Do these essay lore tubers make shit up their ass?
Anon, imagine you're a 10 year old kid and told 'write a one page essay' and you just have to extended it by like 10 lines cause you can't think of anything else so you repeat shit earlier in different words
We live in the era trannies get showered with support and kick the chuds out of their platforms. By now the chances she's a XX women are higher, being the type who doesn't want to show her voice and attract unwanted attention
Zullie is good because she uses actual game content and sometimes hidden files to express the main idea, unlike the other "lore" channels which just spew bullshit fanfiction
i think the only zullie videos i've seen had no voice over so wasn't sure if they were actually trans or just the usual Ganker troony obsession. being so fragile you can't sharpen a pencil definitely sounds like something i'd associate with a troony though, especially blaming it on the hardcore manual labor job of grocery store clerk lol
>blaming it on the hardcore manual labor job of grocery store clerk lol
I'm pretty sure Zullie said a pallet of groceries fell on her or something. I know someone who got their foot run over by an electric pallet jack and lost a toe. There are all sorts of ways to get permanently injured at a grocery store. anon.
Zullie and BonfireVN are cool for showcasing 3D models and technical stuff. What I don't like about Zullie is that >she writes opinion as fact like, "X is a good way of doing this" instead of "I think X is a good way of doing this".
Tarnished Archeologist is another good one, though he can go on long-winded rants on the parallels between the lore and real world history.
TA is the definition of "that's bullshit but I believe it". I love how he shows in-depth how much care went into various visual elements and their real-world inspirations, as well as the inspirations for individual plot elements related to those visual (Black Knives = sicari knives).
I don't buy most of his bigger leaps because they rely on connections that are probably random asset re-use, like Leyndell being a former eternal city because the houses in the lower quarter look the same instead of that just being mediumhouse.3dm. Can't stop thinking about the "Erdtree illusion" theory though.
Based because this is exactly how I feel about all 3 BonfireVN's comments section is one of the least cancerous on YouTube and occasionally has some decent lore insights, too.
Zullie almost never uses I statements, and I think it's deliberate. There's a passive, matter-of-fact tone to all her videos. It feels more like reading item descriptions than a person rambling about their thoughts.
They have eyeballs painted on their backs, so presumably they're working for Gideon in some capacity, whether that be stealing spells and ashes of war for him, or him just spying through them like an eye of sauron.
I don't know where all this nonsense about FROM lore being incredibly deep and esoteric. just read item descriptions and it's incredibly obvious to figure out. Most of the WOW SO DEEP lore is just shit the western fanbase made up due to how bad some of the translations are anyway.
does it matter?
look at a "lore expert" like vaati, he used to (still does?) just plagiarize shit that anon would post on here and he made a fortune doing so
>40 hours total
There is absolutely no way there is enough to talk about to fill 40 hours. I'm guessing 95% of the videos is just him rambling semi-coherently and constantly repeating himself.
Yes, after getting into the lore myself 90% of loretubers flagrantly make shit up out of nothing or use schizo IRL examples to somehow add credence to their bullshit. It gets worse when you watch their other videos and realize their theories are built on top of their existing schizotheories being valid (they're not) leading to a chain of bs all the way down. Vaati is unironically on the lesser evil of loretubers (besides his first Elden Ring video which I will never forgive him for) since his videos are mostly based on item descriptions or simple logical inferences.
Because Elden Ring was gutted of its story right before release for literally no reason. The game is nothing more as it was dropped than an assortment of similar sounding names that you fight for not even vague reasons, it's just utter horseshit.
The draw absurd conclusions from concrete information, act as if they're factual, and then immediately move on before anyone can question them (which they can't, because it's a YouTube video). Hawkshaw is the worst example.
This one dude, Ashen Hollow, used to go really indepth with his lore theories. He thought From used a lot of allegory and was genuinely building up to a Velka reveal in 3. Then The Ringed City came out and it became clear to all of us that the lore never meant anything. I felt really bad for him.
That's my gripe too. As interesting as the backstory is, the best resolution any of it will ever get is a crappy boss fight. Aldrich from DS3 comes to mind, 3 whole areas of build up for a boss that doesn't even get a cutscene.
from slopware does, why shouldn't they? plus fricking morons love to eat up this essay "lore" slop, they don't give a shit if it's right or not if they get views.
>40 hours on Elden Ring lore
There are audiobooks that cover the complete history of Rome in 40 hours.
Wth is that homosexual talking about for 40 hours? And no, I'm not watching 10 hour youtube videos, wtf, get a life....
>vaati makes a video trying to explain the erdtree >finds a plothole in the lore >immediately invents insane headcanon that the erdtree is a parasite to fill the plothole

And the second one killed the first one! >this is based on nothing

>fromsoft puts lore destroying item descriptions on forgettable crafting materials
So.... item descriptions aren't a coherent source of lore?

