Melees are basically skirmishers, and DRG has pretty much the ideal tool kit to excel at that and can pop in, wreak some havoc, and then pop out with relative impunity.
SAM has issues disengaging, and their Iaijutsu casts are super fricking wonky.
Lalas would be a lot more liked if they weren't all horrible people, both the npcs and the players.

Boss design peaked with Stormblood. We will never get another boss battle like Byakko (with the skydiving) or Suzaku (with the DDR), or Shinryu EX (running along his tail to an entire different arena, yeah imagine having TWO boss arenas in a single trial).
Since ShB every single boss battle is just copypaste unimaginative garbage with nothing unique or memorable about them, the only "cool" parts are unskippable cinematics that you're forced to sit and watch every, fricking, time.
the trials and alliance raids this expansion have been really fricking good design and spectacle-wise

and the normal raids have been kind of hit or miss
Skydiving is alright as a spectacle the first time but doing it every time when farming the Extreme really wears out its welcome, it's not even hard in any way. Suzaku's DDR in comparison lasts way less time before the phase change and leads to fun banter in the party when someone misses out on the max buff stacks because of server latency frickery. Shinryu Ex's tail run is probably the best phase change gimmick the game will ever see, as disappointing as it is that there's likely nothing as cool as that waiting in the future.

when ShB first dropped it was done so knowing some people didn't do the CT raids. You could do that scene and have no idea who g'raha is and not have the option to call out to him. They've since not only made CT mandatory but also tweaked the ending a little bit. Now eternal wind plays during the cutscene where g'raha locks himself in.

Why does anyone watch these guys? They are by far the biggest stallers to have ever played this game. Rich, Pint? They got nothing on these guys. At least they both finished the game eventually. Yet they manage to pull 2k+ viewers each stream. The second they finish the story they are in for a rude awakening. It's as if they're afraid of this innevitable fate and are trying to drag it out as much as possible.
Worst part is they don't stream any other games since they started FFXIV like 2 years ago other than XVI which they abandoned after a few streams. As streamers they're really shooting themselves in the foots not just by stalling the frick out this game but by refusing to even stream anything else during the giant gaps between their XIV streams. Their channel is literally dead when they're caught up on the game's content.
They only stream XIV like two days a week.
About 4 - 6 hours each stream, which all have 1 hour of superchat and aprox. 1 hour of BRB and more chat.
They also don't just do the MSQ, no. They do every battle content by expansion. That means 8-man streams, 24-man, job quests and Bozja (I believe they skipped Eureka).
They were somewhat catching up before Fanfest, but had to make a month long vacation + Fanfest attendence. Now it's even slower than before.

Heat-death of the universe still makes perfect sense in light of energy expenditure, you will run out of energy, this is why it's called "heat death", there is no more energy to expend in the universe
In Final Fantasy's cosmology there isn't actually anything preventing you from hopping universes to one that isn't dead or dying, if you're magically or mechanically powerful enough, but the Ea weren't as all-knowing as they thought they were

Anyone else hate what Shadowbringers did to Light as an element? Before it was something divine and mysterious. Now? It's just a fricking an element that stands for "stasis". Light, and Darkness too, are just maeningless and boring now. They're just elements, they have no divine meaning or purpose.
Blizzard did similiar shit with the Light and Shadow in WoW and I hated it there. It ties into the writers of this game and their obsession with explaining away any magic or mystery in this setting and making every boring and scientifically explainable. "Light" in a fantasy setting should be something divine and mystical, Darkness should be something sinister and twisted, to remove that defeats the entire fantasy of Light and Dark. They may as well just be plain old magic.
It also ruins Paladins thematically. No longer am I some holy knight wielding divine powers to smite evil-doers, no I'm just fricking dood casting white-colored magic. Frick off.

