Should have been a no brainer at launch imo, VR is not in a position where it can afford to be exclusive
Is the VR2 even decent compared to other VR sets?
I thought the thing was shit and the only reason why anyone would deal with it is because it is the only one that works with the PS5.
OLED
HDR
Pretty good res (2000x2040 per eye)
Inside Out Tracking
But uses fresnel lenses
Lenses are a huge deal tho. Tried going back to my Quest 2 while charging my battery and that thing was blurry as hell. I dont get how I could ever use it as much as I did (pretty much constantly)
The fresnel lenses on these are pretty good but they're still fresnel
Sell me on the PSVR2 hardware, comparing it to other headsets in the price range.
What are fresnel lenses and why are they bad?
>What are fresnel lenses and why are they bad?
They have god rays and require the headset to be fat. Modern headsets use pancake lenses because they have less artifacts and allow for leaner headsets.
Quest 2 had fresnel and Quest 3 has pancake lenses.
If it wasn't for the lenses. But this will be a streaming solution (it's missing so thing needed for dorect pc connect to be possible without a seperate box type attachment) so it basically looses any benefits it would get by being wired but still have the negatives
nobody direct tethers their VR shit anymore with wireless links not being garbage now
I use a Varjo Aero
It's the best set right now
Lol not by a long shot.
Best bang for money set, fo sho
Quest 3 and other modern headsets are still better, but not by so high a margin that it would override a high desire to play PSVR exclusives. If you want to main PSVR exclusives it's fine, but if you intend to mainly use PCVR, then get something else (not Index that's pricy, outdated, and overrated)
It's the best at some parts but completly lacking in other parts compared to other VR sets.
sweet, i can finally use a worse than standard peripheral for my phone games
VR for gaming is failure but glad it can be sold to pcgays for porn.
Sony gave up
No.
Biggest VR news in years. PSVR2 is a good product and now will actually have games.
It's mildly interesting but they need to explain how the frick this is going to work hardware-wise. Basically nobody has a graphics card with USB-C out so are they going to ship an adapter? Or is this going to be some clusterfrick where you have to stream your PC desktop to PS5 which then decodes it for the headset?
I only have a PSVR1 not the 2 but I imagine it's going to get an adapter. They already made 1 for making PSVR1s work on PS5s.
I had no idea graphics cards even had USB-C ports.
It's mostly a laptop thing.
Selling an adapter would probably also be their way to recoup costs since they were subsidizing the hardware.
>I had no idea graphics cards even had USB-C ports.
I think some RTX 2000 cards had USB-C but they scrapped that immediately for the next generation again.
If your card does not have a USB C out, it is not new and powerful enough for VR. I know you all think you'll be busting these out on your 1060 playing Indy Depression Simulator 2000 , but you really won't be.
Nvidia cards haven't had a USB-C out since the 2000 generation. What the frick are you talking about? Shut up.
spotted the poorgay sitting on a 2080
>500 bucks for a console VR headset mangled to work on PC
I'll stick with my 300 euro Pico 4 and stream wireless PCVR until there's a proper OLED headset in this price range.
Took long enough. I have absolutely zero interest in playstation games on modern consoles, HOWEVER; I do want the psvr headset to use on my PC for military sims.
People keep mentioning PSVR games coming over to PC, but I feel like we might see the opposite. Think this could be part of a deal with Valve to get Half-Life Alyx on PS5?
>to get Half-Life Alyx on PS5
snoygays don't care and only watch movies. Valve can keep it.
PCVR players will shit their pants if Wipeout Omega Collection VR gets ported to PC.
Wouldn't they have to port it to PS5 first? Sony just doesn't give enough of a frick.
PS4VR games are compatible with the PS5, you just need to play them with a PSVR1 + the adapter. It would only be porting it to PSVR2+putting on PC, which I assume is more or less the same workload.
If they want to go down the path of dumping their 1s party stuff onto PC, low hanging fruit like this is a given.
I would cum, but it isn't even PSVR2 compatible
>No VR games on the PS5
>They just port their hardware to PC
Amazing.
Sony wins again baby
All the good VR games are Quest exclusive though
good. I've been wanting this since I bought one. The oled is great but PS5 needs more vr games. This might actually even help Sony on PS5 too since some devs have skipped ports because PSVR2 has such a small install base.
I'm interested. Playing Village and RE4R is something I'd like to do because the Quest version of RE4 was good. The $550 still feels like a lot to me though. They need to drop the price or bundle a game that is Horizon shovelware.
I'm pretty pleased. I'll finally be able to watch porn on my Gran Turismo 7 accessory.
my laptop with intel integrated graphics has DP over usb-c, steam link?
So PSVR headsets are going to go up in value on the second hand market then?
the first one? why would they?
is psvr2 inside out or lightboxes?
I know the first one had it's own stereo camera for the ping pong ball wiimotes
inside out
As someone who has a psvr2 but doesn't have a modern PC VR headset (still got my oculus dk2 laying around, kek), this should buy me time until valve index 2 is out
HL:A is still like £50
all vr games on steam are expensive, and no ps+
That's not really true. Half-Life Alyx is like the only full priced game people care about.
Alyx regularly goes on sale for $20 though
should've gotten it during winter steam sale, $30 baby
