No.
I love non-lane limited tower defense like this.
Specially when combined with other genres like rts, survival crafter, etc.
Too bad the only good ones are this and that one mech game.
I always liked the ones where you can build a maze for them, like on wc3 custom maps
>"pewpew" star wars lasers
I like how the shitty compression makes the lasers completely invisible. gay.
> bragging about playing with a handicap
as long as it's fun who gives a frick?
you're only supposed to disable them when they take too many UPS.
just nuke them lmao
Simple solutions are the best.
>funner

pedant
whats the point of building if its not in the pursuit of bug genocide?
>ameridumb education
I never understood what the point of these games is if you can't lose.
inb4 seething Satisfactory cucks
i've never disable them, but i don't understand the point, they are pretty much irrelevant
>I never understood what the point of these games is if you can't lose.
they are easy ocd and dopamine points to decompress
people just want to build stuff for their own satisfaction
its just a different method of enjoyment is all, anon. satisfaction (guh huh see what i did there) of making a big complicated machine that runs perfectly. autistic? maybe. but hey, who cares
Its like Opus Magnum, in that youre solving problems and trying to do so as efficiently as possible
It soothes my autism
>lose
I mean even with Biters on I don't think I've ever "lost" in Factorio. I've had them overrun and destroy parts of my base before but I've never gotten into a totally unrecoverable state, worst case is I have to rebuild a few assemblers and such. Also with the way Biters evolve, there is always a smooth increase in danger, you can tell when your front line is no longer holding and you need to reinforce with more walls or turrets. I feel like you'd almost have to intentionally try to end up in situation where a surprise attack comes out of nowhere that absolutely obliterates you.
Speaking in terms of usual settings at least, obviously with deathworld or mods it's a different story. But I've never found the Biters to be much more than just another type of resource/pressure that you have to manage and an obstacle to slow down your own expansion, they've never been like a serious threat that can feasibly cause you to lose.
you can loose. your fail state would be closing the game before launching a rocket i suppose. "giving up" essentially.
also, if you have biters turned on you technically can run into a sort of game over where the biters are just way too high level and spawn way too frequently in high numbers for you to combat them.
i had this happen to me on my first solo playthrough (played with my buddy the first time around) and i was so busy micromanaging bullshit, tearing my trainstation down over and over again just to move it a couple blocks or improve its efficiency by 1% or i would wait around for my shitty bot swarm to get anything done but just slowly move through the air because they loose energy constantly and would rather all hog the same charging station instead of going to the next.
in the mean time my factory was continuously shitting out pollution causing bugs to ramp up significantly and eventually, because of all my hangups, my productions for everything was so low that i couldnt maintain my factory anymore and i would have to let myself get completely overrun until the pollution stops and start from scratch. obviously, just starting a fresh file was the simpler choice. a more skilled player wouldve likely been able to salvage this situation
It has the best fail-state, that being (you) being filtered and giving up.
Basic biters suck ass. You can play for 10s of hours and they do frickall until out of nowhere your base is a whack-a-mole of alert sounds as they send a handful to harass your mining outposts.
Rampant of off.
I don't know man.
A good chunk of the fun for me comes from researching artillery, tanks, nukes etc. and blasting the shit out of them. What're you gonna do with all the cool weaponry if you disable biters?
My problem is that I don't want to bother with biters early/mid game, but once I reach endgame I want to rain artillery shells on them and watch as massive bug floods get obliterated on my impenetrable perimeter walls.
I think disabling mobs is a completely valid way to play any building game. I always play minecraft in peaceful because combat isn't really my thing
It completely invalidates almost entire technology tree in factorio however. I find disabling biter expansion a decent alternative.
If you do this you're such a pussy. What kind of man doesn't love building structures to beat an inferior species into submission?
They're fun early on when you get your first gun turret and run around it panicking, but very soon after that you build your first wall and for the rest of the game they basically don't exist. You don't even see them, except when expanding. Expanding the base becomes it's own extraneous minigame where you occasionally have to stop playing factorio for a bit to play a much less interesting game about shooting stationary objects. then you extend the wall and go back to never seeing them.
>he doesn't have fun killing bugs
They need to expand on the bugs tbh
