Here is my experience with Toram : >Download the game >Tutorial is okay >But the story is off with a very bad start >World is cute but the colors are a bit dull >Bash some mobs >Collab with Slayer? Now this is unexpected >Bash some more mobs >Realize that items have two sets of stats, one for you regular slot and one for your costume slot >Bash even more mobs >Game give me an OP weapon >Meet a player outside the main town >Say hi >No answer >Unlock AoE >Start pulling like crazy >Have fun for like 10 min before getting bored >Close the game >Gather some infos on character progression and itemization >Realize how important the cash shop is >Never open the game again.
I'm not trying to sound like a shill for the game but I'm over level 200 which is late game level and I've never thought to use the cash shop for non-avatar items. They hand out a bunch of that shit through MSQ rewards and collabs. Avatar stats aren't all that either, it's just for cosmetics.
I personally just get on every now and then because I like the old feel of the game. They're supposed to be adding fishing soon and it sounds like a comfy activity to do in the game.
Yeah actually. I feel like playing small budget obscure MMOs can sometimes replicate that magic everybody got from WoW vanilla when nobody knew what they were doing and the minmax meta hadn’t been worked out yet, people were just having fun and discovering things together.
If an MMO doesn’t have a wiki or if the wiki is severely outdated that’s usually a good sign you’ll get that type of experience out of it.
Been playing Project Gorgon lately and having a lot of fun
Yes, Cosmic Break.
It wasn't really an MMO, more like instanced battle arena game with hub towns filled with people. But damn, a lot of people poured mad $$$ into anime girls in that game. Shame it had to stop the development and close down.
But as I was writing this post I have found about Cosmic Break Universal: apparently this is a new game in the series, and it's active. I wonder how good it is.
Not yet, I will install and play today, but I don't think I can play for a long time. The game is not mechanically deep to entertain me, and there is not much stuff to do. I'm occupied with many other things atm: playthrough of Wizardry 8, playthrough of Diablo 2, playing Aion, World of Warcraft WotLK Classic.
I remember playing C21 in Japanese when it was fairly new and thinking it was cool as shit. Cosmic Break was also fun in the beta but it was more competitive and lateancy killed it for me.
I don't know about you guys but I like MMOs with some form of monster taming. Give me an MMO with monster taming and comfy old graphics and good music. That's all I need.
yeah toram on steam, hit about a bit over lvl 200 but the leveling slowed down
all the people playing are subhuman scum who dont want to talk to you if you speak english, so with no one to play i just left, two guilds in a row died for me, cities were full of bots and i couldnt get random people to help me level so i quit
been thinking about revisiting because i really like the art mostly, but i also couldnt use the cash shop and im pc only(my phone is too shit to play it since idgaf about phones) so the cash shop is basically out of reach for me too
You are playing on English World 1 right? I've seen plenty of English speakers there. They idle and chat in Sofya. Also I made a guild a while ago and got a few anons to join. If you get back on just post in the /vm/ thread and I'll invite you.
DF2 is abandoned. They have been updating 3d plenty. currently the end game of 3d is to get 1billion money to buy the ultra drug which gives 35% speed/power/50% exp boost, reach level 325 for dusk gear (as usual weaker anyway to what you can buy with irl cash) and buy expensive as hell implants to loot in the latest zone for tiny chances of looting good stuff. The usual for dead frontier.
It is much more f2p friendly than ever, yeah. Admin finally gave in and introduced the ability to be able to get gm with credits. So you can loot around 8m in cash and buy 200 credits for 31 days of memebership. good luck looting 1b cash this way.
anything new they introduced in the past patched?
last time i played they introduced outpost defenses. Im not talking strictly end game, something to keep me occupied as returning/new players is alright too that helps me progress

Nothing has been introduced since the 2dout post defense. You can find a new set of survivor weapons, obtainable in 2d, and in the market. They are good for the lack of proficiency and strength requirement, mid level tier.
You need to be more specific about what stuff you want me to say, if you want details.
Game is still relatively fun if you just loot and grind casually. The hardcore part is what sucks. Too pay2win.

