Monkey's paw will give you a demake of 1. Then of 3.
At least a DMC remake would mean more proper DMC gameplay instead of some wannabe Genshin shit
I would rather we get nothing than DMC banished to remake purgatory. Its not like RE where new games and remakes would come out close to each other. Remakes for DMC would mean nothing new until the next decade.
Remakes of 1 and 2 would be pretty cool tbf
>b-b-but why would they do a remake of 2
Because it's complete shit that's why
No one would buy a 2 remake because 2 was that bad
A remake of 2 would be too much of an undertaking that simply making a new entry will be a better use of talent and resources. Frick remakes, give us new experiences. If you're too casual to enjoy 1 then you're not a fan in the first place.
I say, make a DMC 1 remake and add DMC2 as a short DLC campaign with extra bosses and weapons. It's set just a few years after 2, afterall.
The worst part is the mobile game and Netflix show will be shit, and unfortunately there will be moronic secondaries defending them like their opinion has merit. I'm not looking forward to Adi's shit tier cartoon being included in thread discussions.
I don't care if people like the show or not, what I don't like is that the show is gonna have a new canon and people who start with the show is gonna view that as the "offical canon" and project it onto the games, like what happened with Castlevania
I'm not concerned about people on Ganker projecting the cartoon onto the games, that will more or less be what happens to the majority of other sites online though so discussion will pretty much be a shitfest there. I think we're going to get either a worse version of discussion taint like when it became popular to pretend DmC was good or threads filled to the brim with election tourists posting image spam of black Trish or Lady or something equally shitty that kills thread discussion, Castlevania fans have to deal with it because that shit fricking show causes entire threads to be derailed due to culture war bullshit or Alucard ass rape posts, and those types of things are Netflix's M.O., so I would be mentally prepared for that since DMC and CV kind of have a similar track record of getting rebooted and dying and then getting ass shows years later. Only difference is we at least got the reboot reversed, but you can see the future of thread discussion a little bit if you look at CV threads.
1 game every decade isn't that bad
Probably because Itsuno couldn't find a worthy successor to pass off heading the franchise so your best bet is that he'll work on 6 after DD2 is finished and not on another game. Capcom hire me
We know he's working on a Final Fight remake after DD2 but it's apparently a smaller scale project so maybe it'll only be 10 years before DMC6 instead of 20
The guy who did DMC5SE might be worthy.
How fricking hard can it be to make a new DMC when DMC5 already laid like 90% of the groundwork? Christ just take the 5 engine and make a DMC business sim where you take hunting jobs, get money and decorate Dante's office with devil arms and demon artifacts and shit. Capcom hire me
They probably want a good story first.
Capcom always comes up with the gameplay for DMC first and then the story afterwards, Devil Breakers and V were first concieved of as gameplay systems and then they wrote the story to fit them.
tbh DMC is good because the games are crafted to be fun I don't want to see a million DMC games shat out in a five year period because they said frick it let's just rush to grab more money, the gacha is already way paat pushing it.
Good luck justifying the productions costs and pulling members off of other products to develop it. 5 only got the (relatively low) budget and members it did because Itsuno is a tenured employee and he leveraged personal connections he'd made over decades, even pulling in people that had quit Capcom 10+ years ago.
>Good luck justifying the productions costs and pulling members off of other products to develop it
Cost and production clearly isn't a problem for DMC since it technically gets "new stuff" constantly, it's more that nobody apart from Itsuno seems either willing or talented enough to make more.
Licensing the IP out for some bumfrick Taiwanese company to make a phone game or for some artist to create stickers is a lot different to creating a game in-house.
DMC5 couldn't even get DLC despite the director and producer outright expressing the desire for it because the higher ups didn't approve. 5SE only got made to shill new gen consoles and even then its budget was so hilariously low that they couldn't even afford to make the new cutscenes in-engine.
>even then its budget was so hilariously low that they couldn't even afford to make the new cutscenes in-engine.
Not only that: They robbed us of Lady and Trish again. They were fricking fun in DMC4SE.
Matt Walker also said in a stream that they wanted to have a Nero boss for Vergil too but they didn't have the budget to make it work.
Man Capcom could have gotten a ton of money from me but they just decided to frick it up. I would have paid upwards of $15 for Trish alone.
>DMC5 couldn't even get DLC despite the director and producer outright expressing the desire for it because the higher ups didn't approve. 5SE only got made to shill new gen consoles and even then its budget was so hilariously low that they couldn't even afford to make the new cutscenes in-engine.
It's been proven time and time again that DLC for singleplayer games is a bad investment, most people just play DMC like any other game and move on. This is why Sony started doing lower budget 1.5 sequels for their games instead. which imo Capcom should be doing with DMC as well
The DLC just needs to be big enough. See: Phantom Liberty.
>The DLC just needs to be big enough. See: Phantom Liberty.