Don't put words into my mouth, all I'm saying is that there are multiple instances of already ambiguous JP item descriptions being incorrectly translated to English which may lead to stupid conclusions if you don't double check the original

yeah any game that requires you to be fluent in japanese to not fall into massive plot holes just from the localization is a pile of shit

Also the point isn't that it was a mistranslation, the point is that these "lore gurus" instead created an entirely fictitious backstory for the game with zero evidence because of a mistranslated item description. And that's in the first two minutes of the general vaati "elden ring lore" video

They either go off the English version, occasionally reference shit that's been patched out with the "It's not in the game anymore so don't take it seriously, or say that they had some other guy translate it for them

You have no idea what you are talking about.

colour me shocked!
>vaati makes DS1 lore videos >mostly a minute long because there's no real lore >DS2 comes along, Vaati and copycats are now making 30 minute long lore videos mostly based on incoherent weapon descriptions and inserting their own headcanon >Bloodborne again, 30 minute lore videos about not really that much lore >DS3, even gaming journalists are cashing in on the nonsense, subtle features become universe expanding cornerstones, but is still mostly just speculating about item descriptions >sekiro comes out and there's virtually no interest and no lore >elden ring comes out, tons of incoherent schizophrenic themes and characters that don't make sense, "loretubers" are forced to make up so much shit to bridge the gaps, inserting hot takes about philosophy and other stuff they have no business discussing >this spurs a new race of loretubers which pass off their speculation as 100% canon
This guy is a complete fricking schizo. He will cite true information, use that information to make dubious inferences, and then use those dubious inferences to arrive at insane conclusions. Those conclusions are usually just one or two sentences, and then he moves on without even elaborating while also using them to support further conclusions.
I have a friend who watched all this guy's videos and will butt into conversations about Dark Souls with >ACTUALLY, did you know...
based on them. Eventually I buckled and watched this one and one other and it's just pure schizoposting, yeah.
>Now, perhaps this can be interpreted as a non-normal mad human or, perhaps, a non-normal mad non-human (i.e., negating everything)
regretting not watching this video earlier, it actually is mental issues-tier.
It's such a wild video. Primarily because it opens up on a completely unrelated topic (what is the skull in ash lake), then slowly starts to spin into that with the classic "lore video" explanation of unsourced "interviews" and just the most marginal bits of item descriptions and recurring visual themes.
Then about 1/3 into it, it just swings wildly into a different direction. Suddenly we go from trying to figure out the blacksmith stuff into a weird dive into Havel who had no relation to any of the points brought up so far, and then THAT springboards into a weird conspiracy plot that has absolutely no mention anywhere in the game. The only argument is that Havel got locked in a tower so it must have been a punishment.
I mean one autist spoke about a single TF2 map for like 12 hours so I'm not surprised other autists think their meaningless closeted mind schizo babble is worth listening to for 12 hours with other shit.
If you want a simple story presented up front you should play other games, in fact pretty much the vast majority of them. From's games are like Gene Wolfe novels, they reward viewing things within a larger context of both the story itself and external elements referenced by it. Its fine if thats not your thing but you can at least not be ignorant about it.
If the story doesn't make sense then it's a bad story. Literally everything you know is from these videos like everyone else. Fromdroning is outdated in the current year.
>A talisman depicting three iron arrows. >Carried by soldiers long ago. >Raises attack power of arrows and bolts.

such vibrant lore
>>the greater will exists because... the game says it does >>what does it do? hell if I know
The Greater Will nominates enpyreons and commands the Two Fingers which can create weapons, spells and Shadows/Wolves.
The God/Marika is the divine emperess and custodian of the Elden Ring/mandate of heaven.
The Elden Lord is the Shogun/warlord and consort of the empress.
Demigods are princes/princesses to the emperess.
The Greater Will grants the Elden Ring/mandate of heaven.
Empyreans are the eligable heirs to the mandate choosen when the emperess losses her mandate.
>the greater will sent a giant space flubber which is probably the strongest entity in existence to hide in a tree >but it still needs sentient fingers and mortals to......... be selected by it to............
Just to ensure there's some sham of a system going. So long as souls are going to the tree the Greater Will is happy so it come along and harvest the trees at some point.