It's more like Paladins are wielding "purity" since white magic drifts pretty close to Light, but Cure spells work mainly by "purified" aether to spur spontaneous healing of recent injuries
Urianger says that the Source had it backwards after finding an elemental chart on the First. Light is passivity and bringing things to an absolute standstill (literally "bringing peace" is a Light element action) and Darkness is activity and making things move (things can't die on the Thirteenth, the Lifestream is destroyed and their souls and bodies are so "active" they just immediately reform), the logic going that Darkness represents a villain who shatters the peace and Light is a hero who restores it
It's not that the Source had it backwards, it's that they use different nomenclature. The Source names the polarities by the final result, while the First names the polarities by the original effect. Light draws aether into a passive state, causing it to take the form of water, ice, and earth, all things that are cold and dark. So the Source called that polarity Umbral, because they were just looking at the final result. Darkness makes aether heavily active, turning it to wind, lightning, and fire, bright heavenly things. So they called that one Astral.
Because Light is order, and if you take 'order' to an extreme then it becomes stasis, never changing because it's perfectly structured and any change would disrupt that order. Think about why the main holy summon in the series is a castle. Darkness on the other hand is chaotic, which is why it gets associated with evil. But in a more healthy sense, it's the potential to change. In FFXI the fact that the Five Races were born from Darkness is the whole reason they're able to accomplish great things, compared to the beastmen who weren't born from Promathia's seed and are basically moronic. In FFXIII the Darkness is treated basically the same way. It's the root of emotion.

Sin eaters aren't rabid. They only attack at the direction of a light warden, otherwise they just wander like aimless zombies. Vauthry directs sin eaters to attack people because the idea is to make them give up hope and stop fighting, and become indolent. They could've wrote two opposing factions on Norvrandt and have some conflict that developed between them in the wake of the world turning to shit, and you're forced to side with one faction and fight the other until the end of the MSQ, all the while having to deal with the creeping light-infection as a looming threat that will eventually turn everyone to stone. Also the WOL gets infected by this disease himself.
In the end it turns out Emet Selch was behind one of the factions. Maybe, as a twist, you were actually fighting for the faction Emet was controlling the entire time and actually fighting and killing the good guys the whole MSQ, they were actually trying to stop the faction you sided with from further tipping the world towards Light enough for a rejoining, and the expansion ends the same way it already does ingame, where you go to Amaurot below the ocean and fight Emet to the death after learning the truth.

I would write it like it's something people treat as a "disease" but it's really just a consequence of too much light-build up (like radiation poisoning) in your body from being exposed to an environment over-abudent in Light-aspected Aether. The "disease" would slowly turn people to lifeless stone.
To avoid this the people of the FIrst would entirely move underground, hiding in the dark to avoid light-infection, basically Slitherbough would be how everyone lived.
The only problem with this is that then there would be no enemies to fight the entire expansion as the "enemy" would be a disease that turns you to stone. So I understand why they wrote Sin Eaters it's still thematically moronic.

I found something with some googling. The author is BEGGING people to make Lala mods with it. Learning to use Blender to make a nice body mesh that's ready for import to FFXIV is probably the biggest hurdle if you haven't used it before. Modding games tends to be really easy and I recommend anyone interested just mod whatever they can ASAP because much of the knowledge of modding one game will apply to others. You don't even have to do things from scratch since you can use other people's mods as frameworks for your own.

Boss design peaked with Stormblood. We will never get another boss battle like Byakko (with the skydiving) or Suzaku (with the DDR), or Shinryu EX (running along his tail to an entire different arena, yeah imagine having TWO boss arenas in a single trial).
Since ShB every single boss battle is just copypaste unimaginative garbage with nothing unique or memorable about them, the only "cool" parts are unskippable cinematics that you're forced to sit and watch every, fricking, time.
They spent all gimmicks in SB.

the problem with the alliance raids is that they are too easy
and the normal raids have been kind of hit or miss
Skydiving is alright as a spectacle the first time but doing it every time when farming the Extreme really wears out its welcome, it's not even hard in any way. Suzaku's DDR in comparison lasts way less time before the phase change and leads to fun banter in the party when someone misses out on the max buff stacks because of server latency frickery. Shinryu Ex's tail run is probably the best phase change gimmick the game will ever see, as disappointing as it is that there's likely nothing as cool as that waiting in the future.

