>but the game is objectively ugly. the graphics are shit.
This. The box art and the promo video featuring it did it better than the actual game.
It's also certainly no Okami.
Just watch the CEDEC 2023 developers presentation for PLA, you're right, they used filters to make the game look pretty but the base game is still ugly and irredeemable.
I got to disagree on that. it compromised, it's not going enough on the ol japanse painting style, it's between this style and more realistic/SwSh graphics.
The Xitter is right for once and pokemon shouldn't try to go for a realistic style llike SV/SwSh.
Having some inspiration from art nouveau or art déco for the style could be nice:
People say that but then expect every AAA developer to spend 95% of the budget on graphics. The constant generational jumps of the 90s-2000s mindbroke us into thinking that that kind of thing was sustainable forever. It isn't, and we've hit the wall with graphics with the PS4.
People really don't get the point that conceptually the artstyle might be fine (subject to personal taste of course), but the performance/optimization makes the game look like shit
>twittergay can't separate artistic vision (cel-shading and old japanese paintings) from objectively shit graphics (low-poly terrain, smeared ground textures off the main path, tiny, easy to see repeated textures in locations like water/bogs)
It's as pretty as it is fugly, not even a next-gen upgrade will fix that, nor will the perception originaly presented wither.
There's no cope from pokemon fans that's more disingenuous than "oh you want the games to not look like dogshit? CLEARLY that means you want forced realism"
The textures of the pokemon in SV were nice. The heart scales of Luvdisc are a nice little touch. Seeing pokemon that should be fuzzy/ furry actually being just that instead of a single wrapped texture. I wouldn't mind if they did both.
she's right.
>she
the game has a nice art style, it tries to emulate old japanese paintings. of course the morons on /vp/ missed that.
but the game is objectively ugly. the graphics are shit. as usual, twittergays can't seperate art style and graphics.
>but the game is objectively ugly. the graphics are shit.

it's pathetic that it couldn't even be a quarter as beautiful as a game from nearly 20 years ago

An okami-style game wwould have been good, not like PLA
This was how Nintendo fans as a whole used to be before the Switch era.
I understand the art style very well. It's just could've been executed much better.
Go on then
What's her bio
AIIIIEEEEEEE
why do trans always act like stereotypes?
Why use yellow? Wouldn't it make more sense to use the white Flabebe?
Graphics are unimportant. I really thought that everybody knew that.
They matter when you're trying to win an argument on the internet!

Graphics >>>>>>>>>>>> artstyle
Let me guess, your skin is the same colour as shit.
Thats not an argument, israelite.
NINTENDO
Oh yeah, not ugly.
The game does have a nice artstyle just in awful quality.
People really don't get the point that conceptually the artstyle might be fine (subject to personal taste of course), but the performance/optimization makes the game look like shit
Legends was very ugly, but people got used to SV looking even worse.
>female
opinion discarded
no, just keep it anime. SwSh had a good artstyle. Just keep that. SwSh had a million other issues but artstyle was not one of them
Yeah, the Pokemon camp interactions are the best the games have ever looked. SS environments just look shit.
>twittergay can't separate artistic vision (cel-shading and old japanese paintings) from objectively shit graphics (low-poly terrain, smeared ground textures off the main path, tiny, easy to see repeated textures in locations like water/bogs)

If I wanted to look at Twitter posts, I'd be on twitter. Consider killing yourself.
But French art at the time was just trying to copy sumi-e.
>"art style"
The artstyle is fine, the LIGHTING and Texture quality sucks.
>Kalosperm are now shillings
How pathetic
Tell me you only play Pokemon without telling me you only play Pokemon.
On the other hand, we had Okami, which looked nice even for PS2 era graphics.
>Guys the new games don't look that bad they just took inspiration from my elementary school drawings
This "realistic" approach to the environment clashes with the character and (specially) Pokemon models pretty bad. This isn't Zelda
There's no cope from pokemon fans that's more disingenuous than "oh you want the games to not look like dogshit? CLEARLY that means you want forced realism"
That's the thing, I do want realistic graphics.
Monster Hunter World proves it can be done.
OP this person is fricking insane, they advocate for cheating of all things
>verification not required
>queer person is also overly promiscuous
Well, THIS is a new one!!
you forgot
>and bpd
What were they talking about? Are those even english to begin with?
fw = frick with
They're talking about porn and fetishes.
leave the poor girl alone you freaks
>Leave xwitter girl alone!
Twittergay isn't exactly wrong...
But the textures in PLA are from 1996.
Twitter thread
Artstyle is really good, graphics suck.
It would be fun if PLZA's art style looks like Impressionism or van Gogh's.

pokegays are literal shiteaters

Sounds like cope. Legends looks like dogshit, just like all of Shitfreak’s half-baked slop.
Little Town Hero had an artstyle but PLA does not which is strange as hell considering that GF made both
I've already been saying this, this game's art style takes full advantage of everything it has within its limitations and looks really good for it.
