its made by wayforward. its fricking garbage but unlike most of their games its not even pretty because they use shitty 3d backgrounds and mediocre art/animation. The shit visuals also make it feel too spacious and empty as even though its a remaster.
Controls aren't as precise as they should be. While the old actors being back is nice, the fact they are OLD actors means Scrooge and Magica sound extremely tired (both Alan Young and June Foray died a few years after this game came out too). It also fundamentally changes how stages work because in the NES game you could explore as much or as little as you wanted while the remake forces you to go through the entire map on each stage as they make you gather doodads to progress. Even formally hidden bonus areas are now required so all sense of discovery is pretty much shot.
On the bright side it does look nice, the remixes aren't that insulting, and the new final stage is a fun challenge (aside from the controls being unreliable when it comes to jumping and clinging to vines in midair which comes to a head in the final area which is nothing but).
The game somewhat ended up that way because a lot of the old guard at Disney production who worked on the show really wanted to be involved in it which surprised Capcom and WayForward (Who were really just going to do a "HD" version). Disney were the one who hooked WayForward up with some of the animators who worked on the show, got the surviving voice actors back and insisted on a story because they wanted it to be like a "Lost episode" of the show. I can't really fault Capcom and WayForward for not saying no to Disney because from Disney's POV. This was a huge passion project and a last hurrah for the Ducktales team at Disney because they might not be around for too long. It's flawed but there's some soul to it that makes you forgive the design mistakes a bit.
Yeah, I didn't say it was a bad game and my only real complaint is the controls.
Shame there will most likely never be a remaster of Ducktales 2 or the Rescue Rangers games (and Disney kind of intentionally poisoned the well regarding RR due to that moronic movie).
Too many FRICKING cutscenes in a game where each of the seven stages last no longer than 5 minutes. Just try playing the Amazon level and deal with constantly being interrupted for 30 seconds of Scrooge and Launchpad squabbling every time you pick up one of nine coins.
Much much worse than Mega Man X5, but the thing Capcom learned from it and tried to implement ways to add cutscenes without breaking the flow, like they did in X8. Wayforward has no excuse.
You can turn cutscenes and talkie bits off after finishing the game the first time. Don't know if they ever patched it to let you do it from the very start.
gotta shit on all other 2d platformers to pave the way for SMB wonder
we cant have people get sick of 2d platformers before that masterpiece is released

Gee, I wonder why this failed? Kind of like how Square Enix will publish damn near anything, yet wonder why people are sick of their games.

That's a shame because I sort of liked the 2020 Battletoads. I don't think most people liked Battletoads 2020 so maybe I'll still enjoy Disney Illusion Island anyway.
The vast majority of people who played the Battletoads reboot didn't even make it beyond the third level, in search of the queen. Turbobikes filtered most players again. It takes all of twenty minutes to beat the first three levels and almost 40% of players didn't even bother to play that long or learn the game.
Probably because the game is so terrible people decided it wasn't worth the time. Once the bile fascination wears off there's no point in continuing as it never gets any better.
I think people just bounced off the artstyle and never gave it a try
BT2020 even just in gameplay is an eclectic mess. The actual beat em up part is really standard outside of the tongue mechanic that mostly just makes it easier. Beyond that the game is jumping genres more than a Hideki Kamiya project and every single mini game lacks polish. The bike levels are only there because they're iconic to the NES game but they're not particularly fun. It's maybe a 5 or generously a 6 as a game dragged down by the awful presentation between the writing and inconsistent cutscene animation.
>Not edgy and graphic >Animation is sloppy and over-done for a beat em up >Simple things like health is too high for enemies and so is there wakeup timing, so fights drag on >Dark Queen looks like Canadian feminist slop, entirely a design that only lived from 2010-2016 before making everyone a bloated womenlet was seen as bad. >really unpolished genre shifts because the originals did it >The total antithesis of Arcade Battletoads
>strangely cynical
Wow, who would have guessed that the studio who made the Battletoads reboot would make a game where they blatantly hate the source material.
Is the remastered Ducktales game good, bros?
Yes
Wait until the 2nd remaster
Yes. They even brought back the original shows voice actors to be in it
Neat, thanks. I'm an ESL who grew up with the dubbed cartoon so the voices don't matter as much.
kek, have we had a game yet where the remaster got remastered?
>kek, have we had a game yet where the remaster got remastered?
i meant the 2nd game getting a remaster
we've had remasters get remakes though
>kek, have we had a game yet where the remaster got remastered?
Last of Us?

original is a much better game, but if you want to hear the old VAs again it's kinda nice

yeah it's pretty good but I like the look and music more in the original.
Yes but it loses some of the original charm with all those annoying cutscenes.
The last level is slightly harder, unlike the rest of the game.
Life is like a NIAGGER

so that explains Minnie's appearance
why the frick does she look like that.
Dlala Studios hates female characters showing too much skin, even if it's a harmless cartoon mouse
>No Clarabelle
Like states, guess she's too good for Dlala Studios
The fact her arms and legs are exposed was likely against their will
Damn, I was actually keeping an eye out for this game, the art and animation looked decent.
This is not even an art style. Its simply lazy and uninspired.
DLALA DOES IT AGAIN

that and the fart fetish scene
Its fricking terrible.
Why did they turned DQ into a femcel?
Most people don't like it because it looks like garbage, they took the lowest bidder from a public domain cartoon artist and hired them

How.
The game just looks like a slower, easier Rayman Legends
