Some of the worst writing I've ever seen from a video game. Literally, the fate of who gets to become God is determined by a foot race only for a teleporting Deus Ex Machina to end the race for you.
The combat is the only thing worth a damn. The speech skills system is a fricking disaster. Trying to play solo is a disaster. The inventory system and item generation is a disaster.
Dallis
uses the Aeterum or whatever the frick it was called to destroy the thing even though the whole "wand that's actually a space gun that can destroy all source as we know it(!)" was only introduced like an hour earlier in a 50+ hour game
and there's no mention of it after since you basically get the same choice for the ending because you're literally G*d and can do whatever the frick you want
also the path of blood has to be some of the worst gameplay in any RPG ever, and that's actually surprising since the rest of the game was kind of tight
>the fate of who gets to become God is determined by a foot race
This made me ridiculously upset at the academy. Especially since someone in our party already had extremely high movement and wings. While the npcs were fighting each other, he went straight to the mcguffin in one turn.
>extremely high movement and wings.
If we ignore the fact that this part was literally written around the epic "tweest" (Dallis destroying the fountain) then there's also teleportation. Practically any teleporting mook with adrenaline can make it to the end in 1-2 turns and become god. It's stupid.
Huh? I don't like Sebille. And I'm not a "waifu gay" you mentally ill freak, I don't like women, why would I talk about "waifus", are you sick in the head?
>awful character designs >uninspired setting >terrible writing >embarassing dialogue >player dialogue delivery designed by an insane person >developers' OCs disincentivises character creation
It's a bad game for morons with shit taste
Its flawed but fun.
I think if it werent for the 4 player co op it would be easily forgotten, the actual Roleplay shit is a footnote, you have the choice to say yes no or why in conversations with no real choice as to factions or your path in the setting. You are at the mercy of the campaign and forced to be friends with the plucky good guys (and that one demon elf oc that exists solely to be praised as cool by everyone even your own character).
That said the gameplay loop is pretty fun once you get the hang of it but for a while the Armour/MagicResist system can be incredibly fricking annoying.
Eh, it's more fun solo than with friends. The reason DOS1 and 2 are popular is the incredible amount of world interactivity the player has, more than any competitor. Yes, the story is pretty railroaded, but how you go through that is up to the player.
Fun but unless you're going solo/duo Lone Wolf combat takes too long.
Like any game of it's nature it's also really easy to break if you've played it before so I can honestly say that besides challenge runs the game suffers on replayability
Loved the combat, the exploration, the character building, the crafting system and the music. The game gives you plenty of different opportunities to interact with your environment and its inhabitants. You can do some pretty cool things in this game. What really irks me is inventory management and itemization. There is an absolute boat-load of items in this game and you have to single click every single one of them. It is tedious and taxing. Furthermore, almost all items are randomized and each randomized item scales with level. Not only that, but containers are randomized, too. So replayability suffers greatly, in my opinion. It leads to either 100% save-scumming autism as you check containers and merchant wares for the right combination of stats that you're looking for or you just forego that little mini-game of "get the right item" every few levels for a poverty-tier experience. Some people might not care about that sort of thing and I'm probably in the minority here, but I care and it's so frustrating that so much effort is required in immersion-breaking actions to keep up your gear as you progress through the game. There really should have been multi-select available for inventory management and a more reliable itemization for each play-through.
I really don't like the style. Everyone teleports all over the place in every fight. Every single person you encounter, even simple guardsmen and peasants, has potent teleportation magic or the superhuman ability to leap dozens of metres into the sky.
It's a mess.
I think the devs made an interesting combat system and then proceeded to shit all over it by adding too many circumventions and the armor system makes it worse.
It's such a huge ordeal getting through that part of the game as a beginner. I autistically put in 700+ hours learning the game at Fort Joy and building an unstoppable team doing all sorts of save-scum cheese to get the right stats on my gear and learning all the best ways to min-max items and XP on the boat and through the island. It was tons of fun, but once I got to Reaper's Coast i realized that it was just going to be more save-scumming maintain that level of gear and I got filtered. I wish games had a premade set of items in the game that were placed strategically with zero randomized items like they used to do in the good old days.
>700+ hours learning the game at Fort Joy
Jesus Christ
I finished all the non mutually exclusive quests without a guide and it took me like 30-40 hours at most. What the frick did you do?
Let me summarise this thread for you >Filtered by gameplay because there is a variety of challenges >Filtered by playing it with a shitty group / generally having a low IQ >Filtered because they hate high fantasy
Did you just make this thread to get replies?
yes

Some of the worst reddit spacing i’ve ever seen in a post. he’s still right though

Man, I get a kick out of criticism of this game. You're such a moron
i'm straight
Yeah I love it. Ifan is the canon protag and he loves his cute gay husband Lucian!
what Black person
Didnt you sperg about Sebille now? Elf bodies make even waifu gays gay now?
Huh? I don't like Sebille. And I'm not a "waifu gay" you mentally ill freak, I don't like women, why would I talk about "waifus", are you sick in the head?
Farquaad, can you change the gimmick for a little while? It's so old at this point.

I don't support developers who are anti-white.
Who are the developers?
the black antifa panthers
but all the main characters are white or a lizard

Yeah, it's a really fun game. My favorite Larian game is still Divine Divinity though.
Yes, exept endings, and some other part in lategame.

You should not care what other people think about that garbage ass game as long as you like it.
Plot was absolute moron tier, combat was great.

It starts very strong and gets very boring and unfocused after Fort Joy. Getting off that fricking island killed both my solo and group playthroughs.
