You are correct, but its a finnicky chain of events so its easy to mess something up if you dont take enough long rests after she joins your camp and you just keep exploring.
If the even progresses properly she will feed you the cat, remember that she was gonna help with the meals and then leave with a kidnapee.
If she leaves before the cat thing the cat will just stay in the camp with that frightened line if you talk to it.

I would say you're right, they should have fleshed out Act 2 more, like Act 1 and sell Baldur's Gate 3 like that and work on a big DLC/Expansion or Baldur's Gate 4.

if they manage to flesh out act 3, and actually rewrite the story beats and put in the cut content like the upper city and the rest of the lower city then i'll be happy with the definitive edition.

ngl i liked act 2 a lot more than act 1. Act 1 was a lot of boring wilderness areas whereas the shadow cursed lands were literally like a survival horror game

          Anonymous

Yes Act 2 is amazing but it feels "empty" compared to the first act. You have last light and well almost nothing happens there, you have moonrise tower and it's a dungeon because they do not really give quests to you, you can only genocide them all one way or another even if you follow the balthazar's route. And the rest is just killing things/shock factors. All those abominations with the Thorm lastname are fun to encounter and kill but that's just that... you meet and kill. Oh and of course the big Shar dungeon.

they did clearly say that Act 1 was like 1/5 of the whole game, which clearly wasn't true. Even if it was 1/3 that still wouldn't be true. The quality really, really drops off. Act 2 was extremely boring and Act 3 had barely anything in it.

        Anonymous

Actually, it's really not, I certainly wouldn't ever use "massive" to describe it. The main map in act 1 is rather small and everything is simply jam-packed in it like a Japanese train on Monday morning (which is also arguably a bad design, not to mention that it makes goblin/druid conflict pants on head moronic because they're half a minute from each other). The difference is that it has optional areas unlike the others.

It is breadth-wise perhaps too compact. But when you consider how much height graduation there is, and how much it twists in on itself, it is pretty large and takes a while to traverse.
It reminds me of Dark Souls in that spatially most areas didn't cover a lot of ground, but feel large because of how labyrinthine they are.

I think the scale of the map is gamified, otherwise there is no way the drider patrol missed the last light inn while it wanders around in act 2. Not to mention isobel said that she got far enough away from ketheric and found the inn to be safe

I'd say Quarterstaffs kind of suck in this game, there's a real drought of good staves for spellcasters until the endgame, you're likely to be using Mystra's staff for most of it, maybe the very rare in the underdark if you went for cold damage.

        Anonymous

The underdark one is the combine one right? Just gives you ice beam and that's kinda shit anyway

The underdark staff is more of a monk weapon

          Anonymous

You only use it if you're going all in with cold damage attacks, because it makes all your cold damage have a chance to make enemies vulnerable to cold damage for double damage.
Then there's another item that makes cold attacks have a chance to inflict encrusted in ice which was a pseudo stun if I recall correctly?
Throw in the DC boosting equipment and stat drain with spells equipment and it should let you have a chance of massive battlefield control + nuking potential.

but around half the quarterstaffs in Act 1-2 are for monks so that's garbage.

        Anonymous

Act 1 has a stupid broken staff that gives lightning charges every time a spell deals damage. Act 2 has a staff that lets you cast fireball and has some decent bonuses.

My biggest issue with Act 3 items is many of them just don't fricking work or are very poorly designed. You can get gloves that let you select two targets when you cast a cantrip except they don't actually let you select two targets and it will just hit another random nearby target (including allies), best part is you can only do this once per rest so it's complete garbage. If it worked properly you could have a cool build but nope, it's just a dogshit item. Very limited caster gloves in general.

