these games were meant to make the SNES look more capable in its final years, but they end up highlighting its limitations.
You'll rarely see more than 2-3 fully animated enemies on screen at a time, and they're usually doubles of the same guy. Get a third big walking dude on screen and you may notice the game running slower. This is why i mostly play 21rd century 2D platformers.

ok
There's only so much one can do with a 2.68 mhz CPU and 16 kbs sprites memory. Donkey Kong used prerendered graphics to trick people into thinking something impressive was happening, but there's nothing impressive about it, and any console can use prerendered graphics in a similar way. Aside from that, these are just very middling platform games, with the usual SNES flaws of struggling with performance and not being capable for having enough action on the screen to remain interesting. I have never understood how anybody was convinced this was impressive in any way.
i was wowed by the lighting tricks that wouldn't have been possible on other consoles
>lighting tricks that wouldn't have been possible on other consoles
You may want to reassess that.
Stop using good games for your shitposting, auster. You don't even like video games.
>30FPS
30 FPS with a ton of action, particles, and cool effects, beats 60 FPS with a max of 2 simultaneous enemies before it begins slowing and screeching to a halt.
THREETIMES-kun?
Well, the important thing is that something good is actually bad, and that you are superior to it
You've been brainwashed and you're complacent with that. Play some real 16-bit games.
>Play some real 16-bit games.
cycle through the snes library some time, there really aren't that many great pure platformers.
It won't work. And you know it, deep down
donkey kong does not occupy the level of importance for it to involve feeling 'deep down' you fricking dork.

There aren't. By "real 16-bit games" I meant on other hardwares that aren't the SNES.
you should try playing non-nintendo consoles, that's where the real games are
Can you recommend some that demonstrate Genesis doing what Nintendoesn't?
The Adventures of Batman and Robin has better and more impressive effects, far more action, and is a far more challenging and compelling game. See also, Alien Soldier, though you can't really go wrong with any of Treasure's titles, or the Vectorman games. The plodding and slow nature of Donkey Kong will feel like previous generation games by comparison.
>21rd
srry i meant 21th
with all that limitation, they still made one of the best trilogies of all time, talked about decades after their release.
what 21st century 2d platfrmers do you play so we can compare?
why are g*mers addicted to constantly saying "of all time"?
The greatest achievement for dkc was getting a tile based system to display convincing 3d rendered environments, it's a good artistic accomplishment. None of the games are particularly great especially 3 which isn't remotely fun.
I think they're really fun platformers. 1 especially which is more about straight obstacle course platforming. Incredibly nice gameplay flow.
Never liked these, they were always just a weird tech demo that looked awful, with really shitty gameplay.
Well this was a really sad, short console war thread with half the posts being samegay.
Based Super Nintendo living inside of his mind rent free forever.
ya'll fell for bait
