Is this worth getting if I've never played a DMC game before? Will I have no idea what's going on?
I liked Dragon's Dogma and this is apparently the same director, so I think I'd enjoy the gameplay at least.

it plays nothing like dragon's dogma.
the combat complexity/speed can be compared to god hand or nioh.
you want to be able to do 4 inputs per second to be good at it.
Ok, that's all sounds good, but will I have any idea what's going on?
I've only watched the anime.
There is a optional "history of dmc" in the game that gives you a quick recap of the past games. Plus, lore isn't really that in-depth, its just a half-demon/humans hunters that get rid of demons. I think you will be fine.
If you don't feel confident, you could play DMC3, and maybe 1&4 if you want.
>There is a optional "history of dmc" in the game
Neat, thanks.
You're welcome. I hope you find the game fun OP
story is secondary in DMC, it's like doom, it's there, it's fun but ultimately who gives a shit it's all about the gameplay
Why are you such a psued?
It plays nothing like Dragon's Dogma so don't bother.
the onlything i know about dmc is vergil is super cool
it's really fun. the story is fine for beginners too.
Yes
Absolutely yes. It's a high speed blast all the way through and you don't need to know the story to go cuhrayzee.
Ive been playing all the games (besides 2) nonstop, and Im having so much fricking fun with DMCV its crazy. This the movement I've always dreamed of, even now that Im used to DMC 1 and 3 balls ass shit platforming and dodging.
Is it just me though or are S ranks a little too easy to hit, I feel like Im S ranking so much more than ever. Maybe its the omission of clear time.
5 is a fine entry point but you will be missing out on story things and gameplay stuff. I always say to try and play a series in release order. Seeing the gameplay, graphics, camera and systems evolve is rewarding. If you like 5 and decide to play the earlier ones you might not enjoy them as much.
They trimmed the fat with S ranks. Now there is only a few missions that are hard to S due to the weird calculating of style.
>I always say to try and play a series in release order.
This is really bad advice for people that want to get into Final Fantasy.
DMC5 just handles S ranks different than the rest of the series does. You you see S scores more as a measure of success than a sign that you reached the skill ceiling; when you look at the actual scores, an S score only requires about 1/3 of the maximum score possible in a mission, so the difference between people who can play the game perfectly and not is massive. Similarly, with the way scoring works DMC5 is asking you to be at SSS rank at every moment possible, rather than only occasionally like in the other games.
This thread is a joke. Cuhrayzeegays can't even gatekeep because they have no standards.
Dragon Dogma gays are as bad as Soulstards; I'm shocked that no one here tried to gatekeep the moron OP
It's too late, Anons, I've already CONSOOMED.
You have to play 1 and 3 first.
Ok, I got Devil May Cry 5 Deluxe + Vergil.
Don't forget to bey the alt colors for Dante, Nero and the girls, those aren't included. Also there's a free arm DLC.
i would play the previous games eventually anyways. just go 1-4. 2 sucks but, real dmc fans play dmc2 and watch the anime
Contrary to what everyone said on this thread, I believe you shouldn't touch DMCV if your reason is "same director as Dragon's Dogma".
It's not just, as everyone said, the fact that both games are nothing alike from a gameplay standpoint. It's the fact that even when it's a 2019 game DMCV is still a game designed with PS2 sensibilities so you will find it shallow and monotonous.
There is no open world, hub cities, npcs with dialog trees, sidequests, multiple endings (please don't bring out the secret "defeat Urizen early" ending, you know very well it's not what I'm talking about): the DMC games are all about going through corridors and killing enemies, as stylishly as your skill allows you. Maybe doing some light platforming but that's it. All the game is about is fighting enemies and bosses and nothing more.
If you're the kind of person who has Dragon's Dogma close to his heart, I guarantee you will hate DMCV.
I own both and like both lmfao. You're moronic.
You're lying because you want to trick OP into playing a game he won't like.
Now I'm sure you will hate DMC.
Gameplay-wise DMC is deeper than Dynasty Warriors while being shallower than Dragon's Dogma, which means you're getting the worst of two worlds: a game without content compared to Dragon's Dogma but at the same not mindless enough to allow you to just relax mashing through hundreds of enemies (to be fair DMCV can be played by mashing but it's against the way the game is designed).
They're very different on scope and intent and you know it.
You're actually moronic. I am sure you have "gender dysphoria" too, and occasionally slash at your penis, and writs with bic razor blades.
35 hours on Dragon's Dogma is nothing.
What this image tells me is that you already were a DMC fan, probably even played the first three games on your PS2, so DMCV is exactly what you wanted. You just happened to like Dragon's Dogma to some stend but that's it.
OP is different; it's a Dragon's Dogma fan. As someone already said, they're similar to Dark Souls fans so recommending them a non-Dragon's Dogma game is a waste of time.
>What this image tells me is that you already were a DMC fan, probably even played the first three games on your PS2, so DMCV is exactly what you wanted. You just happened to like Dragon's Dogma to some stend but that's it.
Wow I'd say you're a psuedo intellectual since you make stupid fricking assumptions. I owned the game on PS3, and have played it dozens of times.
So I was right about you being a DMC fan first and foremost.
Still, OP already bought the game so any efforts on my part to make him reconsider are moot. Don't blame me when he becomes another Barry after he plays the game and hates the frick out of it.
>So I was right about you being a DMC fan first and foremost.