Phantom Liberty is a perfect example of exactly why most companies don't bother. It had a budget of 85 million dollars which is more than a lot of AAA games and it sold 4.3 million copies. Less than 1/5'th of the base game. CDPR did it because they needed to restore trust after the shape CP launched in
>It had a budget of 85 million dollars which is more than a lot of AAA games and it sold 4.3 million copies.
In other words, it made a profit.
>In other words, it made a profit.
Yeah, but a new Witcher game would probably have made an even bigger profit. Which was my point. CDPR even came out and said that there would be no more expansions for the game after PL because putting that effort into Cyberpunk 2 is just smarter business
CDPR promised multiple DLCs before release. They even promised the first expansion to be free with CP77 special edition of Xbone X console, and the DLC wasn't even released for Xbone X.
The smarter idea would be New Vegas like standalone expansion. Graphics reached the point where it's not necessary to keep remaking similar assets just to justify making a numbered sequel.
well then maybe they should've added bloody palace and divergence coop to increase the game's longevity
ehh it depends on the kind of game really. generally there are two kinds: the one-and-done "experience" games, and the games where expect people to replay it a gorillion times
that is to say, the former applies to your example with Sony's 1.5 sequels since they excel in making these kind of movie games. the latter however, imo benefit more from a DLC than an interquel so that they can have more time to work on a proper sequel later down the line.
Doesn't DMC regularly sell like fricking hot cakes? Why always the fricking pushback to make another?
Every DMC has sold enough to be profitable but none have sold mega gangbuster numbers.
5 comes the closest, with it selling massively well relative to its budget, but even then it only sold on the level of a middling RE title.
It also has a history of critically bombing every time someone new tries to take up the reigns. It's just not worth the gamble to the big wigs upstairs. Not to mention all the ~~*market research*~~ they love showing that the hypothetical budget and staff of a new mainline DMC would be put to better use on a brand new IP rather than the 6th entry in a franchise.
Businessmen truly are braindead kek
DMC is the distant 4th after the big 3 of RE/SF/MH.
IIRC Dead Rising was in that spot for some time as well and it's pretty fricking dead
>DMC is the distant 4th after the big 3 of RE/SF/MH.
DMC is basically toe to toe with SF in terms of sales now,. It's RE and MH that sell +10 million, and then you have DMC and SF about 5 - 8 million
there's also a question where the frick do you even go character mechanic wise, 5 Dante is so fricking loaded I'm surprised there's even motherfrickers modding Dante to give him even more skills
You expand on his summon sword and Sin DT, and give him a different set of weapons.
Vergil and Nero are where the big changes will happen. Dante can get some new Sin DT stuff but the focus will be on new weapons.
Itsuno's such a fricking autist we probably still won't get switching devil breakers in 6
He shouldn't. All his buttons are taken up with other things so that leaves only the D-pad. I want that for switching to bringer armwings, other weapons potentially.
they didn't give him breaker switching to differentiate him from dante, if they stick to that mentality what makes you they'll give him weapon switching?
Nero was meant to have Yamato in 4 and Cavalierre in 5 but he lost out both times. Breaker switching takes away from the risk/reward approach to the system as well as eliminating that feeling of prep and tactics on higher difficulties. They should probably do more of that type of thing to really sell that gambling and reckless aspect of Nero. Which is why there should be stealing enemy weapons ala Bayonetta.
>risk/reward approach to the system
see pic
>Nero was meant to have Yamato in 4 and Cavalierre in 5 but he lost out both times.
Never heard about the cavaliere thing but if I was to bet it's because they still decided to have Nero be different than Dante and "beginner friendly"
shit, here's the pic
That's actually a cool idea, I approve. I also don't mind the idea of magazine flipping so you can switch to the last breaker and go backwards.
DMC has an odd history.
>DMC1 was one of many RE4 prototypes but one of the few to be turned into a full game
>DMC2 was greenlit during 1's development yet the team who made 1 weren't even aware
>DMC2 had some arcade port team working on it
>After two years they had nothing and Itsuno was brought on and given only a few months to fix it
>DMC3 was only made because Itsuno wanted to so he wouldn't go down in history as the guy who made DMC2
>3 is great but doesn't sell very well due to 2 being shit
>3SE a year later, team quickly moves onto 4
>DMC4 is originally a PS3 exclusive but about a year before launch Capcom have them make it multiplat and around this time Capcom is thinking about the Western change up
>4 is a mess due to these changes forced onto the team
>DMC is promptly shuffled off to Ninja Theory to get rebooted
>DmC is poor but sells well yet still below Capcom's stupid expectations
>Itsuno convinces them to let him make 4SE to show that there is still a market for action games
>Off the success of 4SE they let him make DMC5 but not without him threatening to leave first
>5 sells very well and is critically acclaimed but Capcom immediately move most of the team to new projects, no DLC planned at all
>They begrudgingly green light 5SE but due to Covid and budget its quite a small project and only targeted next-gen consoles so PC players got shafted
>Nothing DMC since other than some mobile game and a trash anime in the works
>trash anime in the works
I know DMC isn't Itsuno's baby but the man has to have some pride in not seeing his fricking work get homosexualized.
