March is when their financial term ends, we won't get any Switch 2 news until after that
The reality is that they are always looking into the next hardware once the Switch is out, but they already decided that the Switch was going to last longer than usual, which it is, this year is going to be 7 fricking years since it's launch, and with both the type of games we are seeing and some of the patents and chips being formatted, it's getting close.
It mostly just FEELS like it's coming. Nintendo really doesn't have a whole lot coming to Switch, and what is coming is very clearly B-Team or even C-Team projects, as if they've got their A game making a bunch of games still yet to be announced for an unrevealed console. It's the same kind of feeling they gave off in 2016, the year preceding the Switch.
The only other alternative is they really do just have jack shit being done by all of their offices, which sounds even less likely.
