Wonder who'll get cut off from smash 6

It begins. Frick you anon for starting it up again.
Sora probably. Most of the DLC fighters too come to think of it. I could see Min-Min staying on though because she's easily accessible but otherwise I doubt any of them are staying on. With luck this includes Byleth getting axed. I don't even mind the others staying on but get rid of Three Houses please.

idk they got cloud back for smash ultimate, I imagine most of the Squenix characters will come back. If they got Sora once they should be able to get him back again....but you never know

Cloud only came back for "Everyone is here" - Squeenix is the absolute worst to negotiate with by the sound of things so I imagine all are getting the boot save maybe for Hero.

I honestly think that Tekken franchise should get at least 1 more rep, someone like Kuma or Asuka

Almost as if Sakurai is mentally 13 years old like everyone else obsessed with Nomura's shitty character designs.

i could see them going for a soft reboot sort of thing and wiping the roster clean. i dont think that would be a bad idea, i feel like the lineup is kind of bloated and i agree with other peoples complaints about the anime sword fighters being over represented. on the other hand look at the wii u ports to switch like mario kart and pikmin 3, that shows to me that nintendo could easily just port ultimate over to the next gen. i just dont know how the licensing works with the non-nintendo characters which is why i think they might get rid of some of the bloat.

Keeping the original roster from the original smash then going clean I could see happening but I doubt they would go full wipe. Mario, Ness, Captain Falcon, Pikachu and the others? All too tied to Smash at this point. But going full wipe then doing nothing but new reps sounds fantastic. Alas that we'd still get Fire Emblem reps from whatever they'd shit out by then but still. Hell maybe they could add Raiden if they need new sword guys. I'd like some Revengeance songs Smash personally.

Nobody. They next Smash game will repeat the everyone is here trailer but instead of Snake they'll show Sora and announce "EVERYONE IS BACK!" There's no turning back from this point.

You have to figure they will regroup from scratch, and going forward build out the game into a more properly contemporary post-MOBA service. Ultimate feels like the last gasp for the "toy box" paradigm. Going ahead, I'd expect it to launch more lean, more "social", properly loopy, and with actual online. It's too lucrative not to: you've got to assume half the work for vanilla Ultimate was getting the Smash 4 engine retrofitted into an actual platform, a piece of technology they can mine indefinitely, and the DLCs are completely a testament to this. Maybe they've quietly been making plans for this for the duration and the entire roster's coming along, that's what I'd do, but I also wouldn't be surprised if they scale back to a core ~20 for launch, and then build up from there fresh.

Potential pros: they can rethink some of the characters who've been stuck with their 64 moveset ever since, and solve the overall problem of too many samey sword users. Making it live by at least Capcom or S-E standards probably means more "competitive" matchups. Cons: this probably means the roster solidifies into roles and everyone stops feeling like themselves, also everything else

I hope to god they do a roster purge next game. Ultimate was such a fricking pile of dog shit.

Its going to take a decade minimum for the "Everyone is Here" thing to have the same power as it did this time. And even then I said Minimum. We will all be in our 60s by the time we realistically get it again. And even then I doubt it.

        >Cloud, Sephiroth, Sora, Banjo
I understand these but why snake? konami doesn't care about videogames anymore, for what it's worth they would very likely allow nintendo to keep Snake and the Belmonts in as long as that makes them money. not sure if the are struggling with the gachapon but I'm pretty they wouldn't mind getting money from nintendo

Sora seems to be the most capable on the air, I'm excited for that, come to think of it, once people go pro with sora and they fight it will feel like a DBZ fight with how little time they'll spent on the ground.

Back then people wanted newcomers for characters they actually liked. Current rostergayging is more about hoping someone elses favorite character doesn't get in

      >Current rostergayging is more about hoping someone elses favorite character doesn't get in
It was always present to some degree, but it's definitely gotten worse. People are definitely more hostile about who gets in the game or who doesn't get in the game unfortunately, compared to back then.

it went from people actually wanting a character they like to wanting characters just to piss people off (Cinderace and FE reps are living examples of this), the hoes mad shit made rosterhomosexualry even more obnoxious.

There's a lot of things, and that's part of it. Feel bad for the legitimate fans of said characters as well for anyone who actually wanted a Sword & Shield or Three Houses characters in general. Everyone is here really was something in the long run. In general people will take potshots at the any of the characters actually in the game, people will take potshots at any of the characters not in the game, regardless if their most wanted is already in by this point and so on. Like it never stops with the tribal infighting.

Doubt they'd do Ultimate 2 next, they made it sound like a lot of these DLC additions were possible only BECAUSE this was Ultimate. You know, a one-time "let's make the biggest gaming crossover in history" thing. I'd welcome Sora again, but I'd be surprised if it actually happened.

Japan Time was the very reason rosterhomosexualry got out of hand and became more about hoping everyone else's most wanteds don't get in. It turned the roster into a tense, anxious, protracted contest for spots in the game, where any other fighter was a threat to yours. They really should have kept the "What's up, homosexuals, this is who you're getting" angle, instead of "OOOOOOOOOGGH WHOSITGUNNABE"
