This is one of those examples that makes me wish games had two English translations selectable: a "literal" one, and an alternative one that maintains the intent but can be more liberal with the delivery. Because in this particular example, the literal translation is a bit dull in comparison to what we got, but it should still exist as an option for those who value that.
What you don't understand is that Japanese like English has "inaka" accents and words like "sow" and if they wanted to speak like a fricking medieval farmer the Japanese would use that kind of language.

I don't think the person who originally wrote that line had any intent regarding how professional the soldier was supposed to sound, I'm pretty sure the intent was just "here's a line to explain some lore" and wrote some straightforward dialogue between two soldiers. But I guess we'll never know without asking Matsuno or whoever wrote that line for him.
