Divinity Original Sin 2 has the best turn based combat in an RPG ever made and i'm tired of pretending otherwise.
Shame the writing, plot, and world are kinda ass.

I never could playing DOS1 or 2 more than 2-3 hours. The whole combat/arena system feeled so forced.
>oh look there a water cratess
>oh look there are oil puddles
>oh look there is a good position for my ranged homosexuals
>etc.
It was so exhausting after the fifth fight.
You should have a nice day for disagreeing with you.
I want you to die because you have different opinions than me about video games.
just to point out - what a moron you must be to go specifically into the thread created for a specific game that is specifically said "turn based" in the OP, say "I don't like this game" like a fricking moron, without even proper spelling like a fricking moron, and loudly proclaiming yourself as a fricking moron shitting on literally the pinnacle of turn-based combat games. Go play overwatch or some shit, fricking moron.
>literally the pinnacle of turn-based combat games
oh come now anon, please be serious
>The pinnacle of turn based games
HAHAHHAHAHAHAH
It's mogged by it's own predecessor, D:OS2 fans are braindead.
DOS2 is miles ahead of DOS. You're just delusional.
>DOS2 is miles ahead of DOS.
It's armour system certainly isn't.
The armor system is shit and even the devs said it was
dos is better in every way, mate
>THIS IS -OBJECTIVELY- THE BEST X EVER MADE
>"I disagree, here's why"
>WTF WHY ARE U EVEN HERE WHO INVITED U?
You people are so far up your own asses it's unreal, do you seriously expect people to blindly agree with those outlandish claims?
It's really not, most of the systems are objectively worse.
D:OS1 is better in every way.
See
He's right. D:OS1 is definitely more fun.
Second most overrated game of the decade after Witcher 3. Worst itemization of any RPG I've ever played. It railroads you with its Chapter structure and xp gating that forces the player to go through quests/battles in a specific order to advance. Build mechanics are overly simplistic. Writing is mediocre. MMO style cooldowns. Quality falls off a cliff after Chapter 2. It has pretty good tactical combat and looks beautiful but that covers the positives. It also has surprisingly good stealth gameplay but unfortunately thief style gameplay is unviable due to the aforementioned xp gating.
>Quality falls off a cliff after Chapter 2.
Chapter 2 is my least favorite part of the game tbh. It's just fetch quest after fetch quest and it overstays its welcome at times. The only standout part of it is Wrecker's Cave. Arx unironically has better quests.
True but least Chapter 2 allows for some exploration and player choice, the rest of the game felt really railroaded to me. In some ways it reminded me more of a console game than a cRPG.
>the rest of the game felt really railroaded to me
I kind of agree, but I didn't mind it all that much, especially after Chapter 2. My main problem is that a lot of the content in it feels like filler. Like it's there to artificially extend the game. Reaper's Coast could easily be cut by half and it would be better for it.
The openness in Ch2 is nice, but I wish the game signalled what level a given quest would be, because it's really annoying to follow a thread for ten minutes, find out I'm two levels under it, and get slaughtered in the fight
The world is fine. It has a ton of cool ideas, but unfortunately it's very underdeveloped. As for the story, it has some dumb moments, but I didn't mind it overall. I only had a problem with the finale, which had some Naruto-tier writing.
>Divinity Original Sin 2 has the best turn based combat in an RPG ever made
Yeah bro after all who doesn't love
>Diablo loot
>Hidden level scaling in equipment that makes equipment one level below the current one completely fricking useless
>Fricked up economy that makes it impossible to deal with the aforementioned issue without stealing from every possible vendor in the game
>Stat design legitimately worse than fricking chink phone games where every single stat is just a 5-10% increase in DPS
>Racial system that isn't even there since races are purely defined by useless passives and useless battle abilities, when did you ever use a dwarf's or lizard's racial skill? That's right, fricking never because they're worse than basic level 1 skills
>Doom tier "shoot the red barrel" battle design
>elemental surfaces mechanics that are not merely useless but made incredibly one note by designers having a raging boner for fire/necrofire over everything else
>Absurdly unbalanced skill design where you'll never, ever want to level up certain skill by design, like Stealth, because they're already OP at level 1
>Incredibly monotone combat design by virtue of everyone having the same exact skills
>Overreliance on teleports making positioning completely fricking useless and the Torturer trait incredibly fricking busted
>A crafting system in name only
>Comically bad design oversights like infinitely stacking magic bombs, cooking pot barricades, speech prompt abuse for free and infinite buff/debuff stacking or wooden boxes and oranges with infinite content capacity
>The single worst armor mechanics known to mankind
>Absolutely zero fricking variety in encounter design, 80% of the game is humans with the same exact loadouts while the rest is half reskinned dogs half space wienerroaches
>Alphastrike meta so unbalanced it makes Bioware games blush in shame
>Last but not least, free access to respec at all time
Anyone who praise this pile of garbage should be shot in a dark alley
up economy that makes it impossible to deal with the aforementioned issue without stealing from every possible vendor in the game
That's not entirely true. You can also abuse the crafting system to generate an arbitrarily high amount of gold by churning out magic arrows, but only if you realise you can do while you're still in the second act.
Or just grow weed from the gift shop
It's all true. Not only that, but the temptation to abuse their fricking diablo loot system is too great and it just ruins everything.
This, on top of having moronic writing and humor. They tried to continue with their edgy/B movie/ironic style while making it incredibly bland and safe.
At this point I'm so fricking sick of ironic/"lel so random" humour in games that I'll gladly take overly serious/completely straight-forward, even in fantasy RPGs.
I don't mind a *tiny* bit of it but frick, DOS2 is just constant, it's like the writers were actively trying to undermine their own story just for the sake of lame reddit humour.
But is it better than D:OS?
I remember enjoying Divine Divinity for what it was years ago.
>But is it better than D:OS?
no.
LMAO, shithead, game is fun, name other game that at least tries to be that good.
>name other game
Try learning English.
it's not even the best Divinity game you redditor homosexual
I don't get it, did most of the people who worked on Divine Divinity die shortly after its release?
Why is every game Larian made after it, including Beyond Divinity to a large extent shit?
Divinity 2 (not OS) is the best Larian game but contrarians and posers like you only jerk off to the first game
Divinity 2 is shit.
Divinity 2 is okay... It's one of the okayest games to ever okay. Doesn't make it shit.
I'm a lifelong JRPG fan and this is the first CRPG I've tried to get into. I keep having to put the game down because some bullshit will happen that was literally impossible to predict and wipe out my party, forcing me to reload. It feels like fights aren't intended to be beaten on the first try, which just leads to savescumming, and everything I've looked up related to the game's difficulty just says "be sure to quicksave often :)". Is that just what CRPGs are like? Savescumming bullshit fests with no logic to them whatsoever?
Skill issue, shouldn't have rotted your brain with jarpigs. Not that DOS is any good, mind you.
Retroactively mogged by multiple boomer games.
The game is piss easy, even on tactical.
It's not even a real crpg because it has no ruleset.
I didn't like the armor system, it felt like the game was forcing me to make a full physical damage party.
While it's probably possible to beat it with a mixed party, it still felt like shit, and it stopped me from having, let's say, 3 physical and 1 magical since the magical one would be completely fricking useless.
>Shame the writing, plot, and world are kinda ass.
Nah, you're just a homosexual. The writing, the world and the plot are all fine.
> the best turn based combat in an RPG ever made
*ahem*
