My idea would require no new art assets or mechanics and would blend nicely with the base game, it is all a matter of writing and posing already existent assets.
Basically, side quests are Yakuza style.
After conquering a floor, you would be able to free roam and find prisoners, guards, visitors(...) asking for something, having troubles, or a scripted fight(...), and Karryn would be able to intervene.
The sex scenes would be using existent CG but scripted. These sidequests would improve greatly the pacing, by having the player do something between fights and jobs.

Yes, and Karryn is the perfect H-JRPG and has no sidequests at all. A completely missed opportunity. I have nearly 50 hours on my file and I'm always thinking about Yakuza while playing it.
Yakuza's pillars are often Fights, Side mini-games, Side Quests. Side quests are the easiest to implement, it's literally asset flips.
