XB1 has probably the weakest combat in the Blade series, it's passable but there's really nothing that great about it and but basically every subsequent game improved upon it in one way or another
Definitely gameplay, and it sucks to see people spouting takes like "I don't care about gameplay in JRPGs, they are only for the story", when so many of them have really good gameplay.
I'm assuming your pic is Story - Gamepay - Both.
Interactive story is king. I play RPGs for choices/self-inserting/dialogue/characters/story/worldbuilding more than anything. Then second is exploration/graphics/atmosphere/soundtrack. And last and least important is gameplay.

>TLDR the jrpg genre for me is 2 games Golden Sun(1-2) and Final Fantasy X
There are more good story-focused RPGs than there are good gameplay-focused RPGs, but the best gameplay-focused RPGs are superior to the best story-focused RPGs
I see kino as a way of saying that it either has a great story or a great atmosphere/presentation/cinematography. E.g. Elden Ring is kino thanks to its great presentation, not is writing.
gameplay always
I think I usually lean more towards kino but kino+ludo is good too
you should put XB1 in kino though
xb1 combat is exceptionally good though? people actually discuss the gameplay as much as the story when talking about the game, which is rare for rpgs
I liked it and thought it was fun but I don't think it was exceptional or anything

What the hell do these words mean?
Kino: Cinema
Ludo: Gameplay

all of them!
People say "gameplay" for gamer cred points, but we all know that the kino side of that image is far more popular than the ludo side.
Ys is more popular then Trails
It needs to be tolerable at least but if I'm playing an RPG it's certainly not because I want amazing gameplay

Ludo has the most games so I guess it wins.
System Shock 2 has infinitely respawning enemies and limited ammo, it's merely kino.
You can conserve your ammo through skillful use of melee weapons. It also has great combat fundamentals and fantastic level design.
>through skillful use of melee weapons
so saving and loading until the metal pipe properly hits the zombie, how fun.
skill issue

Golden Sun 1 story is evil guys are actually good, but too lazy to tell the player, it's lazy writing.
There are more good story-focused RPGs than there are good gameplay-focused RPGs, but the best gameplay-focused RPGs are superior to the best story-focused RPGs
Gameplay
So kino = story focused ludo = gameplay focused?
Why are there gameplay focused games like pokemon and SMT in kino then?

it was the beginning of the end of he series
Xenogears is pure alright
Pure shit
imagine having an opinion THIS incorrect
But he's right.
>Xenogears Fan Excited To Play The Game For The First Time
The answer is that all rpg's should strive for both
any game where you visit the region of a previous game, like ys 4 dawn of ys, dragon Quest 3 and pokemon gold and silver, is automatically kino.