Im so much out of loop i wouldnt know what to ask to be honest and just wanted a quick rundown on anything that might sell me on this game again.
Anyway, honestly considering playing it again because you reminded me it exists. Which build lets me use a machine gun if i also want to have stress free looting experience. As far as i know there is an aggro system in place and i really dont want to be swarmed 24/7 so i suppose a melee weapon or a pistol as secondary would make sense. Any other build suggestions for non grind builds is also welcome. Last time i played with chainsaws i had also a blast but now i dont remember if they were aggro magnets or not. help me out

You can do full melee now, zombies that used to explode don't explode anymore.
I suggest rifle melee smg, or you can do pistol hmg, but they increased aggro for rifles, so idk.
Anyway the only way to loot in the white is having a bow, melee or pistol now.
played granado espada for about 10 hours eons ago. was left with the ever perplexed outlook at MMORPG's and the people who play them. aside from the bizarre liminality of everything, the gameplay in MMORPG's is almost always trash. you walk up to some mobs and press buttons on cooldown. I genuinely just don't understand the people who play MMORPG's. even mediocre single player games trump them in the gameplay without having UI vomit all over the screen and three different titles and bits of information floating above every player and NPC
wish we had a system like wow macros where you can basically play the game with one button and only focus on positioning and healing, i hate rotation and memorizing 20 skills and love auto play mmos but on pc they are rare
Personally what draws me to MMOs is the way the world is designed. Like just going around exploring. Seeing what each zone looks like and the enemies that spawn there. Hearing the different music that plays. Sure single player games can have this but MMOs tend to do it on a larger scale. Bonus to the ones that add side shit to do in the world like fishing or mining, like FFXIV does. I stopped playing FFXIV after Endwalker and I don't want to keep paying $15 a month but I'm real tempted to make a free trial account and just get on an go fishing in the game every once in a while.
Rift was cool for the exploration, devs hid collectible artefacts all over including places that you really had to go out of your way to get to. I wonder on how much of life support it is this days.
Yeah, Brightshadow. It's been officially dead since 2012 and the (only) private server comes and goes because the owner's health. I'd love to see a Holy Beast Online private server someday. It's an absolute shame nobody has tried.
Unless they made it so that not literally every is tied to ping and therefore you're cucked if you don't live next to the servers, I'm never going back.
I got back into a game I never thought I would play again, so yes.
There's a new publisher with a fresh new server. It's the exact same thing as the Steam version but under a new company, and with different monetization.
It's fun and I like it, specially for PvP(and PK when the systems allow).
Even if you don't care about grinding, it's worth trying out just for the mixed class autism.
I started playing again, but I was one of the autists with 1000 hours+ on the Klaipeda server. Game is worth playing for the artstyle and music and class system but holy frick the itemization has gotten convoluted. Like it's objectively improved and you don't brick your gear trying to upgrade but so many moving parts now.
Share your MMO memories bros >played wizard101 when the level cap was 50 and the worlds went up to dragonspyre >would get back from middle school and immediately get on the computer and hang out with my online friends >we'd hang out in my housing area, do team pvp versus randoms, and do quests and dungeons in worlds >also play habbo hotel >would go to the minigame rooms and try to win furniture >go to rooms where someone is giving away their furniture and it'd be 100 players waiting in a line to pick out what they want >go to the rooms where you pretend to be a doctor or a CIA agent >had my own little room with some couches and a fridge where players can take drinks out of >me and my friends would just chill and talk in my room
problem is feeding the rifle, the ammo was very expensive as the weapons themselves so no clue if i want to go sniper rifles
pistols and melee were cheap obviously so that the first two weapons i would like to focus onm leaves me with a third weapon which i want to be able to grind with if the shit hits the fan but it must be affordable because f2p and bad at market (last time i played i was selling medicine from a hospital i ran 24/7 in the starter zone)
stats would obviously go into speed, pistols and melee, anything else?
You are supposed to only use your rifle when aggro hits, there is an aggro counter now. So you have plenty of time to hit the door and escape the buildings to kill the hordes outside.
oh i dint know they were two types of rifles
i thought you ment sniper rifles
anyway, which is cheaper? smg + ammo or carabines+ ammo? i think i want to go melee+pistol+ the one that is cheaper to sustain of the both and then i would like to ask for a stat breakdown for early mid and late game, thank you
smg are only for horde control
You should loot using a pistol melee or a bow
Basic pistol hmg build is 100 str xx end 100 agility 55 crit (they found max crit for very high is 79 now, so you can save 1 point) 84 reloading then put in accuracy
rifle build is 30 str xx end 100 agility 88 critical (112 with gc stuff) reloading is variable, as you reload less, maybe 70 and rise some accuracy if you want. It is usually cheaper to get meshes too, and having high endurance allows you to run for longer.

