I remember as a kid being really excited for this game after playing the first one. When I played it, I immediately recognized it as shit. It was worse than 1 in every way. It's pretty rare for me to find a game bad when I was a kid since I would just play anything and enjoy it.

I still played through the game past DMD, but DMC2 was almost nothing like what fans were expecting in a sequel. It was a disappointment to basically everyone. It was also too easy.