Simply putting souls in trees doesn't seem to have a point, anon. Why fatten up trees with souls forever? To what end? Even the tree having a life cycle itself isn't a normal occurrence and was only brought about by the shattering.
Just remember this is based on Lord of The rings like Martin said and recall the GW is responsible for sending the Vassal that is the Elden Ring. Recall how we KILL the vassal to purify the Elden Ring. That thing was not doing something good all this time, that was straight from Sauron.

That's all right from Lovecraft. Great Ones and Outer Gods are both his creations.
They're fantastical super beings that exist in other levels of reality that want to exist here as well. As powerful as they are some of them cannot simply cross over at will. They need a foothold to build their presence up with first before they can crossover themselves and manifest. Hence Empyreans being their chosen avatars, again, just like Lovecraft. That person accomplished deeds attributed to their God which gets them a conscious recognition/imprint/influence upon the world that lets them eventually crossover and make the world an extension of their domain.

so the game universe stops evolving for thousands of years until the player character murderhobo spawns and offs all the geriatric gods in their caves which apparently had no coherent goals let alone explicit cosmic level influence despite the entire plot revolving around a floating symbol that came from space, vessels of some sort of sentient cosmic horror and its space flubber friend that hangs out in a giant glowing tree

You can see ships in the game off the coast, they mention sailing to different lands. They talk Marika's religion being worldwide and churches in other lands.
The Outer Gods are mostly concerned with the Lands Between because it's the seat of power in the world, you're basically arguing why nobody is trying to conquer Antarctica...nobody really cares about bumbfricknowheresville.

It's not. The items don't lie to you as they've said in interviews, they tell you the truth. Characters can lie to you, but the items do not. The items tell you facts. The ring contains the Vassal Beast of the Greater Will, not the GW itself.

Of course not.
The Greater Will exist as the god in the platonic realm of ideas beyond the material realm. The Elden Beast is the Demiurge, the Fingers are the prophets of the Greater Will.

>The items don't lie to you as they've said in interviews
Im not trying to say you're wrong but I feel like we have a lot of items and descriptions that contradict one another.
The way I interpret it is that the outer gods exist within a metaphysical framework where belief is power. The more people who believe in an outer god, the more powerful it is. The more powerful it is, the more it can manifest on a material plane. The Greater Will has the most people believing in it, so the Erdtree and the Elden Beast can continue to physically exist, even though the Erdtree is now a mere "object of faith" and its bounty has dwindled. Even with the Golden Order in decline, no other outer god is doing as well, and so they all have a weaker physical presence.
The Frenzied Flame is called forth by the collective belief of the entombed merchants. The sealed outer god of rot is possibly able to manifest an avatar in Malenia because the bug-people believe in it, even though they are attempting to "grow" another Malenia who will fully embrace the rot. The Formless Mother demands belief in the form of blood sacrifice, which is why Mohg, Alberich, and the thorn sorcerers can call upon its power. And obviously, with sufficient faith or intelligence (which are implied to be two sides of the same coin in Elden Ring), the player can also call upon the power of outer gods.
So the outer gods can't just manifest on a whim. If they could, the Frenzied Flame would have burned the Lands Between to a crisp by now, or the Fell God would have burned the Erdtree. Outer gods need believers, champions, avatars, and gods to impose their particular order on the material plane. It's a bureaucratic system that's designed to foster a self-sustaining system that feeds the outer gods the thing that gives them influence: belief. Everyone who's trying to change the current order probably realized this on some level.
It's almost like the games are written to be interpreted

>Miyazaki grew up poor in Shizuoka, a hundred miles southwest of Tokyo. As a child, he couldn’t afford books of his own; at the library, he borrowed English fantasy and science fiction that he didn’t understand, imagining stories that might accompany the pictures. >In Dark Souls, a crucial plot detail is more likely to be found in the description of an item in your inventory than in dialogue. It’s a technique Miyazaki employs to spark players’ imaginations, in the same way that he extracted stories from illustrated fantasy books as a child. “That power of imagination is important to me,” he said. “Offering room for user interpretation creates a sense of communication with the audience—and, of course, communication between users in the community. This is something that I enjoy seeing unfold with our games, and that has continued to influence my work.”