I fricking hate the once per shortrest shit and i FRICKING HATE concentration rules, DnD is such garbage

            Anonymous

Concentration is literally broken in the current build because you need to roll concentration checks for every damage instance, so if you get stabbed by a dagger that deals 1d4 fire damage you need to roll twice. You can also just get a critical fail even with +12 con saves or something which is dogshit. Once per short rest items are sort of fine (but there really needs to be a quick-swap option for when you have 3+ necklaces that let you cast a spell once etc.) but once per long-rest shit just doesn't work for this game because taking a long rest takes fricking forever.
            >Go to camp
            >Get some random cutscenes
            >Select food
            >More random cutscenes
            >Recast buffs like longstrider and speak to animals
It's all just a tedious chore to get your spells back. Meanwhile just roll fighter and all your shit comes back on short rest.

The only caster gear that was worth a shit was gear that increase your spell save dc

Well yeah but that's partly because pretty much every single piece of caster gear that does something else is bugged in some way.
            >Apply reverberation when you inflict holy damage
            >Inflict holy damage when you dodge
            >NOPE.JPG doesn't fricking work
            >Ok so you used two items to apply reverberation now use a thunder spell to MAYBE inflict DAZED for a turn if they fail the save most enemies have strong bonuses for! WOWOWOW
            Frick off.

I fricking hate the once per shortrest shit and i FRICKING HATE concentration rules, DnD is such garbage

the buffing shit is tedious but some concentration abilities are so braindead OP like wall of fire or haste that they just break the game.

              >wall of fire from a wizard so your team takes no dmg but enemy rolls 10-70 every turn
              >cast wall of fire on a cleric and sanctuary yourself = uninterruptable wall of fire while you spam glyphs that do 40 AoE dmg per turn being invulrenable

                Anonymous

they are moronic and made so DnD babbies don't get scared of buffs, because DnD is tabletop RPGs for normalgays and morons

                Anonymous

That's partly due to sanctuary being bugged (just doesn't remove on some effects, you can just straight up cast wall of fire while sanctuary is active and it stays up) and wall of fire AOE being larger that it should be and confusing NPCs so they just sit in the aoe and take the damage. It also doesn't trigger damage instances when it should, often having double the damage instances it should have, and NPCs will walk back and forth into the wall getting hit every time.

I'm fine with enemies having the means to break concentration, either with spells like sleetstorm or special arrows or something, but just basic (trivial) damage breaking concentration is moronic. Taking 1 damage from a burning DoT effect breaking concentration is just fricking terrible design when your character has +12con and 133 health.

                Anonymous

you need to just have war caster + max proficiency for anyone that uses concentration and isn't permanently in sanctuary, or alternatively have like 27 AC and permanently get counterspell for anything targeting you... my fighter was doing most of the work while my 3 party members sat in sanctuary concentrating on random shit that didn't break the sanctuary buff, easy game

i didnt get a single specific act 3 bug, all quests were playable and completable however many of them felt out of place and same-y.
Its by a mile the weakest act: it however features the single best moment of the game and a couple nice fights.
Now im treating the "final boss battles" as something different beyond act 3, im just measuring act 3 until the point of no return.
The final boss section and the epilogue were extremely weak, so if you add that to the act 3 it makes for a very underwhelming final leg of the game, which is fairly common in crpgs but even more so in Larian games

            - Somebody clearly confused "more of everything" and "more epic" with quality.
            - As a result the whole thing lacks focus and feels like a messy capeshit fanfic and not a level 1-12 adventure. FFS, Act II boss is an avatar of Myrkul. Short timespan of the adventure makes it even more ridiculous.
            - If themes in this overbloated mess are explored, they often are undermined by awful writing.
Example 1 - Player character (optionally) turning into a good illithid, with a possibility of "I'm just the good old me!" roleplay ruins the alien horror of illithids. So does a shirtless illithid trying to seduce me, but at least it's an another type of horror.
Example 2 - Karlach's background makes hell sound like an alright place, because apparently you can survive it without a serious trauma (for 10 years!). All you need is a good attitude and some luv of fightin'.