Jesus why does all the anime need to get homosexualized?
For both better and worse, mainline DMC is directly tied to Itsuno as a director and he has other plans. Every attempt to hand it off to someone else has bombed horribly and seemingly no one is even interested in taking a crack at it.
Looking back, it's happened to a lot of Capcom franchises. IPs that are strongly tied to their creators going to a new team and flopping hard or just fading out as their creator focuses elswhere.
>DMC Fortnite collab
About fricking time will probably play with my nephew then
Let them finish Monster Hunter and Dragons Dogma first. And then maybe 8 more REmakes.
Was the DMC Final Fantasy any good? It came out and nobody even noticed.
People say it is like Wo Long or some shit.
no dude that's stranger of paradise that's like nioh (same devs)
>DMC Final Fantasy
Do you mean FFXVI? I'm under the impression mechanically it's nothing like DMC.
>can we get an actual proper new game as well?
no because you're Mega Man tier. You are successful but you are not Monster Hunter or Street Fighter tier. You will be waiting 10 years for games due to current standing.
I really hope that Netflix show isn't immensely terrible. Not gonna watch it though.
Just by the fact that it's Netflix and Adi is working on it to any degree tells me all I need to know.
>western
>netflix
abandon all hope, but it's netflix so there will be normalgays that give it views
GAY DANTE GETS HIS ASS PLOWED BY SPARDA WHO HAD GAY FEELING FOR DANTE'S FATHER!
>Dante's 1 use of Devil trigger is shows only a few frames of transformation before cutting away to him winning
Why did the show shy away from him using DT?
>Why did the show shy away from him using DT?
Because it was clearly cheap as frick and they didn't have the budget on flashy animation. Same reason most of the action is short or they cut away from showing what's happening
Show was so low budget Reuben was only able to do one take for all of Dante's lines.
To be fair, that's the dubbing company being so low budget they shut down in the middle of recording. Entirely separate to the animation studio having a low budget.
That's a good point, but I guess you could say low budget was the theme of the creation process, hell a lot of episodes of the show were about Dante being poor.
Lady spinoff with RE6 gameplay. Yes or no?
No
Definite yes.
5SE is still not on PC.
Do you plan on playing vanilla Dragon's Dogma 2 or wait for enhanced re-release, since Itsuno doesn't seem to like DLC and would rather you buy the game the second time.
>5SE is still not on PC.
? its on pc
Time traveler?
alright maybe im missing the joke or im regarded here, but isnt dmc5se just Vergil and some extra dlcs? in which the deluxe edition has all of them?
5SE has LDK, Turbo and raytracing.
The raytracing gets turn off in LDK and ruins framerate. idk if it's just shit optimization or PS5 power is a meme
whats the difference lol wtf just use sssiyan's trainer and problem solved. deluxe edition is pretty much the same shit
I don't care about your cope, Capcom treated me like shit with 5SE.
Also it has yet to sell 1 million copies. For some reason Capcom decided to be completely backwards with 5SE and it's likely they'll do the same with DD2.
what cope are u talking about homie lmao sssiyan literally has both LDK and Turbo mode and like 30 other options, not sure about ray tracing but who cares about it. there is a barely any difference on special edition and deluxe edition, not only that but u can mod pc version and add a bunch of other cool shit like dark slayer mod for dante
>DMC2 remake
would you play it?
I already did. It was called Devil May Cry™ 3: Dante's Awakening.
>>DMC Fortnite collab
Knowing people want more dmc after 5 has made me hate video games more than anything else in the last 20 years. I hope you get your disgusting shit demakes and sequels just so I can watch you eat it with glee.
autism
>"Dante was actually gay this whole time"
>new badass black woman devil hunter they swear up and down is not going to upstage every previous character up until she beats Vergil and Dante tells her she's the better fighter
>somehow Japan gets ahold of Debra Wilson and she's Morrison's wife now
DMC5 SE is still exclusive to consoles
You're really not missing out on anything with DMC5SE, turbo and LDK can be modded into DMC5 PC and the ray tracing is incredibly underwhelming. DMC5 is still vastly superior due to modding.
I was dreaming
I saw the potential. The very lightning in a bottle. A fleeting, whisp that would require ambition that souls today couldn't grasp.
And worse is I know, at some point in history, it could have been done well.
Live Action DMC
if they make a new game I hope they make nero optional, I only ever play dante because it's kino
>DMC Fortnite collab
Dmcbros keep winning
How's the mobile game?
