Do you pirate video games? If you do, why? If you don't, why?
Personally I pirate because I just want free shit, I don't care about not supporting unethical companies. Saving money is always fun

>pirate game
>can save it to your drive for whenever you need it
>buy game
>have to do it through DRM service
>their TOS states they can revoke your "ownership" of said games at any time
simple really, I don't buy unless I get a physical copy that works out of the box without updates or internet connection. even GOG has came out and said they will retroactively revoke your shit for saying nono words.
>No no words
Yeah, because that's in the TOS agreement. Why the frick do you want to be a racist and phobic dickhead playing a video game anyway? People are usually trying to have fun and be entertained, not hear your bullshit.
My entertainment is saying and doing whatever I want without consequences.
My rights matter more than anyone else's rights, because I am me, and everyone else isn't me. Me is better than not me because me is meeeeeeeeeee.
Not-mes exist to do what me want.
go back to sucking dicks on reddit
For the record, your post here would be considered harassment and grounds for revoking your account if you’d done it on a related platform. Maybe you don’t realise how broad Nono words are.
>2001
>Can say Black person Black person Black person on servers without getting your game bricked
>At worst a temp-ban from a private server
>cut to 2024
>Can get perma banned from games for stating biological facts
Go frick yourself pinko.
>cut to 2024
>get permabanned from all games for saying "nice shot" or "gg" in chat
Go on, ask me if I'm exaggerating.
Which ones were you banned from for saying GG? I know WoW was banning people for typing shit like 'ggwp' and such.
Same company, different game.
Good, no one wants to hear it. Grow the frick up, it's not funny, it's not cute, it's an amusing. No one wants to hear you estrogenically scream into their ears.
No.
I don't agree with that though, but can be used in a condescending way which is the way I think they justify it.
seething shitskin
>Good, no one wants to hear it. Grow the frick up, it's not funny, it's not cute, it's an amusing. No one wants to hear you estrogenically scream into their ears.
You don't get to choose what I get to say, gay. Back in the day they used to hang gays like you in the street for trying to control others.
I buy physical copies. I will pirate digital copies. This is the way of things.
theyre unethical because... they just are, okay? im a based revolutionary by pirating this game!
don't really give a shit about ethics, those fricks killed physical games so I'm not paying them.
simple as.
I buy my games from the store and pirate a torrent if I actually want to play them.
I used to pirate when stores didn't take my card
which is why I pirated a steam deck, GabeN taunts me with the oled advertisements.
>Do you pirate video games?
Yes. Movies, TV, and books too.
I pirate old games, because devs don't get anything anyway. I buy games I like, especially if they are in Early Access.
I pirate because I'm fricking poor and living in a shitty studio apartment. Every new game costs 70 dollarydoos now, I don't even pay 70 dollars for my shoes. I pirate my anime, my music, I'd download a car if I could.
I pirate because it's convenient and I get to control everything. I don't care about supporting artists. I don't care about proper compensation for them. They don't give a frick about me. Why should I give a frick about them. I care only about getting to enjoy a game. People say you should support so they make more of what you want. I did that and they turned shit I liked into garbage I didn't want to play. So I'll pirate the shit I want to play.
Haven't bought an Ubishit game since Rayman Legends.
This changes nothing for me.
If I don't own the game after buying it then if I pirate it, it's not theft.
Before any ownership or anti-consumer morality concerns (which are valid), I pirate games mainly because this is how I have been conditioned to acquire and experience gaming since my early childhood. A friend of my mom at her workplace gave her an R4 with like 60 games on it for her DS that eventually found its way between my hands at age 6. I'll always remember how counting down the DS games and going through the list by writing the full price of each game on a piece of paper made me learn and finally understand the concept of multiplication, and how much money this single cartridge saved my parents in the long term. Sure, like every kid I begged for certain games and consoles that we didn't know how to pirate and had to buy legitimately, but the vast majority of my gaming experience has been defined by free games. Reading guides on how to hack the PSP and do shit HTML stuff with it was fun, sometimes even more entertaining than playing games on the system.
Nowadays I force myself to financially support small niche studios and indie games that I've liked after pirating them, some of the latest examples being Hollow Knight, Rabi-Ribi, Paquerette Down The Bunburrows, VA11HALLA, Signalis or the Another Code recollection. I felt sad reading how DS piracy legit killed small game studios like Cing, who made Trace Memory and Kyle Hyde games. Still these days I always pirate first, I find torrenting and downloading unironically more convenient than using the proper means to obtain a game. Not to mention that you never have to deal with launchers, DRM, etc.
Ubishit should get comfortable not getting profits from their games.
>Do you pirate video games?
Yes
>If you do, why?
