Quake might have had better performance and graphics than Golden Eye, but it was ugly and uninspired in every other way. No one respected Quake as anything other than a repeat of Doom.

We're talking about videogames that existed during a time when videogames were frowned upon. They were very far from mainstream or any kind of status symbol. We had every option available, but people gravitated towards N64 because it had amazing single screen multi-player. We could go to eachothers houses (not dilapidated shacks) to play videogames because we didn't live in an active war zone.
There's a reason EGM became so popular, they had good taste in games and gave honest reviews. Then their publisher was bought out and they were forced to play ball. Haven't been respectable since.
mario kart 64 is fun but good god has it aged poorly. worst rubber banding in the series, no vs mode, and very poor track implementation like many of the turns in bowsers castle >fifa/Pes in a top 20

You know what? I'm tired that people hate Nintendo, Sega, console gaming in general so much. In the US, pc gaming was always popular. Some games in that list are pc games. I wouldn't be angry if system shock, an ultima or wizardry, any worms, or diablo was in that list, because they are good games. I don't really care because I like them. If there is really a bonus, maybe it should be inclined towards pc gaming since pc games have existed in the US since always. But I don't care because even if that was the case I know they are really good games. Stop thinking everything has a bonus.
