Do you mod civ or do you prefer it as it comes, jank and all?

>I miss edead
same
also leoreth's spergouts are funny af
its great. hes such a stereotypical redditor but has been dealing with literal morons for so long thats hes on the edge
Beyond the Sword if he real
Are there any mods for Civ 6 that make the map bigger than Huge and longer than Marathon?
nice to see it spelt proper
I like the Civ 4 mods because they can get really wild with all you can do. Caveman 2 Cosmos, Rhyes and Fall, Fall from Heaven and the modmods of that, are all very unique experiences as far as strategy games go.
For Civ 5 and 6 it all feels too minor, nothing really makes it feel like a full new game.
I first modded SMAC back in the 90s
been modding civ since civ3
inb4
>NOOOO! YOU HAVE TO PLAY THE GAME AS THE DEVELOPERS INTENDED
the devs intended on getting out a product with the fewest amount of bugs by the deadline

Implying
I generally play vanilla Civ in 3 and 4, but in the last decade I started branching out to some custom scenarios in Civ 3. I play the Sengoku one that came with the Conquerors, but I also play The Ancient Mediterranean mod as well.
I always thought about making a Civ mod that was a fantasy enlightenment era game, but I ultimately didn't want to do a mod in either platform.
Lol if you want jank play C2C
Don't forget enabling mod-mods like Revolution so you can be first playtester in a decade
For me, it's Realism Invictus.
CIV V modding is shit. That Vox Populi mod didn't feel that good and everything else are some memecivs. I haven't played civ V in years.
Civ IV I bought to play c2c and Fall from Heaven 2. C2c felt too bloated for me, but I have immediately fallen in love with Fall from Heaven 2. My entire time in civ IV is on FFH2. I played maybe an hour of vanilla game, and never left caveman stage in c2c
I actually completed a C2C game, like, no joke.Took me 100 hours.
What's the gameplay like in the later ages? And by later I mean post-classical because I think that's as far as I got. I heard the lag gets unbearable, what size world were you playing?
I'm curious as well. I just started playing C2C
It really fricks the AIs over
I can't play with raging barbarians because they destroy all the AI civs
In my current game, I've been hitting ctrl-W and manually deleting the stacks of barbarians that are besieging the AI's capitols to give them a fair chance, but it's ruining the immersion
I could try turning off barbarians, but that is less fun for me
What was your map size? My gigantic-sized game takes 5 seconds to process each turn by the Medieval age, so I wonder how bad it gets later
(OP)
Wherever I am, I must also mod.
Srsly tho, Civ IV does have some god-tier mods & community. Fall from Heaven II with CivIV and its submods is a must-play if you like Civ/4X at all and it's basically a different game & the only fantasy civ game with magic & sheeit. I like Rhye's and Fall of Civ too.
Both?
I play Civ 2 and 3 completely vanilla. I play 4 both vanilla and with its entire slew of various mods and overhauls.
civ iv mods are great because of their jank, the base game is very polished besides the dumb espionage system
Yes, there are some great scenario mods for Civ 5.
In particular there's one made back before BNW which is about the Maya and it's a total conversion with new techs, new units, tweeked mechanics, it's great.
The only shame is that you basically can't win it. There's a hard time limit, and the map is super junglely and whatnot and the ai builds a lot of units and mathematically it just doesn't really work
but it's super educational and cool 10/10 would play again