            - Three initial companions have "I was super cool and strong but now I'm weak again" background. Again, somebody on the team truly believes more "epic" means better. It's pointless. Embarrassing. They don't really do anything interesting with it.
            - Some of these backgrounds could be a hook for a short module. Again, it adds even more to the overall mess. Shove more shit. Don't explore it properly.
            - Companions are made worse because of bad design, bugs and cut content. Romances activating by having casual conversations, Gale talking about your night together that never took place, etc.

            - Incoherence possibly caused by rewrites, mostly relating to Guardian, Emperor, tadpoles in general.
            - Tadpole powers, lol. Also, this whole gimmick doesn't influence the story at all.
            - Some stuff just makes zero sense and contradicts points made by the game earlier. Emperor has no reason to join the brain if you free Orpheus, it's a guaranteed slavery for him, he should just leave. Again, maybe a rewrite issue?

            - Some pointless profanation of classic characters. Sarevok being a flat caricature of a bhaal cultist.

The Hells aren't that terrible. They're still societies that function in some manner, like any other.
They aren't good, but most of BG3/most DnD worlds are pretty terrible for everyone.
The Gith are worse off than the demons for sure.

something can be flawed and still be the strongest example of its kind
bg3 puts all the crpgs released since the "resurgence" of the genre somewhere in 2015 to shame.
BG2 is still the best game ever released, that hasn't changed but this is a good game, and it will be better if they keep patching shit and hopefully restore whatever cut content is still "restorable".

They will slowly fix and change Act3 until it becomes bg3 "enhanced edition" AKA we actually finished our game.

I can see where Larian writers came from regarding Minthara and pregnancy
Her war-like nature that desires to destroy and control supposed to face the challenge in form of the new life she has to care about
That new responsibilities supposed to challenge her worldview and teach to love life and creation, and hopefully get rid of desire to kill and destroy
it would be pretty kino arc if included in Definitive Edition

It's perfectly finished. The amount of content in act 3 is humongous and dwarfs either of the first two acts. All the quests have definite conclusions. The only thing is missing is like a 15 min ending with a bunch of slides to show the consequences of your choices, but you can watch that on YouTube later.

      Anonymous

The level design in act 3 also fell off. Both goblin camp and gauntlet of shar show that larian is capable of using verticality to design interesting sprawling dungeons, but then they make the act 3 sewers and temple of bhaal completely flat, small and linear. Then you have cazadors palace which is just a final fantasy corridor. Or gortash fight where you can climb a vine on the side of wyrms keep and skip the whole castle. 90% of the time you fight 5 bhaal cultists with the same kit and attack sequence every time. Would it hurt to mix the cultists? Maybe some bane boys could buff the others? Or myrkul necromancers in the backline? And why do you only fight Myrkuls avatar and not Bhaals or Banes? What the frick did they smoke

It's really sad how unfinished act 3 is. Honestly. The game works SO Fricking well at handling almost anything you throw at it up til that point. Then I get to act 3 and figure that maybe we should disguise Astarion when we're checking out Cazador's palace, since they spend all game building up how he broke away and became free and how everyone there would know his face.

I disguise the entire party, walk into one chamber and an NPC greets us with a cutscene where Astarion appears out of disguise and just talks to the guy as if it was no big deal

I mean really, what the frick? I was so let down by that and the firework shop mission. Punch to the gut after 2 great acts of freedom.

there was some cool stuff and definitely some SOVL but it sticks out like a sore thumb when you stray from the path and it just doesn't work like it did in the first 2/3 of the game.

      Anonymous

I don't think disguise had any actual use outside pretending to be a drow in act 1 to get into the goblin camp.

        Anonymous

you can just walk into the goblin camp anon. it does work if you're an enemy of someone, i.e. if you kill a guard teifling then come back, the other guards will agro and you'll get a message saying they're friends and colleagues of the guard you killed. if you come back in a disguise they won't do that.

also for the first 2 acts you can talk to a lot of the corpses but they won't respond to their killer, so you can use a disguise to talk to them with the speak to dead spell

Got all but one to be gith using scrolls, use the teleport rune with the last guy staying human expecting to now have to fight all the guards and they just didn't give a shit past the immediate entrance. Kinda blew my self congratulating thoughts away thinking I'd been a fricking genius Githing about stealing the egg and shit.