Because it's free and piss easy to do. Also i am unemployed and poor. If i had actual disposable income i would probably buy games much more often.
Pirating software is like sticking your dick in a stranger without a rubber. Sure you might wind up fine but the odds are you'll catch something.
>I'm too moronic to operate computer
Consoles were made for people like you.
I pirate because I like pilfering and plundering on the seven seas.
Yes
>why?
I want to.
Well then companies should get more comfortable with me pirating their games
>Do you pirate video games?
Yes
>If you do, why?
90% of the time its because
>no playable demo or free trial
>game is WAY too fricking expensive (Shartfield $130? you bet your ass i'm pirating it)
>game looks unfinished, trash, low effort or crash grabby
>i'm not sure on a new genre of game
>i'm waiting for the price to come down on a game (Cyberpunk for example, 3 year old game and still $100 . Pirated it and waiting until its $15 on a steam sale)
>i dont think i'll get the correct ratio of hours per dollar enjoyment from a game (i expect minimum $1 per 10 hours for most games. Happy to pay $50 for a game if I know I'll sink at least 500-1000 hours into it).
>its easy
>even ISPs dont give a shit anymore and dont care if you pirate
>what else is the point of having gigabit internet if you're not going to use it to download random shit?
pic related
got CK2 for $15, no fricking way in hell I'm paying $200 or subscribing $5/month for all the low effort DLC that shouldve just been free updates.
>Gamers say ubisoft should get more comfortable with not buying their games
Ubishit should get more comfortable with me having pirated every single game they've ever made since Assassin's Creed: Black Flag (2013) and not giving them a single dollar, ever
I buy games
>Do you pirate video games
No never.
Call it autism if you like, but I find it more enjoyable to play games on the original hardware.
>all piracy is emulation
lol, lmao
I played all my pirated Wii games on my Wii. Same with my PS2.
You are replying to a console turd. There is no discussion to be had with a subhuman.
Call it autism if you like, but I like to have the game. Put it on my shelf, look back on it from time to time.
Some people collect anime figurines, baseball cards, stamps- I collect video games.
And in the same way as a collector of figurines/cards/stamps would want a real one rather than a knock-off made by a Chinamen, I like my collection to have real ones too.
Yeah I unironically never understood collectors. Especially for factory produced items. Legit soulless hobby
To each their own.
If buying is not owning then piracy isn't stealing.
>Do you pirate video games?
No.
>why not?
I have way too many games to play as it is. Modern games suck shit so they're not even worth picking up, and that's ignoring that you basically need to hand out your IP to anyone torrenting a cracked pirated copy just to get it.
I mean, I guess I technically pirate games if you count abandonware and incredibly old shit. But if you're complaining about people who pirate Atari 2600 games, I think you've already lost the argument.
Yes
The criminal organisation known as state seizes a large fraction of my income periodically and I cannot possibly kill every single one of its armed thugs without risking death, so I reclaim my money in whatever ways I can.
I'm already very comfortable not owning any Ubisoft games.
Ubisoft should get more comfortable with their games failing due to lack of "rentals"
Developers should get more comfortable with people not buying their slop.
>rejiggered
Really?
only game I cared to pirate recently was the Kingdom Hearts collection, cause the sleezy scumbag of a cumrag Sweeney wont let it release on steam
>Don't mind me, just testing your game to make sure there's no game breaking bugs!
>
>Personally I pirate because I just want free shit, I don't care about not supporting unethical companies. Saving money is always fun
Extremely based, I do the same.
Only thing I ever pirated was fallout 4 dlc. Never pirated a full game before, but I'm sure that'll change soon.
They gonna feel confortable not owning my money
you can not steal something you can not own
I pirate because the world refuses to acknowledge that I deserve everything I want for free.
Does MyAbandonWare count as pirating?
I hope Ubishit goes out of business and gets bought by microsoft or sony
>Do you pirate video games?
I used to but I haven't done it for the last decade or so
>If you do, why?
When I did, it was between wanting free shit, some games being not available in the regions I was living in, and not being able to afford all the games I wanted to play.
>If you don't, why?
I can afford games I want to play so I see no reason not to pay for them.
I have no problems downloading old abandonware games but if there's a copy available on GOG for example, I'll go for that instead.
If I don't like the idea of supporting a company I usually just don't play their games.
I haven't touched Ubislop since M&M X: Legacy and Child of Light, and the only EA game I've played since Dragon Age: Origins (which was a game from the times I still pirated games) is Titanfall 2.
It also helps that the vast majority of their games for the last decade were samey dogshit.
Bioware used to make some of my favorite games of all time and now everything they produce ranges from garbage to painfully mediocre.
