Yeah, there were four. The good one (original), the godly one (012), the trash Extreme Vs ripoff (NT), and the gacha in this thread that's related in name only. So since 012 includes the whole first game, I guess you could argue they only made one worth playing, yeah.
NT gameplay wise wasn't even trash. It had a nice tournament scene for a while. People really hated it because the story was half assed and wanted certain characters to interact with each other. The story didn't have individual character stories and conflicts like the PSP games did.
SE somehow missed the fact that people enjoyed the story of Dissidia and LOVED the characters interactions above everything else.
They seem to have a hate boner for Caius. He was never added in NT despite existing way before the game came out. He was even added to Opera late into the game's cycle.

Have you actually played OO? It's much more faithful to the OG Dissidia in gameplay mechanics and way more story-driven than NT. Hell it's way more story-driven than all the other Dissidia games. It has the distinction of having way more characters added to it which gave opportunities to many characters from the series, who wouldn't otherwise be added due to not being main protagonists, to be able to interact with one other. Where else can you see Xande and Jihl Nabaat of all people have meaningful character development by interacting with Leonora from FFIV The After Years?
It also has a way better story that utilizes both Spiritus and Materia and actually give both WoL and Onion Knight better representation as the leaders of the groups compared to NT.
They added Jack and I respect his strength, so SE was cool for that. But they never added Zenos and had him go apeshit on everyone including the antagonists which would've been fun to see. The story was actually pretty good for a mobile game.
You can thank the FFXIV staff being too busy with both XIV and XVI. Team Ninja had to consult with the OG staff of each game to add characters and properly represent them.

They'd have to rejig the gacha for unlocks, but it's entirely possible. OO has a campaign mode, they could do it if they wanted cash.
But it's Square: If they couldn't figure out how to make FF11 work offline or port to mobile (while Ragnarok Online could/did) they won't do it here.

We'll have to see if S-E plans on hiring Team Ninja to do anything else. I'd love to see another FF game get the SoP treatment. Maybe even get a Dissidia: SoP game.
I sure hope they do, SoP was apparently successful enough that none of its DLC got canceled the way FF15's did. Next one desperately needs more development time so it's actually finished, SoP as it is is walking through the skeleton of a game that's maybe 40% complete. There were towns and shit planned!

Realistically speaking KH was always pretty light on the Final Fantasy stuff as far as plot, KH1 had

>Olympus Coliseum's Cloud and Sephiroth
So prominent cameos but none of them really have bearing on the larger plot past TT explaining Sora is a chosen one and OC explaining that some powerful people are aligned with darkness but still aren't all bad
Most of the overt Final Fantasy references are in the menu and magic systems, enemy designs and in KH1's case the final boss design for Ansem being a throwback to SNES FF games
You also get games like BBS where Zack in Olympus Coliseum is the only FF character in the whole game lol
KH getting less FF was entirely on Nomura. He said in interviews that the series didn't need FF anymore. He brought them back in the dlc after everyone complained.

Was this game actually good? I've avoided mobile gaming because of the very nature of it's practices. Is Opera Omnia just another Gacha game or is there more too it?
As someone that wasnt a big fan of FF, yeah, i had fun with it. Never spent, kept up with most releases, cheesed a whole lot of fights thanks to certain characters, getting dumped so many tickets and gems whenever a new summon was revamped, coop could be frustrating with people taking 9 hours to attack. I dont really have any major complaints with the game.
You could just try it yourself at this point, they even added a testing stage to practice with team building, and with all the resources you get, you can just pick and choose anything since they added that option with the EoS update.
Thanks for your reply and analysis. I guess I'll take a look at it. It's disappointing that NT was what it was. If only Square-Enix had just made another title in a similar vein to it's predecessors or at the very least ported them to modern platforms. Sad to see another game being tossed to the wayside for those that enjoyed it.

Kinda funny that Penelo of all characters ended up being the last Anniversary character. Every year for the Global version's anniversary, we'd get one or a couple of characters added or updated before the Japanese server did, and they were usually busted as shit. Beatrix, Aranea, Vivi, Balthier, Vincent, Cor, Garnet, and Penelo were the ones we got if I remember right.

How long does it take to beat the story. I assume it's easy at this point. I've pulled a decent amount over the years and have some of those top tier weapons as well that I assume will carry me.
It's insane how Opera Omnia evolved over time. I've never seen such absurd power creep in a game before, but it still managed to make it easy to keep up.
One funny about this game is that SE still has the nerve to force Nomura to draw Noctis again after they took the whole XV project from him. And to add salt to the wound, they even sell Noctis' VersusXIII outfit as DLC in NT not long after this, basically a big 'Frick You' to all the Nomura's work in the past ten years

Nomura doesn't do the DFFOO art. I don't think we were ever told who does it, but I'm pretty sure the artist changed sometime around last year. Something looked different about it by the time Reks got added.