Fireworks shop only being resolvabe by blowing up everyone in the building was moronic.

For the rest it's the pacing that sucks. The little grl shenanigans. The 2 chosen remaining not really doing anything. The mystery murders being pushed. And the constant earthquakes giving urgency.

But you're dropped in a huge sandbox of a city and the game insists storywise you rush through it, which is fricking idiotic

        Anonymous

Nah there's a lot of stuff like that. A lot of things you expect to work just don't. Like stealthing into an encounter just to trigger a cutscene that starts the battle off another way. I can't believe they have the street alley with the 2 teifling parents in Lower City with the crying teifkid next to them and you can't speak to dead with either of them. There's no way they'd set something up that deliberately in act 1 or 2 without at least having some dialogue to go through. That's just off the top of my head but there's a lot more. Companions talking about things that haven't happened yet, or things that have happened and have been updated/changed since. Just feels rushed and it stands out twice as bad because of how much they clearly cared about the first 2 acts and put so much time into thinking out whatever you might try to do so they can have an answer for it. That feeling abruptly ends when you leave moonrise.

Nope, game insists Ravenguard is dead for 70% of interactions while suggesting he's alive somewhere in a bunch of other random conversations. We talked to the gnomes about blowing up the foundry and insisted we try and talk things out first but NOPE its blown up now even though it makes no fricking sense to even do that with Gortash dead and Volo is just also randomly tied up to some explosives there and it's all just so fricking random and moronic now.

Yeah another thing that's notable in act 3 is the number of unkillable NPCs. Sometimes it's not so bad like Cazador where you kill him and they do a story thing where he goes back to his casket so you can finish him off in a cutscene, but the one in the Shar house of loss or whatever its called was so jarring to me when I killed the main girl and she was just KO'd and I had to do the rest of the battle with her minions as her being "knocked out". Can't think of a single NPC i couldn't kill in act 1/2 (outside of elminster) but that struck me as really annoying after so much fluidity

You missed the guy in the very first area of act 3, where there are refugee tents and such northeast of your starting location. When you get ~10 feet away from him, he says something like, "Hey Shadowheart, over here!" Talking to him advances the quest. Alternatively, you can directly visit the location the quest happens in (lower city map, look to the northwest).

              Anonymous

I think that just bugged for me as I talked to basically all the random refugees there, all I got running around was my MC randomly throwing a bugged line that is about Shadowheart talking to Dame Aylin. Guess I'll go look in the lower city again but I think I did have an interaction there that bugged out.

I don't get the transition from act 2 to act 3. You follow the army to Baldurs Gate and what just walk past them? You reach the city unopposed by the army that now knows you have the one thing that is a threat to them? The city is full of refugees who have been fleeing the army, the city people are talking about the army at their door step, the circus is named after the invetible end that is coming, but you and your merry band of morons just sauntered on by? All they had to do was some teleporty bullshit and I wouldn't have cared all that much, they do it after boss fights, you just teleport away with a convenient purple vortex that appears for you

yeah that's another thing that doesn't make sense. i let it slide because it's a video game and you can't think to hard about it, especially when up until the end of act 2 most stuff worked relatively seamlessly. but it made no sense if you thought critically for any amount of time. also, if you come across the road to BG at any point before the end of act 2 you're met with a message that says the absolutes legions are already marching on baulders gate an thats what makes the road so dangerous. None of it really makes sense so I was trying to just take enjoyment out of the environmental quests and the stuff local to me over the big picture stuff for a while. But that stopped being a thing in act 3 as well so.

the cult of the absolute and its army are just a means for gortesh to step into power as archduke because the manufactured threat of an invasion created a need for a strongman to rise up, a need which gortash filled

        Anonymous

yes, but whether you're pretending to be a true soul or going kill-on-sight for the absolute, the story doesn't make sense that you simultaneously can't travel the road because of the absolute's army and also finish act 2 and beat them there by apparently weeks since they're still on the march by the time you arrive

maneuvering a large army is slower than a small party of adventurers.