Holy shit you're actually fricking braindead. No shit someone would play Devil May Cry before Dragon's Dogma, DMC was already around before DD, what is this moronic bait? What shade of sub saharan darkie-ism are you operating on?
>. No shit someone would play Devil May Cry before Dragon's Dogma
What about OP then?
That's exactly my point: someone who already played DMC and liked it would enjoy 5; meanwhile someone who never touched a DMC game before and only want to do it due to Dragon's Dogma won't like DMC in the slightest.
Really simple moron if he wants a roleplaying game he can play Dragon's Dogma if he wants an action game he can go play DMCV. They're both excellent games from Itsuno, and you will never be attractive, or become close to what is considered "feminine", and "girly" you anus gaping homosexual. Your "point' was poorly delivered, probably because your dumb darkie gorilla looking mother dropped you on your dumb chimp skull after she shat you out.
>Really simple moron if he wants a roleplaying game he can play Dragon's Dogma if he wants an action game he can go play DMCV.
Except he expects DMCV to be similar to Dragon's Dogma due to sharing the same director, when DMCV is a very different, "shallower" game.
It's like expecting a Dark Souls fan to like Armored Core just because both series were made by From Software. You know that the Souls fan will drop any AC game after 30 minutes.
Nobody cares you fricking moron it's as simple as
>Roleplaying game with poor action
or
>Action game with shit immersion/sim
I own all the souls games, and several armored core games. I have Last Raven, Nine-Breaker, Silent Line, and 3. You are so far from reality. Keep projecting your autistic delusions though.
You're just proving my point again and again.
You like those PS2-era games because you played them at the time. Someone who started playing during the late 2000 and early 2010 and whose formative games were Dark Souls or Dragon's Dogma will only see series like DMC or AC (both the plane and robot one) with repugnance.
you are a fricking moron burdened by the sins of your mother drinking and smoking while you were in the womb
>so you will find it shallow and monotonous
I like Dynasty Warriors if it's at all like that.
not that fricking moron you're replying to but if I had to describe DMC to someone who has never played it I'd describe it as a Tony Hawk of hack n slash's and it's not necessarily a musou unless you're playing on LDK mode.
Calling DMC Tony Hawk adjacent is just plain moronic. A game about going fast, routing multiple objectives on a 2 minute timer.........vs mindless combos to make the style meter happy.........get outta here dude. Really.
Nah you're plain moronic, probably fat, and gay. They're both games that emphasize pulling off insane tricks for higher scorings. You're cruising off an IQ of 90, or less.
DMC is not about traversing the levels at high speeds. You lost chud. You don't play Tony Hawk.
You have never played a pro skater game you stupid fricking troony.
>le about traversing at high speeds
lmfao NO delusional troon.
Too bad DMC doesn't have rail grinding. Honestly would be dope. But then you'd have to stop and beat on sandbags for 5 minutes.
Too bad suicide rates for le trans folks is only 50% here's hoping we can raise the bar to 100%
Too bad about the the is and can is a bird and on the tree ate shampoo in a sushi bar.
>All the game is about is fighting enemies and bosses and nothing more.
>If you're the kind of person who has Dragon's Dogma close to his heart, I guarantee you will hate DMCV
But... that's exactly what DD is about too.
>Not gatekeeping a game you like from an ARPG moron
Enjoy you new "shit games Ganker tricked you into playing - featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series" threads, I guess
Well youu see............i'm a cultivated feller who only likes 1 and DmC.........................and well.......I say let this rotten fanbase burn...........it's just....not my problem.......you see....
>Kamiyacuck and Tameme apologist
lol
That's gosh dang heckin right. I'm am your worst nightmare. Don't F**** mess with us.
yes. game is fun
The story might be a little underwhelming, it's not great even if you've played all the other ones but without any knowledge of or attachment to any of the characters it will feel even less so, but it will still be fun to play.
DMCV ruined the series
99.99 % of people in dmc threads do not know what they are talking about
all devil may cry games have shit story that very few people care about
same director in this case is not a good indication that youll like it, just look at some gameplay on youtube and see if it looks like fun to you
Fun game and the coop mod kicks ass if you can rope a friend or 2 in
I would highly recommend playing 3 first.
Not because you can't enjoy 5 without it but because starting with 3 is an amazing experience.
If you want to play 5 real hard - go for it, it's an amazing game.
If you can wait a bit - play 3 and 4 first (even the easiest difficulty will do). People say DMC's story doesn't matter but the reality is it's the story (and the cutscenes) that tends to hook the people at first. The gameplay grows on you a bit later.
game sucks
play dmc 3 or 4
>4
the only people who think 4 is good didn't even play and just watch donguri vids
even the fricking reboot is better than 4, dantes weapons are trash
The only people who think 4 is bad are mindless parrots incapable of forming their own opinion and just inheriting the latest youtube/4chin trend as one instead.
They also evidently and provably never know what they are talking about.
>Is this worth getting if I've never played a DMC game before?
The game is basically just pure fanservice for those who played the previous games.
>Will I have no idea what's going on?
You have a brief "history of dmc" video in the title but you won't understand much.
DMC3 is the best starting point, grab the HD collection on Steam, it's cheap as frick and play through 3.
If you didn't get filtered, play 1, then play 4 and now you finally play 5 and get every single reference and haha moment that amounts to an amazing 6.5/10 experience.
Nah
The only reason to play DMC5 is for the continuation of the story, the gameplay itself is less fun than prior games, particularly 1 and 4. Play the whole series or don't bother at all (you can skip 2).
dmc 3 is the best one
