character progression right is Kingdom Come. You start as a normal blacksmith's son who becomes knight butchering one enemy after another with ease. In Elden Ring, about 50% of progress comes from learning movesets of enemies. Once you do that, you can finish them off pretty easy in melee as long as you have enough stamina for dodging.
>wall of cope
How hard did you get filtered by Margit?
>pasta complaining multiple times game is casualized and trivial
>"what was it too hard for you? le filtered ecks dee"
Most intelligent Fromdrone
Which is why you can beat ER at lvl 1. Levels only increase HP and allow you to equip items. The rest is nothing but QoL.
>No story
>Barren open world
>No challenge
>Invasive tutorial slides, instead of optional writings like in the other games
>Dualwielding makes the game even more trivial
>Input reading
>Awful music
>Magic is overpowered
>No mimics
>Just summon ashes to win, bro!
>Bosses are easier to stagger now, meaning the game is even more casual friendly
>Most weapon abilities trivialize the game
>Like 75% of the game is optional
>No solo invasions
>No covenants, meaning that PvP has no point
>4 endings are the same (kek)
>Teleports (WHAT THE FRICK WERE THEY THINKING?????)
>Intro is a powerpoint slideshow
>"Altering costumes" system is the dumbest idea ever
>Fast travel
>Crafting is the most useless mechanic of all time
>They changed Malenia's white VA to some black foid for woke points (OH NO NO)
>All big bosses are garbage
>Cuck shit
>Feminist shit
>Simp shit
>Furry shit
>troony shit
>Gay shit
>Pedophile shit

>Final boss is a troony and a giant fish instead of kino old man battle like in literally all previous games
>Skyrim dungeons (that have no rewards)
>Boss reuse
>Asset reuse
>Worst camera ever
Is Elden Ring the worst game of all time?
>wall of reality
And still you die in one hit anyway. Great fricking game. But that's the point, righht? Just be really fricking hard? durrr darrrk souulls1 from software!
>One hit
Anon, you had 2/3 of your HP, and light armor
I guess "light" armor is as effective as tissue paper in prepare to die land
>light armor is light
No shit, Sherlock.
WOW, why even wear armor at all than!? I'm so glad being hard is literally the only thing that matters. That's fun.
you are intentionally underleveled.
go level up and dump points into getting more HP.
>b-but I'm trying to challenge myself!!!
okay then don't cry when you intentionally gimp yourself for a challenge and you actually get challenged.
>you are intentionally underleveled.
oh that's a good one
>have full health
>die
watch them defend this..
Yes? Since when is dying in one hit bad? Ever played Mario?
Especially here when you have the tools to not die, like having more HP. Not to mention gitting gud
mario requires at least 2-3 hits before you die from full health, moron
Mario doesn't even give you a health bar.
You can avoid optional bosses. If you want more HP, kill easier foes until you feel more confident. Also, learn the movesets. It's a soulslike. If you don't have the patience (or autism) to learn dodging, then play something else.
No one is forcing you to play it. Go back to Snoy movies if that's your difficulty level.
Give me God of War is harder than this shit lmao
Margit requires you to learn his moveset and attacks. God of War doesn't require patience or learning, it's a movie.
Also
>muh the game is hard because I die from one hit
>muh the game is too easy because I defeated Margit with spells and ashes
oh noo it doesn't count. lol fricking easy ass game
Is it too hard or too easy? Make up your mind.
Looks like you cant make up your mind
What are you even talking about?
you are terrible at this game. why would you even record and post this garbage footage
>terrible
>make the boss my b***h
Wow really hard game lol
the boss didnt look at you once lmao. your summon pulled all the aggro. you threw some big spells from a safe distance then proceeded to miss a fully charged grandeur
Sure sounds like a hard game than lamo
You're weirdly into the game being hard
Isn’t that the tutorial boss?
Light armour is for getting resistances to status effects, filling out your set when you're near equip load and fashion. It's pretty shit for damage negation most of the time.
they're defending this..
>you had 2/3 of your HP
You do realize you are making his point for him?
You take extra damage if you get knocked off your horse. Also this is like one of the hardest field bosses
>You take extra damage if you get knocked off your horse
Wow great idea. WOuldn't want the game to be FUN or anything when the only thing that matters is making it stupid difficult.
?
Riding horse already gives pretty big advantage against any enemies. It's just a small demerit to force you to use your brain
im not the guy you replied to, but riding on the horse is kind of ass when so many enemies do weird stunlock flurry attacks that hit you 5 times in 1 second and dismount you.
I don't really remember any enemies like that in the open world. Except the lobster and archer guys maybe since they have ranged attack. Most of the time you can just kite them easily
when you're riding a horse, enemies who hold torches do this thing where they just stick their torch out for like 10 seconds and if you're a melee build, you cant do shit about it but stand there and wait for them to put the torch away.
>this is like one of the hardest field bosses
it's not real difficulty
it's Fromsoft difficulty
>dogshit camera
>crooked terrain
>boss keeps flying outside of the arena, and then resetting himself
You can grind to make the game easier for yourself though?
If you took the time to grind to 99 in a few stats the game would be way easier.
You can grind to make any Souls game easier.
Elden Ring and Dark Souls in general have things called soft and hard caps, where you have diminishing returns when a stat reaches a certain value. Generally leveling up past some absurd level like 300 doesn't really help that much. You don't get that much HP once your vigor goes beyond 60.
Besides lategame Elden Ring enemies hit so hard it feels like your level just got reset to 1.
The only thing having a high level does in these games it let you do more of everything.
With a bit of research, we can figure out what level that fromsoft unofficially "intends" to be the max level of the game.
This can be done by, first, leveling up HP to the soft cap, and then, continue leveling your other stats until you see flat physical defense softcap itself.
In elden ring, this is level 160
In bloodborne it's level 140
I finished Elden Ring first run around RL 168 so it sounds about right. The whole "you must beat the game at RL 120" were PvP gays. You get a ton of runes lategame and there were some easy farm spots that yield 20k in mere seconds that doesn't need a youtube guide to figure out.
>I finished Elden Ring first run around RL 168 so it sounds about right. The whole "you must beat the game at RL 120" were PvP gays.
I intentionally make sure to level myself out of range of metagame shitters
it's only a problem in Elden Ring because it's nonlinear. In Souls games they're basically linear so as long as you aren't actually farming souls you probably won't be overleveled. In Elden Ring if you're good at the game it's beyond easy to become overleveled without even trying.
i wonder if this is part of why the bosses were more notably fricked up than usual
You're supposed to level as you go and at a rate that matches the difficulty
>at a rate that matches the difficulty
You level as much as you want. The game doesn't give a shit if you're 'too' powerful for a certain boss. The difficuly depends on when you decide to fight and defeat a certain enemy.
Sure but unless you're grinding or doing everything you probably wont get over levelled
>RPG elements
>armor does nothing
it's just a barbie dress up game for edge lords.
It mixes wonderfully, it allows you to tune the difficulty by playing the game in various ways. You can either go balls out powerfantasy with an OP build or limit yourself to stay at level 1 using a rusty knife to beat the game. The reason this works so well is because they've essentially eliminated RNG from the mix, there are no DPS checks or AOEs that can't be avoided thanks to the i-frame roll giving you tons of freedom you wouldn't have in a regular RPG. I'd say it's genius.
Just beat Lies of P and pirated Lords of the Fallen, considering buying it on steam because of updates and whatever.
Is it possible to get that dlc class once you beat the game or will it forever be locked behind a paywall?
Elden Ring is a combination of skill and RPG mechanics, it doesn't have to be one or the other. It's a combination that is fun, thus the elements match. Don't overthink it.