yeah they do but it's the point. it's meant to be fun. you take what you want from item/dialogue/game-play and fill in the gaps yourself. it's like subway story can't be bad if you made it yourself.
Anyway i walked out of the lim grave, saw a bunch shitty skulls on the ground. DS4 sucked right then and there so i trashed the files.
Game came out on a Friday, by Tuesday complaints started to come into the threads and by the following Friday anon had agreed it was crap. It was a satisfying experience.
Nobody really knows what is going on in the game. All of these videos are speculation. The dialogue throughout the game might as well be Chinese or gibberish. Most people are too proud to admit the story in the game is terrible.
Most likely the videos are just them reading stuff off the wiki, which is what most video game youtube info channels are since zoomers are too moronic to check wikis.
>THE ENTIRE LORE OF ELDEN RING >20 hours later >Start talking about the Demi-gods and shattering literally the most important shit in the intro cutscene
I CANT LMAOOOOO
"Lore Youtubers" are morons who think they are clever, making videos for other morons.
I played Elden Ring recently and anyone who needed to watch a video to understand the lore is in fact a moron. There really isn't that much to it. Most likely, the majority of these lore videos is just making shit up because the morons watching will believe it and think it's deep.
The lore of Elden Ring is surprisingly deep but it isn't 40 hours long deep. Youtubers like these just pad videos with random bull crap that doesn't relate to the lore at all because youtube rewards watch hours.
It's the most complex world they've ever written, but at the same time it has the loosest narrative and the most missing pieces. It's a content factory.
>The lore of Elden Ring is surprisingly deep
DS1's lore was just as deep and more coherent/fleshed out, almost entirely due to the intro cutscene (which they laughably left out of elden ring, slideshow bros....)
Marketing budget? I dunno. Maybe it was and they came up with the opening we got as a bonus. So instead of just 1 cinematic we got 2 and decided since we saw one already we didn't need the other?
>3 hour video esasy >80% of the vid is just a story recap or the dude reading wikipedia
These video essays made me appreciate my literature teachers when she asked me to elaborate
no b***hes. or they just have someone else do it if they're big enough. most medium sized YouTubers have some troony shut in edit their videos and run their second channels because they'll even do it for free (as long as you
pretend you care about them). and if you're in the million sub range you need to barely do anything because you'll have an agent and a whole media team around you making sure you crank shit out as fast as possible.
why do the smut artists always model marika as some sort of micro-bikini wearing blonde bimbo bawdbag whereas everyone else looks at least somewhat on model?
that's a good point, I just realized that I don't really have a frame of reference either, aside from the glimpse at the intro and the official art in the wiki, it just feels wrong, maybe it's the art style
It is absolutely pedantic. It's exactly the same as correcting someone's wrong pronunciation for example.
Changing original designs to fit artist's vision is a natural thing to do, people have been doing that for ages and they will keep doing so.
I mean if it's parody work, there is only so much the artist can alter before it feels too dissonant from the source material. And I can see that you are giving them the benefit of doubt, but often, it's not about a particular vision, but more simply them defaulting to whatever's the easiest to them, e.g. it's just my art style, says the artist after misappropriating yet another character with their same face
3 months ago
Anonymous
>defaulting to whatever's the easiest to them
But this is also fine. Maybe the artist is able to draw better in his preferred style and well-drawn off-model art is better than meh on-model one in my book. Or maybe artist is just injecting his fetishes (again, especially in the case of porn), which is also perfectly understandable thing to do.
And ultimately fanart / doujin are just that — non-canon work made because the artist liked the original, nothing more. I'd understand complains about official canon art being off-model art, but I don't think it fair to demand the same from fan art.

I understand your point. I'm not demanding it, I value it because it's somewhat rare. It shows effort if they don't do it well, and it shows skills if they do it well.
>ad footage clearly show radagon breaking the bottom part of the elden ring >you see the elden ring in the cutscene for radagon, a seperate entity from marika >radagon manifests the bottom of the elden ring, which is stuck in his hammer during his bossfight >what's left of the unbroken part of the elden ring disappears in the cutscene, breaking into pieces >reality doesn't dissolve or anything >you having part of the elden ring in a hammer doesn't bend reality >you walk over to marika's body and "mend" the elden ring despite the elden ring disintegrating in the cutscene
it's like they had no idea what to do with the characters or their own plot
The Elden Ring fell from the stars, meaning the world existed before it was there. It can dictate some order over the world, but it's not the foundational basis of reality itself.
>>ad footage clearly show radagon breaking the bottom part of the elden ring
You mean this frame? When you see someone holding the hammer with two hands = marika
I mean its possible they changed shit but its pretty clear Marika destroyed the ring and Radagon tried to fix it
>Radagon tried to fix it
nothing in the game shows this, the only evidence we have that radagon did anything is that there's a shard of the elden ring stuck in his hammer
>nothing in the game shows this
Literally the same hammer you keep referencing says it.
>Stone hammer made in the lands of the Numen, outside the Lands Between. The tool with which Queen Marika shattered the Elden Ring and Radagon attempted to repair it.
Yes OP, they actually do just make up shit. They're an evolution of the Monster Hunter wiki morons that made up an entire story about equal dragon weapons and a dragon war based off of three pictures of scrapped content in 1st and 2nd generation Monster Hunter art books then wrote entire sections of a wiki dedicated to their fanfiction then got mogged by a Chinese MMO that showed Rajang eating Kirin horns and that became canon in Iceborne before their 500k fanfics.