How would i go about this combo? Leveling wise i mean. Obv i will be lacking the stats and items to go right off the bat with hmgs

you mean the priority?
I say you level both agility and critical at the same time. Crit makes you faster at killing things, so you can level up much faster, and agility makes you fatser moving around so they are obviously both important on the same level, also to evade attacks and getting hit, both help.
After you get to 55 crit and 100 agility, you can work strength or reloading, since your pistol will be your main gun for a long time and like you say, you can't afford a heavy machine gun fast. At that point you probably should hang around fort pastor until level 40 at least. Then you can complete your 100 str and rise accuracy so you stop missing shots so much. Proffesion recommended are roleplay if you want to level up fast, soldier if you wanna level slowly but easily due to the massive extra stats and athlete is the most balanced one.

great advice thank you. Last question, you say pistol+hmg, can i also use melee in that setup or nah?

Good old Raven recommended this build, it is a bit outdated now, the gau is useless and the wraith cannon is for the new zone, so pretend there is a scar in there instead. So just follow his tips
Oh and remember, just 55 crit+ 24 gc stuffs (looting hybrid)

No. My original character got hacked, so I am old as dirt.
I used to be logical and pokeblink.
You can be a little prostitute if you want. Also as a new player you get a free avatar chest every day for 30 days which are bound to get you some bawdwear.
There's different face options along with height and skin. Along with different hairs and eyes it's enough to make most characters unique from one another.
Last time I played niche mmos was during the lockdowns, some wonderland online chink private server and an ace online private server kinda wish those games didn't get plagued with p2w shit even when it's the "players" in control they make they same shit mistakes when making private servers.
I used to a lot when I was younger and didn't have money to buy new games. Not long term or high level or anything but I'd download one every other weekend or so and spend said weekend getting lost in the world.
The number one thing I look for in an MMO is a world to immerse myself in. I've enjoyed World of Warcraft, Warhammer Online and LOTRO probably the most in that respect due to their lore.
Anyone have recommendations for other immersive settings to get lost in? I've tried FFXIV and ESO but they didn't grab me, especially the latter with its new "no cooldowns" thing.
I played some Korean MMO with some old feudal rice farm esque aesthetic. And the game allowed players to hold real player ran elections, for mayor and minister positions for all the game's towns, which actually allowed them to have influence over policies for the towns services and such.
It was kind of neat. But I didn't play it for too long. And I haven't been able to remember the name of it. It was forever ago. The game has probably been dead for like two decades or something.
difficult
i suppose m means around 100+ people in a single instance, going by guild wars 2 player map limits
games like fallout 76 isnt an mmo because there are only 25 people in a map but it has all otehr apsects of an mmo like crafting, trading, rp, partying etc
MMORPGs are games like Everquest and UO. ORPGs are games like GW1, where you can only see people and group up in the hub before going to do quests in an instanced mission.
I did at some point, it was called Fallen Earth. Post-apocalyptic. Loved it to death, but quit it because I can't stand chat censorship anymore so I stopped playing MMOs altogether. To this day I occasionally try to find p servers or community servers or whole games that don't police speech but I haven't found anything as of now and I kinda gave up trying.
