I dunno man, I thought it was pretty funny.
I'd already laughed more following the first interaction with Klaasje than I had with any other game in memory
How do you find anything in the game funny
Literally every joke is the same kind of "you did something Peter Griffin would do, but in purple prose" shit
I mean, it's fine to admit to yourself you don't like something most people do like.
The whole concept of the different aspects of Harry's psyche all talking to him with distinct personalities is pretty unique - especially in a video game - and was well executed.
Your personal perception of the style of writing is totally subjective - I thought it was very good without being wanky
>and was well executed >interjections are rng so a random idiot irrelevant to your "build" can hijack everything
Yes I understand the theme. No it doesn't justify annoyingly slapping control out of the "player"'s hand
It makes sense mechanically for an rpg given the dice rolls are influenced by your stats. It really doesn't have a negative impact on gameplay in the way you're suggesting though - you may miss out on some aspects of dialogue, but actually using that system makes it more likely you'll get more content in a playthrough that ordinarily you'd miss out on by min/maxing
>It really doesn't have a negative impact on gameplay in the way you're suggesting though
There's no "gameplay" to have a negative impact on. It's like a Telltale game where the wheel can randomly give you a choice between shooting Clementine and dying

That is gameplay by definition - also, you aren't really locked out of or forced to take certain courses of action depending on dice rolls - all the important events are white checks which can be attempted more than once
Calling it purple prose is only accurate some of the time. The game is also at it's funniest when it isn't using that style of writing which often reserves for it's attempts at at being emotionally affective in other ways. Or in other words, there is purple prose but often not during the comedic bits. A brain damaged character repeating the same line over and over again is not purple prose and it's one of the jokes you will see referenced in almost every DE thread, just for one example.

Your 3rd year English major intellectualizing doesn't make the writing any less disjointed or annoying.
That's your subjective opinion, which you're entitled to even if it is a minority view, my man.
Seems more likely you're just another seething /misc/tard who can only form an opinion based on how 'woke' or progressive something is
>muh postmodernity
And you can have an opinion based on how well the authors signaled they agree with your moronic worldview too, it doesn't make the worldview or the writing good.

Why don't you homosexuals move on to A Night in the Woods or Life is Strange. They're both funnier (intentionally and unintentionally) and just as good at signalling your politics to you.

Should've been female
No, should've been a cat.
He's literally me
He is literally me
People who want their hand held through a walking sim but also want to pretend they're playing a real game
Visual Novel for pseuds afraid to read books without pictures
r*dditors can pretend they're smart because the game has extremely surface level politics and promotes communism.

This. The writing was very annoying and made my brain hurt with the big long words. Fricking english majors...

Good detail
Commies accidentally make an intelligent and unique work of art while trying to write a shlocky postmortem of their precious little ideology.

I need to replay this just for those lines