They have eyeballs painted on their backs, so presumably they're working for Gideon in some capacity, whether that be stealing spells and ashes of war for him, or him just spying through them like an eye of sauron.
warhammer lore autists just make 15 minutes videos reading the wiki for maximum ad revenue
Every body makes shit up their ass, that's where you make it. Do you make shit in your liver or something?
Elden Ring lore isn't even hard to explain, there's no reason for these videos to be 10 hours long.
Videos just prove how shit the souls way of storytelling is. There is never any satisfying pay offs or intrigue because its all so indirect and weird.
That's my gripe too. As interesting as the backstory is, the best resolution any of it will ever get is a crappy boss fight. Aldrich from DS3 comes to mind, 3 whole areas of build up for a boss that doesn't even get a cutscene.
I liked Sekiro but that game was pretty straightforward.
from slopware does, why shouldn't they? plus fricking morons love to eat up this essay "lore" slop, they don't give a shit if it's right or not if they get views.
>40 hours on Elden Ring lore
There are audiobooks that cover the complete history of Rome in 40 hours.
Wth is that homosexual talking about for 40 hours? And no, I'm not watching 10 hour youtube videos, wtf, get a life....
>vaati makes a video trying to explain the erdtree
>finds a plothole in the lore
>immediately invents insane headcanon that the erdtree is a parasite to fill the plothole
lol
What was the plothole in question again?
>fromsoft writes a bunch of factions outside of GRRM's narrative to fill out enemy types and themes
>one of these factions are all the enemies tied to the crucible
>item descriptions for the crucible and the erdtree contradict each other and reference a tree before the erdtree because fromsoft didn't think out the timeline
>vaati's conclusion: Well uh... that... of course.... could only mean there were TWO erdtrees! And the second one killed the first one!
>this is based on nothing
lmao
Isn't that just wonky translation?
>fromsoft puts lore destroying item descriptions on forgettable crafting materials
So.... item descriptions aren't a coherent source of lore?
This is a good point do any of these YouTubers speak Japanese?
Like Bible scholars have to learn Greek and Hebrew.
They either go off the English version, occasionally reference shit that's been patched out with the "It's not in the game anymore so don't take it seriously, or say that they had some other guy translate it for them
Depends on the youtuber.
>>item descriptions for the crucible and the erdtree contradict each other and reference a tree before the erdtree because fromsoft didn't think out the timeline
You have no idea what you are talking about.
>>this is based on nothing
>grafting is a huge part of the game
>unga brained anon on Ganker doesnt know what grafting isand claims its a plot hole
colour me shocked!
>vaati makes DS1 lore videos
>mostly a minute long because there's no real lore
>DS2 comes along, Vaati and copycats are now making 30 minute long lore videos mostly based on incoherent weapon descriptions and inserting their own headcanon
>Bloodborne again, 30 minute lore videos about not really that much lore
>DS3, even gaming journalists are cashing in on the nonsense, subtle features become universe expanding cornerstones, but is still mostly just speculating about item descriptions
>sekiro comes out and there's virtually no interest and no lore
>elden ring comes out, tons of incoherent schizophrenic themes and characters that don't make sense, "loretubers" are forced to make up so much shit to bridge the gaps, inserting hot takes about philosophy and other stuff they have no business discussing
>this spurs a new race of loretubers which pass off their speculation as 100% canon
They are basically writing From Software's games. For free.
Only morons care about lore in fromsoft games as most of the actually interesting stuff is cut content
Elden Ring won't make sense to anyone who isn't interested in alchemy.
Alex jones of loretubers
why is he so obsessed with making shit up about havel?
He's done like 4 videos where he just straight up pulls from his ass about Havel specifically. No other story is out of the ordinary, just havel
This guy is a complete fricking schizo. He will cite true information, use that information to make dubious inferences, and then use those dubious inferences to arrive at insane conclusions. Those conclusions are usually just one or two sentences, and then he moves on without even elaborating while also using them to support further conclusions.
just pure unadulterated schitzo posting
I have a friend who watched all this guy's videos and will butt into conversations about Dark Souls with
>ACTUALLY, did you know...
based on them.
Elden Ring fricked up its lore didn't it?
I didn't even try to get into the lore because it was obvious they didn't even try with the gameplay
Its probably their most thought out and best executed game in terms of lore to date, with maybe the exception of bloodborne
yeah it's so thought out it requires 40 hour video essays to explain
If you want a simple story presented up front you should play other games, in fact pretty much the vast majority of them. From's games are like Gene Wolfe novels, they reward viewing things within a larger context of both the story itself and external elements referenced by it. Its fine if thats not your thing but you can at least not be ignorant about it.
If the story doesn't make sense then it's a bad story. Literally everything you know is from these videos like everyone else. Fromdroning is outdated in the current year.
Lmao I dunno anon I generally like this type of stuff and I thought Elden Ring had loads of dumb shit
Cool lore. Enlightening.
Lore-bros...the implications....