no but I love close knit game communities. my friend used to play some old medieval game and was one of like 100 people who played. they all knew each other and it was sweet
PSO2 was the closest i ever got to liking an MMORPG, then sega completely fricked it up, so it's a completely unredeemable genre for me. they were never good
Literally same. It's sad as frick, why is there no other MMO that has actual action combat, as soon as I see a skill bar full of cooldowns I click away, might as well play a turn based game at that point.
I play this one called Last Oasis, it's on steam but is dead and seemingly abandoned, but it has actual combat in the form of directional melee and you can build ships and put guns on there. Servers are still up it's just that hardly anyone plays it and the devs are owned by Snail Games so who the frick knows if anything good is gonna come out of it.
>spend hours waiting for the shitty downloader to download the 80gb game again >get into the game >rebind all my controls >30k
>repeat every 6 months because of people still mentioning it >literally 30k within like 10 minutes of booting it up every single time
how do you people still manage to play this
Latest build is pretty stable, played all weekend with no 30Ks. Worst problem I encountered was the occasional ASOP terminal getting stuck, but I just moved to another one.
i guess i recently tend to start trying to play after a big update where they frick it up and its 30king constantly
i think people start talking about it around the updates which causes me to remember it, reinstall it then be faced with all the problems of the update. so fricking annoying lmao. is there gonna be another update soon because i dont wanna deal with that shit again but i had a lot of fun when the game was stable a couple years ago and years before that at times
Another update is coming up but mostly minor changes. The updates don't slow things down as much now. 3.19 came with an optimization suite that helped with performance throttling in dense areas. Best thing to do is to avoid the free-fly events which has tons of people trying the game and bogging the servers down
I played DOMO back in like third grade
I will never stop being mad that they fricking turned a bunch of random places into PvP zones one day and then high-level campers ruined the game by ensuring nobody could even progress
i occasionally pick up soulworker and closers but tbh they're more single player games that force you to play online than real mmo or at least whenever I've played them they have been
a new MMO to play that feels like RO or old maplestory or even tree of savior would be cool
yeah just played ffxiv
I said niche. Obscure counts as well.
I played Toram years ago and I thought it was complete shit. Same with Iruna Online
It has good music though
I miss old vidya bros, they had to put a lot more effort into giving it a style instead of pure hyperrealism
Here is my experience with Toram :
>Download the game
>Tutorial is okay
>But the story is off with a very bad start
>World is cute but the colors are a bit dull
>Bash some mobs
>Collab with Slayer? Now this is unexpected
>Bash some more mobs

>Game give me an OP weapon
>Meet a player outside the main town
>Say hi

>Unlock AoE
>Start pulling like crazy
>Have fun for like 10 min before getting bored
>Close the game
>Gather some infos on character progression and itemization
>Realize how important the cash shop is
>Never open the game again.

Oh and remember, just 55 crit+ 24 gc stuffs (looting hybrid)
can i get a link to the written builds? especially the looter one?
I saved that pic before his website was rekt, here is the link but he just made those pics, never posted it as text