Ubisoft has great IPs and does absolutely nothing with them. AssCreed was an interesting concept that got turned into a copy-pasted ADHD slop with fricking damage numbers flying everywhere, what the frick.
I'd probably play another M&M game if they released one, though. But I'm not touching their Heroes, frick that.
I'm more open to the idea of pirating software but generally, I try to avoid it as well and settle for free or FOSS alternatives when available.
I have no qualms about pirating music, manga, and video though. My justification is pretty much the same as it was before - I want free shit, and I can't afford to buy all the media I consume.
I'd literally go broke if paid for every manga I've read.
I try to buy some stuff here and there, go to the cinema from time to time, and subscribe to a couple of services that provide such content officially, but still, about 80% of the media I consume remains pirated.
Why is the gaming industry fricking itself so bad? Others aren't doing anything like this. Imagine buying a car, and you literally not owning the car, the company that made it does and they can come snatch it from you anytime they want. It's such a moronic concept.
It's just how they want the world to work after 2030
>Others aren't doing anything like this.
how else would they make profit. you can see it here in the thread, if the gaming industry published pure single player games finished at day1 they would just get pirated. so they all go the multiplayer and always online dlc, season model way of releasing games.
Anon, you're aware they want subscription based physical goods right? Printers already work like that for the most part.
Cars also are trying to become subscription based
>Just pay 50$ a week for an extra 100 locked away horsepower goyim!
Most media people consoom is also subscription based, imagine how many endless normies there are, that could just pirate their fricking shows to keep them on hand.
I buy if I'm interested in a game and It has a reasonable price (usually i don't buy anything over 30$)
I pirate everything else
If I see a game which I pirated and liked in the past for a good price I usually buy It too
I also have a big hdd with pirated copies of games I like in order to keep them if something happens. It proved usefull when Blizzard destroyed classic WC3 for example
>Ubisoft "games"
Not really relevant to me what the slopcooks say or do
Ubisoft seems really comfortable not getting my money
I am already quite comfortable not giving ubisoft my money.
I can't remember the last time I bothered with an Ubisoft game, so you could say I'm most comfortable not owning their games.
Piracy is great though, often companies are just charging outrageous prices, or they have a ton of day 1 DLC, or they're just incomplete games. Got no problem buying a proper copy of a game if I enjoy my free trial enough though, like AC6, that game actually deserved my money.
>Do you pirate video games?
yes, as well as movies, music and shows
>why?
because i can and i save shit loads of money doing so
If you bought a single game from Ubishit after Rayman legends you are part of the problem
>do you pirate video games
Of course.
>if you do, why?
I'm the kind of guy who likes supporting games with money, but I don't believe companies deserve the right to steal my games from me because of a TOS violation, or a license expiring. It feels damn good knowing that Nintendo can never take away my copy of Super Metroid.
I'm very comfortable not paying for ubisoft games.
I just wanna save money. Odds are I will never even beat the game anyways so why waste money on it
Ubisoft needs to get comfortable with their sales forecasts not being met.
I did because I was a poor uni student, but if games were truly amazing I would tell my brother and he almost always bought them.
Now I'd be able and willing to buy games, but no way in hell I'm going to support the Denuvo cancer.
>If you don't, why?
Because frankly I'm lazy and if it's not a game I'm interested in I'm pretty content to just ignore it. In fact I'm pretty content to ignore most games I think I'd actually like even most of the time.
I generally buy my games, as I like supporting developers that make things I enjoy, its more convenient and I have no other recreational expenses. Whenever I pirate a game its usually something I'm unsure I'll enjoy or a case of the devs being defunct.
Ubisoft should get more comfortable not owning their heads.
>you don't own the vidya
no shit, you scum sucking Black person homosexual. and it's been that way since people started selling records of music, movies, and later, video games. you buy a license, A FRICKING LOICENS! nothing else. you're not buying the copyright, you don't own anything except for a LICENSE to use the product on that data disc which can be revoked for ANY REASON AT ANY TIME. key difference to back then is, now, with the internet and registering said LICENSES to an account, they actually have the means to enforce the licensing agreement. back then they would had to come to your house, bust the door down and erase the license from the disc. now, they just lock your account. and let me repeat that, just so you little scum sucking Black person homosexual brain can actually comprehend it, FOR ANY REASON AT ANY TIME WITH NO WARNING. THAT'S THE LAW, THAT'S HOW IT WAS WRITTEN AND THE CUSTOMER IS, BY DESIGN, FRICKED - HARD. YOU DON'T HAVE TO LIKE IT BUT YOU AGREE TO IT EVERY TIME YOU SCROLL DOWN A LICENSING AGREEMENT AND CLICK <I AGREE> AT THE BOTTOM!