If the writers wrote ShB today they would have a jarring flashback during the Exarch's face-reveal to remind you that it's Graha from the Crystal Tower series rather than trust the moronic playerbase to actually remember something and not need to hate it explicity explained to them.
when ShB first dropped it was done so knowing some people didn't do the CT raids. You could do that scene and have no idea who g'raha is and not have the option to call out to him. They've since not only made CT mandatory but also tweaked the ending a little bit. Now eternal wind plays during the cutscene where g'raha locks himself in.

Why does anyone watch these guys? They are by far the biggest stallers to have ever played this game. Rich, Pint? They got nothing on these guys. At least they both finished the game eventually. Yet they manage to pull 2k+ viewers each stream. The second they finish the story they are in for a rude awakening. It's as if they're afraid of this innevitable fate and are trying to drag it out as much as possible.
Worst part is they don't stream any other games since they started FFXIV like 2 years ago other than XVI which they abandoned after a few streams. As streamers they're really shooting themselves in the foots not just by stalling the frick out this game but by refusing to even stream anything else during the giant gaps between their XIV streams. Their channel is literally dead when they're caught up on the game's content.

They were somewhat catching up before Fanfest, but had to make a month long vacation + Fanfest attendence. Now it's even slower than before.
That's fine, it's not like we're getting anything interesting in the next year anyway. Better to pace yourself.

I'm going to be fricking suicidal about it, but Zodiac Buddy plugin made it very annoying, yet tolerable. I'm kinda looking at Excalibur + Aegis Shield, the base models are a little fugly but the glow redeems the weapon completely.
Holy Shield Anima remains one of the best shield glows to this day and I will fight anyone who says otherwise.

Anyone else hate what Shadowbringers did to Light as an element? Before it was something divine and mysterious. Now? It's just a fricking an element that stands for "stasis". Light, and Darkness too, are just maeningless and boring now. They're just elements, they have no divine meaning or purpose.
Blizzard did similiar shit with the Light and Shadow in WoW and I hated it there. It ties into the writers of this game and their obsession with explaining away any magic or mystery in this setting and making every boring and scientifically explainable. "Light" in a fantasy setting should be something divine and mystical, Darkness should be something sinister and twisted, to remove that defeats the entire fantasy of Light and Dark. They may as well just be plain old magic.
It also ruins Paladins thematically. No longer am I some holy knight wielding divine powers to smite evil-doers, no I'm just fricking dood casting white-colored magic. Frick off.

PLD was never wielding elemental Light anyway. Paladins use sun magic from worshiping Azeyma, astral fire. They're actually wielding elemental Dark.
It's more like Paladins are wielding "purity" since white magic drifts pretty close to Light, but Cure spells work mainly by "purified" aether to spur spontaneous healing of recent injuries

Light is passivity and bringing things to an absolute standstill (literally "bringing peace" is a Light element action) and Darkness is activity and making things move (things can't die on the Thirteenth, the Lifestream is destroyed and their souls and bodies are so "active" they just immediately reform), the logic going that Darkness represents a villain who shatters the peace and Light is a hero who restores it
It's not that the Source had it backwards, it's that they use different nomenclature. The Source names the polarities by the final result, while the First names the polarities by the original effect. Light draws aether into a passive state, causing it to take the form of water, ice, and earth, all things that are cold and dark. So the Source called that polarity Umbral, because they were just looking at the final result. Darkness makes aether heavily active, turning it to wind, lightning, and fire, bright heavenly things. So they called that one Astral.
Because Light is order, and if you take 'order' to an extreme then it becomes stasis, never changing because it's perfectly structured and any change would disrupt that order. Think about why the main holy summon in the series is a castle. Darkness on the other hand is chaotic, which is why it gets associated with evil. But in a more healthy sense, it's the potential to change. In FFXI the fact that the Five Races were born from Darkness is the whole reason they're able to accomplish great things, compared to the beastmen who weren't born from Promathia's seed and are basically moronic. In FFXIII the Darkness is treated basically the same way. It's the root of emotion.