I have been playing for years, so you can simply ask for advice from me. In game, I am survivor29.
nice will add you once im done grinding eso which may or not be this month
my usual nicks are kalitva or bumfight, need to see if they deleted my account for inactivity
until then, ive saved your replies and will use them once i start playing, thanks again homie
You are welcome
i have the feeling i should know you
have you written some guides or anything along those lines?
No. My original character got hacked, so I am old as dirt.
I used to be logical and pokeblink.
must be mistaken then, cheers
Wizard101 is fun as frick. Sad Ganker doesn't talk about it much.
i will play this depending on how loose I can make my toon
You can be a little prostitute if you want. Also as a new player you get a free avatar chest every day for 30 days which are bound to get you some bawdwear.
based i'll check it out
do all female characters look the same aside from hair and eyes?
There's different face options along with height and skin. Along with different hairs and eyes it's enough to make most characters unique from one another.
Need one with a good ERP scene
People will just tell you FFIXV. Toram Online has its share of ERPers though.
>toram erp
i think second life puts it to shame but SL isn't a rpg though.
I'm probably the only one in this thread who played Crystal Saga
Probably the only free to play mmo when F2P could actually beat whales
F2P players*
I only play them, these are the most fun ones
any lesser known mmos with action combat? you know, similar to early 2010s entries like tera vindictus dragon nest etc
ENTER
Don't know how I spent so many hours on this game back in the day.
Phantasy Star Universe
yes im playing battles for glory
but... this is just lineage 2...
but with mods
I've tried FFXIV and ESO but they didn't grab me, especially the latter with its new "no cooldowns" thing.
pls
PSObb
Yeah.
Cause it's in Minecraft.
stalcraft?
Shilling your garbage here because /mmog/. rightfully so, is dead?
which mmo do I play to find cute trannies and gay boys?
probably runescape 3
runescape is the one MMO I will never put any time into, it's not for me
just hang around the grand exchange, people talk a lot in there
You surely will find troons
vrchat
>Cute trannies
Any popular SEA regioned games
You're not finding "cute" anywhere else.
Frick you guys for fuelling my nostalgia. Aion classic here I come.
I play DCUO. I like superheroes and I like dress up
DCUO is decent gameplay-wise but it's still just an inferior city of heroes
I miss the days of downloading random MMOs and/or betas from random lists off places like mmorpg.com or fileplanet
Now I feel nostalgic for Adventure Quest. Adventure Quest Classic when?
I played some Korean MMO with some old feudal rice farm esque aesthetic. And the game allowed players to hold real player ran elections, for mayor and minister positions for all the game's towns, which actually allowed them to have influence over policies for the towns services and such.
It was kind of neat. But I didn't play it for too long. And I haven't been able to remember the name of it. It was forever ago. The game has probably been dead for like two decades or something.
NexusTK? I don't know any other MMO that had an old Korean aesthetic like that.
I don't know the difference between an MMORPG and an ORPG.
Massively multiplayer. It is just an RPG otherwise.
You didn't address my post
difficult
i suppose m means around 100+ people in a single instance, going by guild wars 2 player map limits
games like fallout 76 isnt an mmo because there are only 25 people in a map but it has all otehr apsects of an mmo like crafting, trading, rp, partying etc
You didn't address my post
MMORPGs are games like Everquest and UO. ORPGs are games like GW1, where you can only see people and group up in the hub before going to do quests in an instanced mission.
You didn't address my post
I did.
One is meant to be a social experience while the other isn't
I did at some point, it was called Fallen Earth. Post-apocalyptic. Loved it to death, but quit it because I can't stand chat censorship anymore so I stopped playing MMOs altogether. To this day I occasionally try to find p servers or community servers or whole games that don't police speech but I haven't found anything as of now and I kinda gave up trying.
no but I love close knit game communities. my friend used to play some old medieval game and was one of like 100 people who played. they all knew each other and it was sweet
anarchy online
i still dont understand why it isnt shutdown yet
MMOs were never good.
Ganker is always wrong
wrong. World of warcraft WAS good.
Dream of Mirror Online bros assemble!
Does this count?
>inb4 not a game
>spend hours waiting for the shitty downloader to download the 80gb game again
>get into the game
>rebind all my controls
>30k
>repeat every 6 months because of people still mentioning it
>literally 30k within like 10 minutes of booting it up every single time
how do you people still manage to play this
Latest build is pretty stable, played all weekend with no 30Ks.
Best thing to do is to avoid the free-fly events which has tons of people trying the game and bogging the servers down
play infestus
guild wars 2
Play dungeons and dragons online.
i have SWTOR, LotRO and D&DO installed right now
I played DOMO back in like third grade
I will never stop being mad that they fricking turned a bunch of random places into PvP zones one day and then high-level campers ruined the game by ensuring nobody could even progress
i occasionally pick up soulworker and closers but tbh they're more single player games that force you to play online than real mmo or at least whenever I've played them they have been
a new MMO to play that feels like RO or old maplestory or even tree of savior would be cool