I enjoyed it but it felt pretty sparse in terms of content.
Looking back I think they were really going for each act having a very different feel which is pretty cool
          Wilderness exploration
Dark oppressive hard to navigate area with more enemies than NPCs
City super tightly packed with quests / people to talk to

Really love how much the Baldur's Gate here reminds me of that last section in BG1.

act1 already has the underdark which was like 60% of the total duration since it also includes grymforge, i went thru it and then to act2 where i briefly went back on the surface to check out the mountain pass and the whole underdark->act3 start took me like 5 IRL days of just going thru dark areas... it felt fricking great, probably the best BG3 got for me. just shame the narrative elements in act2 sucked ass. there should've been a way to spare ketheric and make myrkul disavow him somehow

            >maneuvering a large army is slower than a small party of adventurers.
yes but that only goes so far. you can't have them on the road to BG for weeks before you even start, that being the reason you shouldn't travel the roads, to then entering act 3 and being weeks ahead of the front lines still. I like the game and don't even care about that particular point, I don't hold it against them as, again, it's a crazy RPG video game where you expect stuff like that in the main quests (as weird as that sounds) but it still doesn't make sense if you think about it for a few minutes whether you're with or against the absolute.

The pregnant lady's dialogue depends entirely on whether you tell her that her brothers are dead or not. If you don't tell her she's fine with the hag, if her brothers die she isn't.

Better yet you can just knock both brothers out (which is the only way to save them, actually) and literally tell her, specifically, that you knocked them out and she'll still scream and cry about how her brothers are dead.

They will be confronting the hag in human form just outside the swamp the first time you approach it. Most likely. I've come to the conclusion that I might as well finish my good play through then dust the game off next year for my dark urge run after the definitive edition comes out. I feel bad for anyone who played an evil tav since like 20% of the game gets cut with nothing to replace it. All you get is a bugged companion who doesn't react to anything. All the larian talk about making the evil path a valid alternative was poppywiener.

Really love how much the Baldur's Gate here reminds me of that last section in BG1.

after changing up my classes I started to enjoy it more, felt like the rewards for exploring weren't as good. I liked the toll house fight but the doctor was pretty shit. They also had a similar gimmick of using minions just one was attack andd the other was defence focused. My first group of mostly melee trounce the doctor and his nurses quick. Then after reloadin g a save and reclassing them as casters without much AoE spells it became tougher, also had to rebuild all their magic items so it was trial and error at times.

Astarian's approve-Disapprove ratio is completely out of whack compared to literally every other companion.
You can run the whole game with companions disapproving of your actions or being benched and still max them out by endgame, but Astarion requires you to have him in your party 100% of the time and choose ALL his favored options + sex to get decent approval.

Act 3 being in the city feels weird. I made an orc barbarian and act 1, 2 feels really natural but now it's hard to be immersed and roleplay in a civilized locale. Maybe having an outlander background will help but I went with dark urge.

same here, I planned on a wholey evil playthrough so I could enlist Minthara, then I learn I can redeem her away from the absolosers and make her my vengeance wife. Do that then she is silent as the grave about everything going on in act 2, now the goblin butler feller is ahving me murder randomers which she doesn't like because of her retaking her oath. Such is pain being morally gray in D&D, kinda my fault for picking urge tho

NTA but act 3 is prima facie lower quality than everything below it. Same thing happened with Div OS 2. It's a Larian trademark to front loaded the game and half the 2nd half be utter dogshit. You should read up on the drama

beside the shit performance and some obvious side quest padding not really

it's pretty telling when most people complaining about act3 are people who completed it already, massive 150hr+ RPG completed in a week. i'd say 90% of those people just rushed the game in 35 hours and are surprised they got a shallow experience

interesting, I mean I already felt the dip in act 2 but I got the impression from anons that the ending is straight up missing. If it's "technically" complete then whatever, I'll see how bad it is. At this point I'm having more fun in the battles than story content anyway.