Dunno. Dragon cultists are mute i guess.
ah yes the dragon cult that you... never meet
The wyrm boss fights.
Dragon cult (lightning wielders) and dragon communion (dragon hunting, dragon heart ingestion, dragon transformation) are two different things.
?t=11
The average Gankertard will read this and say "none of this makes any sense and anyone who thinks they understand it is lying."
what's the most factual loretuber that is also watchable?
>A talisman depicting three iron arrows.
>Carried by soldiers long ago.
>Raises attack power of arrows and bolts.
At one point i had to made something up.
obviously a reference to the beegees
wtf who looks at an arrow talisman and thinks it's in any way related to soldiers using arrows? moronic loremasters making shit up as usual.
I am begging you to take your meds
>the greater will exists because... the game says it does
>what does it do? hell if I know
>the elden beast was sent by the greater will to... actually I don't know
>the erdtree and crucible exist, here's my headcanon about how they interacted
>uh the main character in the game... we don't know a lot about her
>how can things die in the game if there is no concept of death in the game
>uh, don't know...
>the golden order is a thing... nothing really relevant about that
such vibrant lore
>>the greater will exists because... the game says it does
>>what does it do? hell if I know
The Greater Will nominates enpyreons and commands the Two Fingers which can create weapons, spells and Shadows/Wolves.
>The Greater Will nominates enpyreons
why
The God/Marika is the divine emperess and custodian of the Elden Ring/mandate of heaven.
The Elden Lord is the Shogun/warlord and consort of the empress.
Demigods are princes/princesses to the emperess.
The Greater Will grants the Elden Ring/mandate of heaven.
Empyreans are the eligable heirs to the mandate choosen when the emperess losses her mandate.
>the greater will sent a giant space flubber which is probably the strongest entity in existence to hide in a tree
>but it still needs sentient fingers and mortals to......... be selected by it to............
Just to ensure there's some sham of a system going. So long as souls are going to the tree the Greater Will is happy so it come along and harvest the trees at some point.
>none of the characters have any explicit goals so somebody dreamed up some sort of soul siphon nonsense that has zero evidence in the entire game
That thing was not doing something good all this time, that was straight from Sauron.
none of this has any evidence in the game, it's cope because none of the characters in the game have any actual goals
Saying the characters don't have goals means you didn't even play the game yourself
okay explain a single god's goal
Rot just wants to spread his kind, there. Done.
>a god's goal is to, continue existing
okay but uh, what about all the cosmic bullshit going on? Did the lights turn off when the player character spawned? Or probably long before that with everybody afk in a cave
>what about all the cosmic bullshit going on?
That's all right from Lovecraft. Great Ones and Outer Gods are both his creations.
They're fantastical super beings that exist in other levels of reality that want to exist here as well. As powerful as they are some of them cannot simply cross over at will. They need a foothold to build their presence up with first before they can crossover themselves and manifest. Hence Empyreans being their chosen avatars, again, just like Lovecraft. That person accomplished deeds attributed to their God which gets them a conscious recognition/imprint/influence upon the world that lets them eventually crossover and make the world an extension of their domain.
>more headcanon
so the game universe stops evolving for thousands of years until the player character murderhobo spawns and offs all the geriatric gods in their caves which apparently had no coherent goals let alone explicit cosmic level influence despite the entire plot revolving around a floating symbol that came from space, vessels of some sort of sentient cosmic horror and its space flubber friend that hangs out in a giant glowing tree
>so the game universe stops evolving for thousands of years
In the thousands of years since the Ring has shattered they have been trying to get control of the world. I don't know why you think a war of eternity should have been resolved at that moment because you say so lol
>they have been trying to get control of the world
>small island completely destroyed by gods that sit brooding in caves waiting for you to kill them
>didn't even manage to make ships
You can see ships in the game off the coast, they mention sailing to different lands. They talk Marika's religion being worldwide and churches in other lands.
The Outer Gods are mostly concerned with the Lands Between because it's the seat of power in the world, you're basically arguing why nobody is trying to conquer Antarctica...nobody really cares about bumbfricknowheresville.
oh yeah I forgot they did have wars in other places, wars with their immortal soldiers, and yet they're a bunch of failures brooding in caves waiting for you to kill them
>That's all right from Lovecraft. Great Ones and Outer Gods are both his creations.
They're fantastical super beings that exist in other levels of reality that want to exist here as well. As powerful as they are some of them cannot simply cross over at will. Now I know who watch this dogshit
Yeah I dont know how can anyone with a brain not question the fingers and finger maidens, literally just "trust me bro im talking with these giants fingers that are connected to god"
The space flubber is the demiurge.
And the stars are the archons.
