Haven't played either but all my friends say nothing but coomer shit about bg3's party. They generally say more positive things about divinity original sin 2's companions and actual gameplay.
Recently started playing divinity original sin 1 and it's kinda cool but i fricking despise how the entire game relies on talking to every fricking npc and there is no reason to do melee ever.
BG1 sucks (i played it for 2 hours and decided to stop)
I just think this genre sucks honestly.
I don't really want to see ugly girls getting fricked so I'm abstaining from BG3 until I beat the first 2 and play divinity original sin 2.

skill issue. I'll give you BG1, not everyone can vibe with your party being a bunch of shitters who can't kill a singular bear without a struggle for a chunk of the game but there's really no excuse for not liking BG2 other than being bad at micromanagement.
I'm actually giving that a try now. Just finished helping Amiri out with her 1st inferiority complex quest. Honestly, pretty good so far aside from not being able to.turn the camera to see better since it made the instances in 2D. Soundtrack kinda reminds me of the Artix Entertainment games.
you can move the camera with the toybox mod, it can be useful, just keep in mind that sometimes the map isn't made for a moving camera, so you'll see missing textures etc.

Character design is better in DOS2, BG3 has stronger art direction I think, mostly due to higher budget and better talent I think

the armor/status effect thing makes the game very difficult to learn in-play, but then if you actually learn the system and what works then it becomes too easy.
Ideally you can strike a balance where players gain knowledge while acruing the means to use that knowledge, but that middle ground is non-existent in DivOS2's systems.

Where did Larian go so terribly wrong?
Itemization: DoS2 - You could find much better items generally around the world than you could with bg3 (no luck skill)
Bg3 literally has useless items like gems and ingots because they were going to add crafting. There a few items in the game that you actually forge and only ONE of them is actually good.
Combat: DoS2 - bg3 combat is so limited. A lot more environment play with skills and being all based on action points is better than an action and bonus action. DoS has more build variety and more complexity as well.
Story telling: BG3 Obviously with fully realized and voiced cutscenes and memorable moments. Overall had better companions even though some had much more content than others. Negative is it's pozzed
Mechanics: DnD sucks wiener. I like being able to take out a bedroll and sleep. Having to long rest after every big fight is annoying and tedius. Using netherswap and teleport freely in the world was fun and intuitive in DoS2, extremely limited doing this shit in BG3. Necromancer is no longer cool thanks to Dnd5e limitations, can't just make a bunch of wards or elemental summons based on environment. It's all boring limited corpse summoning these weak ass frickers

pretty much agree but I will say that the DOS2 gear randomization was really annoying and being able to long rest and see the nighttime is really immersive, just pressing the bedroll is faster but makes DOS2 feel like one really long day which I don't like ofc an actual day night cycle would be ideal
I think Im really picky about companions in these games, I always feel like Im interacting with someones OC donut steal character instead of an actual person. Think Pillars 1 companions were good but overall most CRPGs companions are unlikable. I prefer if theres a way of playing alone or making my own merc squad that doesnt talk

OS2, there's so much bullshit you can do with apotheosis and extra action points and time warp.
the armor/status effect thing makes the game very difficult to learn in-play, but then if you actually learn the system and what works then it becomes too easy.
Ideally you can strike a balance where players gain knowledge while acruing the means to use that knowledge, but that middle ground is non-existent in DivOS2's systems.

Itemization: DoS2 - You could find much better items generally around the world than you could with bg3 (no luck skill)
Bg3 literally has useless items like gems and ingots because they were going to add crafting. There a few items in the game that you actually forge and only ONE of them is actually good.
Combat: DoS2 - bg3 combat is so limited. A lot more environment play with skills and being all based on action points is better than an action and bonus action. DoS has more build variety and more complexity as well.
Story telling: BG3 Obviously with fully realized and voiced cutscenes and memorable moments. Overall had better companions even though some had much more content than others. Negative is it's pozzed
Mechanics: DnD sucks wiener. I like being able to take out a bedroll and sleep. Having to long rest after every big fight is annoying and tedius. Using netherswap and teleport freely in the world was fun and intuitive in DoS2, extremely limited doing this shit in BG3. Necromancer is no longer cool thanks to Dnd5e limitations, can't just make a bunch of wards or elemental summons based on environment. It's all boring limited corpse summoning these weak ass frickers

pretty much agree but I will say that the DOS2 gear randomization was really annoying and being able to long rest and see the nighttime is really immersive, just pressing the bedroll is faster but makes DOS2 feel like one really long day which I don't like ofc an actual day night cycle would be ideal
I think Im really picky about companions in these games, I always feel like Im interacting with someones OC donut steal character instead of an actual person. Think Pillars 1 companions were good but overall most CRPGs companions are unlikable. I prefer if theres a way of playing alone or making my own merc squad that doesnt talk