            > At this point I'm having more fun in the battles than story content anyway.
i feel like this is a pretty normal take. larian's always had trouble with writing compelling shit but have alright quest designers so when you have a quest with not too many narrative elements, or just a big simple to grasp set up-pay off then it's fine

I think you should at least wait for the next big patch, this patch didn't do too much to fix it. If you are really itching to play feel free to play it, it's still playable and enjoyable, but it's definitely a let down in comparison to Act's 1 and 2.

beside the shit performance and some obvious side quest padding not really

it's pretty telling when most people complaining about act3 are people who completed it already, massive 150hr+ RPG completed in a week. i'd say 90% of those people just rushed the game in 35 hours and are surprised they got a shallow experience

In case that's pointed towards me, we did pretty much all but 3 quests (accidentally locked ourselves out of them). I have 90+ hours in the game, we played and beat it on Tactician. Also we beat it just before the big patch so Orin was a fricking joke.

        [...]
the only fight on tac i've struggled with was the dragon

Dragon isn't too hard if you have summons to take his Wrath attacks, but he's probably the hardest boss in the game for sure since you can't completely cheese him. Others include the big Gob fight (assuming you aren't level 4+) and Raphael (if you don't hold dab on him).

Orin is still a joke after the patch, she has no way to resist something like Hideous Laughter. She might challenge a fighter character or something but even then you have scrolls.

It's the main argument for running as an Assassin Rogue, your actions get topped off at the start of every fight.

Actions can (somewhat legit) get lost by stupid shit like casting guidance in dialogue, which catches a lot of people off-guard when the conversation ends in a fight and they suddenly have no actions for the first round.

how bad are acts 2/3 really compared to 1? I’m getting close to the end of 1 and I’ve seen a shitload of mixed shit on Ganker
Honest question. And to be very clear, I don’t care how “linear” they are. I don’t want more acts as LE BIG as 1 is, it’s taken me a solid chunk of time to get through I just wanna know about quality

      Anonymous

Act 2 is relatively short, and takes place entirely within one map. Act 3 is as long as act 1, but has less variety in "biomes"/scenery than act 1 because it's set entirely in a city. Act 3 severely lacks polish, and has lots of performance issues. Act 2 is fairly dreary, and lacks a lot of NPC interactivity because of the setting (evil place of EEEVIL that kills everyone that isn't in light or protected by powerful magic). Ac 3 is the exact opposite, with way too many NPCs to talk to, most of which have nothing of value to say, and half of the combat encounters are blatantly filler.
      >I don't care how "linear" they are

Act 2 has technically 3 maps but it is more like 2. You get moongleam tower and it's prison basement, which is just and extension of the overworld really, then you get the Shar temple which is very much its own map, just feels like a chore to navigate.

      Anonymous

Best ending currently for her is going back to Avernus with her as romance. Alternatively Wyll going with her.

Squid is debatably the worst aside from her just poofing with zero fanfare if you didn't bother making any attempts at fixing her heart depending on how the whole mind flayer vs soul thing actually works in the setting although there's more leaning toward it to you being fricked over.

        Anonymous

I don't know her biggest fear is going back to hell to be forced to fight, sounds like she would much rather die, so making her live and experience hell again sounds more selfish on the MC's part for forcing her to suffer for you

          Anonymous

She's more open to it when (You) or Wyll offer to go with her. Her biggest issue was she was so lonely in Avernus which wouldn't be as bad with you with her. Plus you can probably figure a way out / find a fix for the engine while there.

            Anonymous

Do you have to romance her to go with her? because i legit believe she is best at a sister role, and i would go to hell with my sister

              Anonymous

Yeah it kinda sucks how it works right now. If you don't romance her then you have to have Wyll go Blade of Avernus (which in itself is currently fricky in how it works)...and even if you DID romance her, Wyll might just override you in that scenario.