It's not. The items don't lie to you as they've said in interviews, they tell you the truth. Characters can lie to you, but the items do not. The items tell you facts. The ring contains the Vassal Beast of the Greater Will, not the GW itself.
>The ring contains the Vassal Beast of the Greater Will, not the GW itself.
Of course not.
The Greater Will exist as the god in the platonic realm of ideas beyond the material realm. The Elden Beast is the Demiurge, the Fingers are the prophets of the Greater Will.
>In the Archontic, Sethian, and Ophite systems, Yaldabaoth (Yahweh) is regarded as the malevolent Demiurge and false god of the Old Testament who generated the material universe and keeps the souls trapped in physical bodies, imprisoned in the world full of pain and suffering that he created
Wait, arent some items written by characters?
>The way I interpret it
It's almost like the games are written to be interpreted
they're not, if something as simple as the game's plot is up for interpretation you fricked up
Ok I feel like it add to the mistery, not every question need an answer.
Its not bad or good, it's just a way to tell a story
You dont like it but its fine, no need to take it on other anons trying to give their interpretations
you inventing headcanon isn't "a way to tell the story"
You're right but that's how from tells stories and people like to engage with them because we want answers
This is something that I enjoy seeing unfold with our games, and that has continued to influence my work.”
https://www.newyorker.com/culture/persons-of-interest/hidetaka-miyazaki-sees-death-as-a-feature-not-a-bug
have a nice day
>miyazaki is a hack fraud
yes I know
>going to the library makes you poor
no wonder literacy is falling. Black folk would rather be stupid than be seen borrowing books.
yeah they do but it's the point. it's meant to be fun. you take what you want from item/dialogue/game-play and fill in the gaps yourself. it's like subway story can't be bad if you made it yourself.
Greetings from the anglosphere shitskin
Most likely the videos are just them reading stuff off the wiki, which is what most video game youtube info channels are since zoomers are too moronic to check wikis.
>THE ENTIRE LORE OF ELDEN RING
>20 hours later
>Start talking about the Demi-gods and shattering literally the most important shit in the intro cutscene
I CANT LMAOOOOO
Do people like fromslop games because they can make a job out of explaining obtuse and obscure lore?
Those views won't pay him any rent. Unless he's doing live streams and getting those donations.
"Lore Youtubers" are morons who think they are clever, making videos for other morons.
I played Elden Ring recently and anyone who needed to watch a video to understand the lore is in fact a moron. There really isn't that much to it. Most likely, the majority of these lore videos is just making shit up because the morons watching will believe it and think it's deep.
>chatgpt I need a 100k words elden ring lore essay
The lore of Elden Ring is surprisingly deep but it isn't 40 hours long deep. Youtubers like these just pad videos with random bull crap that doesn't relate to the lore at all because youtube rewards watch hours.
It's the most complex world they've ever written, but at the same time it has the loosest narrative and the most missing pieces. It's a content factory.
>The lore of Elden Ring is surprisingly deep
DS1's lore was just as deep and more coherent/fleshed out, almost entirely due to the intro cutscene (which they laughably left out of elden ring, slideshow bros....)
They just used it as the story trailer.
Why wasn't this in the game?! We got a crappy powerpoint slideshow instead.
Marketing budget? I dunno. Maybe it was and they came up with the opening we got as a bonus. So instead of just 1 cinematic we got 2 and decided since we saw one already we didn't need the other?
I really wish they had done a classic DS cinematic for ER. The game deserved it. Even DS2 had one
I mean the intro and this video are pretty much the same
Also frick u homie for hating the Demon Souls style opening
Frickin n word
>3 hour video esasy
>80% of the vid is just a story recap or the dude reading wikipedia
These video essays made me appreciate my literature teachers when she asked me to elaborate
first watcher of these vids are vaatividya so he knows what video to make next
These things are the comfiest things to listen to while at work.
is zullie actually a troony
>tfw finally did my first 40 minutes vid
>took me fricking forever
jeez how do people endure editing so much footage?
no b***hes. or they just have someone else do it if they're big enough. most medium sized YouTubers have some troony shut in edit their videos and run their second channels because they'll even do it for free (as long as you
pretend you care about them). and if you're in the million sub range you need to barely do anything because you'll have an agent and a whole media team around you making sure you crank shit out as fast as possible.
is there anything real these days?
mainstream? no
>got 1k views on a vid
did I made it lads?
that shit was barely impressive in 2009
There are sooo many channels in my recommended who sit at 10-100 views...
Youtube is really pushing the little channels
I got some good channels too thanks to that
>marika, the main instigator and most important character in the story, has completely unexplained motivations
>2 hours video essay
>more than half of it is a plot recap
I fricking hate these let's play/review hybrids
Is it really that hard to review something?
I quite enjoy them.
who cares if zullie is trans? they never bother anyone and keep to themselves
since when did we care about trannies this much?
It's Ganker bro this place has people that only want to talk about trannies
this was never a thing until semi recently anon
t. boomer
>t. boomer
this place used to have trap threads 24/7 a couple years ago, funny how things change