Sin eaters aren't rabid. They only attack at the direction of a light warden, otherwise they just wander like aimless zombies. Vauthry directs sin eaters to attack people because the idea is to make them give up hope and stop fighting, and become indolent. People turning to stone would be creepier but you can't write a combat oriented JRPG story around that.

They could've wrote two opposing factions on Norvrandt and have some conflict that developed between them in the wake of the world turning to shit, and you're forced to side with one faction and fight the other until the end of the MSQ, all the while having to deal with the creeping light-infection as a looming threat that will eventually turn everyone to stone. Also the WOL gets infected by this disease himself.
In the end it turns out Emet Selch was behind one of the factions. Maybe, as a twist, you were actually fighting for the faction Emet was controlling the entire time and actually fighting and killing the good guys the whole MSQ, they were actually trying to stop the faction you sided with from further tipping the world towards Light enough for a rejoining, and the expansion ends the same way it already does ingame, where you go to Amaurot below the ocean and fight Emet to the death after learning the truth.

That's why it's a major point in ShB that WoL inspires the people of Norvrandt to action. They keep fighting when they were on the verge of giving up, and eventually they all show up to help send WoL after Vauthry by making the Talos.

I would write it like it's something people treat as a "disease" but it's really just a consequence of too much light-build up (like radiation poisoning) in your body from being exposed to an environment over-abudent in Light-aspected Aether. The "disease" would slowly turn people to lifeless stone.
To avoid this the people of the FIrst would entirely move underground, hiding in the dark to avoid light-infection, basically Slitherbough would be how everyone lived.
The only problem with this is that then there would be no enemies to fight the entire expansion as the "enemy" would be a disease that turns you to stone. So I understand why they wrote Sin Eaters it's still thematically moronic.

I found something with some googling. The author is BEGGING people to make Lala mods with it. Learning to use Blender to make a nice body mesh that's ready for import to FFXIV is probably the biggest hurdle if you haven't used it before. Modding games tends to be really easy and I recommend anyone interested just mod whatever they can ASAP because much of the knowledge of modding one game will apply to others. You don't even have to do things from scratch since you can use other people's mods as frameworks for your own.

I guess you dropped the act and are just straight up all but admitting to being here soley to derail these threads (the avatargayging just being one way you do so) and now you're basically admitting you have some direct connection with the moderation team and that's why you're never banned (despite breaking the rules) but instead apparently get people who complain about you banned instead.
Reminds me of a certain subreddit troll over on r/ffxivdiscussion (CutieShutin) who also has moderator protection and people are banned for reporting their shitposting. Or a certain forum troll who gets seemingly protected by the OF forum mods and innocent users banned instead.
Seems to be a running trend accross all websites where there is FFXIV discussion, somebody deliberately shits up said discussion, and the moderators of said websites protect them and ban anyone they don't like. My schizo-senses are tingling right now.

So who or what pulled Zero into the rift when the Flood of Darkness began? How did she get out? And wouldn't returning to the 13th post-flood have fully-corrupted her? The only observable change to her is her hair went from brown to black and her skin turned pale. It can't have been hydaelyn because now we know she wasn't an Azem shard but just some literal nobody, and we never met Zero before going back to Elpis and telling Venat everything that was to transpire so she wouldn't have had the foresight or any reason to specifically protect Zero from the Flood. That and it had no measurable impact on her as she was sent back to the 13th after it was Voided and got fully-corrupted just from being there anyway.