They really fricked her, even more upsetting because she is one of the only legit good person companions, and annoying you have to romance to go with her, going to hell to protect your sisterfu/brofu is a kino ending

they cut karlachs quest line because she was tied heavily to the upper city which was also cut and thats where you would go to avernus which is apparently supposed to be a whole zone almost the size of the underdark

Squid is always going to be the worst ending because they have no souls and I don't feel like the story really conveys the implications of that too well because you get 2 mindflayers that are just chill with you

Kinda nuts how few flayers you kill through the game, meet more hivemind escaped squids than aggressive ones until the last battle. They just don't give a shit that one of their giga brains got enslaved?

Honestly it should have just been a super buff for her for one battle. The way she describes them, most players would never use them except for a boss fight. You expect it to combine the effects of Haste, fire shield, and boosting her stats or something.

The soul coins being changed into a Karlach power-up instead of currency for Raphael is so fricked. How am I supposed to picture her using them? All that comes to mind is some tokusatsu shit where she shoves them in a coin slot on her chest.

wow thats frickin garbage. i should just sell them next time they finish her frickin content

      >all it needs to do is scale with her level or progress in the quest w/e
Either way it's free damage until long rest. And if you don't long rest excessively or suck at finding coins there's enough to go around. What's not to like about a bonus 2.5 damage on every swing that no other barbarian gets?

because if you're not a dickass thief, those coins are much more useful early on as vendor trash.

I remade Karlach into a fighter so she could be a polearm master and tavern brawler + retaliate when enemies miss attacks as a reaction. Now all I need is to give her sentinel and she'll completely zone out enemies.
                >returning pike for absurd damage on throws
                >extra reach for pole arm master zoning
                >riposte when enemies attack, heavy armor for good AC Evasive maneuvers to inflict disadvantage if needed.
                >sentinel so she'll attack if anyone else gets attacked, and she destroys whatever action the enemy wanted to do thanks to opportunity attacks now removing their movement.
                >late game she'll have 6 OP throws per short rest.

Why not multiclass so you can enraged throw that spear?

Berserker is just for an early third attack but I prefer the adaptability of the fighter because Maneuvers are so good plus I can stack feats early. Most encounters should end before you get much mileage out of enraged throw.

imma be honest with you chief polearm mastery is kinda overrated. especially on fighter. sentinel will eat up your reaction a lot as is plus you have riposte to consider. also the interaction between polearm mastery + sentinel feats may or may not still be totally bugged

Polearm mastery is just so that Karlach can interrupt enemies that walk into her zone of threat. Sentinel should let her make AoOs with advantage and stop their movement. It has the added bonus of letting her hit people every time they try to attack my other characters. The riposte is there if they try to attack her instead. Basically since she's built to throw her spear, the idea is to use her to roadblock enemies, which is why she has the shoving maneuver as well. The idea is to ensure she's using her reaction to attack every single round.

homie, fighters are the most boring class in the game.

Why, maneuvers are the most fun they mimic spells but also do your full weapon damage which means they're better than the spells they mimic + they reset on short rest.
Being a fighter means you are the swiss army knife for every situation and they have the most build variety which their extra feats.

                >build one as the ultimate archer with dual crossbows
                >another as a perfect zoner with a polearm + sentinal
                >a frontline tank goading enemies to fight them
                >The twohand warrior damage dealer cleaving through enemies with advantage via underdog.

yeah dont know his hate for fighters. they are pretty good clean up/sweepers. though i use barb my first run instead for that just with less turns
                >dual hand crossbow class to just single target elminate
                >ligth cleric, eldritch blast lock with sorcery for aoe
                >karlach just goes in and fricks shit because shes a dumb prostitute with shit endings because larian released unfinished game that made act 3 sucks frick you what a waste of time on a waifu just to get fingered after a date and then frick off to avernus

Honestly 90% of the companion reactions to you choosing this choice sounds like a really shitty first take, but Shadowheart nails it. Too bad the companion that reacts is completely random.