>ever since I was a little girl
Ganker on suicide watch
what's the lore implication of this?
She's just straightening out her rapture pose.
why do the smut artists always model marika as some sort of micro-bikini wearing blonde bimbo bawdbag whereas everyone else looks at least somewhat on model?
>why do smut artist model a female characters as a bimbo bawd
gee I wonder Anon
that's a given, but for her alone, she's off-model to a quite significant extend, much more so than other female elden ring characters
Probably because there's no character model for pre-shattering Marika, so they have to rely on their imagination, by which I mean their dicks.
that's a good point, I just realized that I don't really have a frame of reference either, aside from the glimpse at the intro and the official art in the wiki, it just feels wrong, maybe it's the art style
Because only obnoxiously pedantic nerds care about fanart (and especially porn) being "on model".
I don't think it's pedantic to want fanart (especially porn) to be on model. That's just having standard imo.
And I can see that you are giving them the benefit of doubt, but often, it's not about a particular vision, but more simply them defaulting to whatever's the easiest to them, e.g. it's just my art style, says the artist after misappropriating yet another character with their same face
>defaulting to whatever's the easiest to them
But this is also fine.
It shows effort if they don't do it well, and it shows skills if they do it well.
marika indoctrinating melina (colorized)
>ad footage clearly show radagon breaking the bottom part of the elden ring
>you see the elden ring in the cutscene for radagon, a seperate entity from marika
>radagon manifests the bottom of the elden ring, which is stuck in his hammer during his bossfight
>what's left of the unbroken part of the elden ring disappears in the cutscene, breaking into pieces
>reality doesn't dissolve or anything
>you having part of the elden ring in a hammer doesn't bend reality
>you walk over to marika's body and "mend" the elden ring despite the elden ring disintegrating in the cutscene
it's like they had no idea what to do with the characters or their own plot
You're right but from the trailer we can see that Marika is not the one in a defeated position
>nothing in the game shows this
Literally the same hammer you keep referencing says it.
>Stone hammer made in the lands of the Numen, outside the Lands Between. The tool with which Queen Marika shattered the Elden Ring and Radagon attempted to repair it.
I hope we get to see melina again in some shape of form in the dlc, I miss her.
huh bwo she dead...
i know, even if it's just player character getting to carry her urn around, I'd be happy
Yes OP, they actually do just make up shit. If this were 2004 they would all be posting on fanfiction net and writing 50 pages in a single thread with no posts by themselves until they reach their conclusion and a couple people post "that was pretty neat" and the thread sits on page 48 of 52 for a couple years.
>Caring about Souls lore
>several hours videos
Literally picrelated.
You now remember EpicNameBro
Remember? He's still around. He was streaming P3R earlier today, and he has a Kickstarter for some RPG.
because they make shit up for moronic pseuds just like la creatividad kojima
